Chapter 7
Shattered Past, Present, FutureI was sitting on the bed, staring at the wall. You tried to get me to eat. I refused. You begged. I refused. You pleaded. I refused. You eventually gave up. You were sitting on the bed, looking at the wall. Suddenly, you got up. I turned and looked at you. You headed towards the door.
“Where are you going?” I asked, concerned. You looked at me.
“I was going to get food,” you responded. “I’ll be right back.”
“I’ll be right back.”
“No!” I blurted. You stared at me. “I… don’t leave me,” I whispered. “Please.” Your expression softened. You walked back over to me.
“I won’t,” you murmured, wrapping your arms around me. I immediately leaned into you, absorbing your warmth.
“Do you promise?” I whispered. My tone sounded childish, even to my ears. Some emotion flashed in your eyes. Sadness? Fear? Regret?
“Of… of course. I promise,” you replied, your voice shaking.
“Thank you,” I murmured. You put your head on my shoulder.
“No problem.”

“Jungkook!” Mom calls.
“Yeah?” I respond.
“I’m going out. I’ll be right back,” she says.
“Okay,” I respond. She leaves the house.
She’s not back in an hour.
“She’ll be back soon, Jieun,” I say.
