The five questions appeared on the iPad for a brief second only. Soon afterward, the questions all disappeared from the screen, leaving the blank tiles of the crossword puzzle they had to solve. They had a chance to read the question, but not enough time to absorb them.   Then the first question reappeared along with a text of ‘Player One’ assigned to it. Next to it was a countdown timer of thirty minutes. The first answer consisted of four letters.   “Who is player one?” Jung Kook asked, looking at the others to know whom to pass the ipad to.   “It’s not stated like the previous games. I guess we are allowed to determine this ourselves,” Ji Soo instructed. She then turned to the others with a hopeful look. “Does anyone know the answer to the first question?”   Ho Seok glanced at it.   Aside from the blue tiles in the swimming pool, what other color was there?   He knew the answer. As someone who frequently passed the garden area to bury some deceased friends, he had grown to accept the peculiarity of the swimming pool he passed. He found it strange when he encountered the odd colored tiles the first time. He wondered what it meant when he buried Tae Hyung. Eventually he chose to ignore it when he buried Mi Joo. He should’ve known it was reserved for this game.   “No one?” Ji Soo repeated.   Everyone remained silent, including Ho Seok.   “Let’s go outside to check the pool,” Ye In suggested, quickly standing up at her idea.   “Or,” Jung Kook held her wrist to stop any reckless movement on her part. He then suggested a much safer alternative. “We can look at it from the second floor. You can see the swimming pool from it.”   “Good idea!” Ye In said.   Ho Seok figured he had to go with them to lessen any suspicions he had murdered someone. But realizing Yoon Gi remained seated on his seat, maybe he could just stay there as well.   “You lazy bum,” Ji Soo muttered under her breath, an insult meant for Yoon Gi. Then she pivoted on her heels and followed the two younger ones who ecstatically ran up the stairs with so much determination.   “You two check the east wing and I’ll check the west. I forgot which window shows a better view,” they heard Jung Kook instruct. The two girls chimed an okay before it was silent again.   Perhaps Ho Seok should’ve gone up. Yoon Gi was staring at him like he was a criminal. There was something about Yoon Gi’s condemning nature that made one feel guilty for unnecessary reasons.   “What?” Ho Seok asked to break the tension.   “I just find it interesting,” Yoon Gi remarked with his fingers tapping his chin. “You were the one who remarked about getting revenge on Ji Ae. And yet, you reaction to her death was almost… fearful.”   “Fearful?” Ho Seok repeated. He had never been a good liar. And under the interrogation of someone as sharp as Min Yoon Gi, his flaw was magnified.   Yoon Gi smirked as he leaned back against his seat. His fingers continuously tapping the surface of the dining table. “But then again, I am in no position to judge your actions. I am no better than you.”   Ho Seok frowned, wondering what he could’ve possibly meant. Had he murdered someone before? Suddenly he thought of Tae Hyung’s death back in the garage room that was definitely caused by one of them.   But the other’s arrival interrupted before he was given a chance to return the question to the criminologist.   “It’s pink,” Ye In told them proudly as she picked up the iPad and sat down on a chair.   “Why didn’t you enter the answer?” Yoon Gi questioned, seeing the entire crossword in its blank state.   “In case if any of you want to answer it,” she said. Seeing as to no one initiated a movement, she finally typed in the answer. It was accepted, and now the second question appeared on screen.   How many cards were there in total for the fifth game?   This game had taken place recently, and they could vividly remember the tiles being placed in front of them as they had to find different pairs together. They remembered the tortures instead of experiencing immediate death during that horrid game.   “Thirty six.” Jung Kook entered the answer, including no space between the words.   Again, the answer was accepted. They were progressing rather quickly.   “See, this game urges us to work together too,” Ye In then remarked.   “How so?”   Ye In grinned at the question posed by the other girl. She then pointed at the countdown timer on the top right corner of the iPad. “The thirty minutes is used to answer all five questions of the crossword,” she explained. And indeed, only twenty minutes remained now.   “We should keep this up and solve the crossword,” Ji Soo said determinedly and they all read the third question that appeared.   What zodiac was the odd one out?   As always, they had the tendency to underestimate the games. Every time things were going well, something would go wrong to keep the balance.   “Could it refer to the numbers? Was one of them assigned an odd number?” Jung Kook questioned.   “Would anyone still remember?” Ho Seok asked hopelessly with a tired chuckle. They were going to be stuck here forever, weren’t they?   “I may still have my list in my room,” Ye In said. As she got up, the others spontaneously followed, including the two guys as well. “I tried to find the number of the zodiac equation and wrote everything down.”   “Have you managed to find the number?” Yoon Gi asked, clearly remembering he had sabotaged the equation by meddling with Seok Jin’s hint.   “Sure do.” Ye In beamed proudly, having no regards to any suspicious behavior. She opened the door to her room which was kept neat and tidy. She browsed through some papers on her desk and grabbed the one at the bottom of the stack.   “According to this, Leo was the only one with an odd number, the number three.” Ye In pointed at the chart she had drawn, listing everyone’s assigned zodiac sign and the code assigned to it.   They all returned downstairs to the dining room to continue playing the game. The supper place seemed to help spin the mechanical wheels of their brain.   “It does not match the crossword puzzle. It should have six letters,” Ji Soo said.   “We can just try out all the zodiac with six letters in it,” Yoon Gi pointed out, looking at the list in Ye In’s neat handwriting. “Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, or Pisces.”   “Won’t there be any consequences if we enter the wrong answer?” Ho Seok posed a good possibility, and they withdrew that idea.   “Which of these would be the odd one out?” Ji Soo hummed the question to herself, deep in thoughts.   “Taurus, Cancer, and Pisces are all symbolized using animals,” Ye In remarked. “Gemini would therefore be the odd one out.”   “Should we try?” Ji Soo asked, she then looked at the two guys who hadn’t had their turn yet. Neither did she, but she was reluctant to enter a possibly incorrect answer.   “I’m not doing it. We don’t know what will happen.” Ho Seok pushed himself away from the iPad.   Ji Soo only had to look at Yoon Gi’s cold stare to know he was thinking the same way. “Why do you have to be so selfish?”   “I don’t see you taking any actions yourself,” Yoon Gi pointed out. As always, they’d be constantly on each other’s nerve.   She cursed them under her breath and became the guinea pig herself. To prove she wouldn’t be as selfish as those two, Ji Soo pulled the device to herself. She typed out Gemini as an answer and submitted it.   The iPad began to buzz, sending her an electric jolt through her body that resembled the effect of a high voltage taser. “Oh my God!” Ji Soo yelled, nearly swinging the device from her hand. It was so sudden and unexpected.   “Wrong answer? Sorry,” Ye In said apologetically and quickly folded her hands together in a pose begging for forgiveness. “But what else could it be?”   Jung Kook suddenly exclaimed out loud with a new idea. “Remember the ver

Chapter 26: Truth to be told, this was probably the most exciting and thrilling story I've ever read! Really, I'm not exaggerating! It was also my first thriller, yet I don't regret reading it. Your story had the perfect balance of mystery and revealing the true nature of every player. I was always on the edge of my seat after every chapter, small wonder I read the whole story in one day. I just couldn't stop!
I'll continue in the next comment, so that I wouldn't give away hints and spoilers. :D
