DiveHyerin was humming the song that she was listening to as she made her way to her early morning class. Just a few weeks ago Daniel woke her up in the morning and walked her to the subway station, but it felt like it happened ages ago. She did everything herself that day and she even dropped-by to have breakfast with Daniel’s parents who told her that Daniel was still in his room, asleep. Usually Hyerin would get up from the breakfast table and bother Daniel but after he asked her to go away the day before she just sat there and politely nod.
She took out one earpiece from her ear and listened to the bustling crowd around her. Girls were laughing with their friends, birds were chirping in the trees and yet there she was feeling so alone. A notification rang through her phone and she lifted her phone up to see who had texted. The notification window on her locked screen flashed from Jaehwan. “Look behind” and with that Hyerin turned around, smiling. Jaehwan was walking towards her and to her surprise, so was an ecstatic looking Hyunah.
“Look who I met at the entrance!” Hyunah said once Hyerin was face-to-face. Jaehwan smiled sheepishly and rubbed the back of his neck.
“Let’s go out later?” Jaehwan asked and Hyerin found herself agreeing. She needs to take her mind off the hurt Daniel had caused and dates with Jaehwan were always fun. Jaehwan leaned in to give Hyerin a short hug and left for his class.
“Guess who secured a second date with Daniel?” Hyunah asked with a twinkle in her eyes. Hyerin had always loved company from Hyunah because she was a bubbly girl who speaks her mind but at this moment Hyerin wished she made other friends on campus because right now she wanted to get away from Hyunah the most. Hyunah’s face reminded her that Daniel was only ignoring her, and not anyone else, and it hurt. “Yes, I did!” Hyunah said without waiting for Hyerin to answer.
