Chapter 13
Shattered Past, Present, Future“I’m so sorry,” I said, my voice raspy. Mingyu's eyes were red and his cheeks were tear-stained. My throat hurt quite a bit, but there were so many things to say. I just swallowed. “I found him… he had already been shot. I tried to stop the bleeding but it was… it was too late.” I took a deep breath in. “Seokmin told me to tell you he loves you… and to give you this,” I whispered, holding out the necklace. Mingyu reached out and took it.
“Thank you,” he whispered, gazing at the necklace. “For… everything.” He looked at me. There was pain and… regret in his gaze. “I’m sorry about Taehyung,” he murmured. I flinched at the name.
“It’s not your fault,” I said quietly. “It’s only the shooter’s fault. No one else’s.” Mingyu sighed and looked at the television. The news outlets were covering the shooting.
“I hope they catch him soon,” he muttered. “I want to see the monster that shot Seokmin.”
I agreed.
