Without regards to their own safety, Yoon Gi, Ye In, and Jung Kook all ran to Myung Eun’s side. As the water flooded out of her glass box, her body fell flat towards the white floor tiles. There was a damp smack of her skin hitting the cold surface, followed by a skin-ripping splash when the floor was semi occupied by the water.   Yoon Gi hoisted her upper body into his arms, supporting her back using his knees. His movements were surprisingly soft when he tapped the side of her cheeks, trying to put some color back into her.   “Myung Eun, wake up.”   Ji Soo finally managed to regain her balance after inhaling a good amount of clean air. She reached out to Myung Eun and quickly grabbed the girl’s hand, placing two fingers against her wrist. “I don’t feel a pulse.”   The shocking news made Ye In flinch. She quickly hid her face against Jung Kook’s chest as he intuitively caressed her back using his arms.   “Are you sure?” Yoon Gi questioned the other.   “I wouldn’t kid around at a time like this,” Ji Soo said, her tone desolated.   Yoon Gi’s movement halted, and the gaze in his eyes faded to emptiness. He did not cry for Myung Eun. He was not in denial. He accepted it, knowing that mourning was not going to bring her back. His tears were not going to shower life into her. He was always the most realistic one among them all.   Without saying a word, he placed his arms around the girl’s stiff neck and thigh, lifting her up in his arms, bridal style. “I guess we couldn’t make it out together,” he whispered softly.   The others watched Yoon Gi leave the room, and their eyes now trailed to the big screen monitor displaying something else. The number five.   At this point, no one had to point out the significance of the number. They all knew. A mental note was made for when the time came whereby these numbers would deem its usage.     Things were getting out of hand and it was ridiculous. Every time they played a game, someone would die. There was one game left and Ye In couldn’t bear thinking that one of them would be gone next.   With her hands clasped in front of and her eyes pathetically trying to withhold her tears, she wanted to return to her room. She had to end things.   “Hey.” Jung Kook called out, grabbing her wrist to spin her towards him. She had been awfully quiet, but he did not expect to find her in glistening eyes that would soon start a downpour. “W- what’s wrong?”   “I can’t do this,” she said, wiping the tears from her wet eyes using her sleeve. Then she turned around heading towards her room, allowing him to follow her. “I know the Game Master is trying to give us some clue. These aren’t just some random games.”   “Are you talking about the trivia quiz questions?”   She halted at his question and blinked. “Do you feel the same way?”   “I felt he was trying to communicate to us indirectly.”   Knowing she wasn’t alone with her assumptions made her smile with momentary glee. Ye In locked the door to her room and quickly retrieved the black notebook she had found. She sat down on the floor, leaning against the bedframe. Jung Kook automatically followed her and took the empty space to her right.   “This diary belongs to the Game Master. Some of the entries are rather disturbing.” Ye In shoved the book for him to see.   “Ah, so you have finally decided to share it with me?” Jung Kook remarked, stopping himself from letting a grin slip. But when he turned to meet her frowning eyes, he couldn’t help but smile cheekily.   “Huh?”   “This book. You are really bad at hiding it. I know you had it for some while now,” he continued, skimming through the pages.   “If you knew, why didn’t you ask me?” She questioned.   “If I do, that would be like forcing my will on you. I’d like you to show me this on your own consent,” he said. “You have a freedom of choice, after all.”   Ye In chuckled lightly and bumped the side of her arms against his. Then she focused back on the book and they both continued reading more entries.   They say people are given second chances. Would anything change if one was faced with a familiar disaster? Or would one continue being the sun and hide its face in darkened times?   “The Game Master has referred to the group of friends as the sun several times. I’ve never seen the sun being portrayed with such a bad connotation in my entire life,” Ye In said, urging him to continue reading. He was deep in thoughts, and she brushed his fingers aside to flip to the next page. The slight skin contact should not have made her blush, and yet it did.   Human beings are selfish creatures in nature. We are no better than stray dogs. When kindness is shown, dogs bestow us loyalty in return. When kindness is shown, human beings take advantage of it. The greatest concern is, and has always been, the ability to benefit oneself.   “The more I read, the more I can’t seem to despise the Game Master,” Ye In suddenly confessed.   Jung Kook shot a look at her, surprised. “Why?” He seemed to disagree.   “Because I can sense the pain.” Ye In sighed, staring out to the empty wall in front of her. The smile painting her lips was bitter and hopeful at the same time. “He or she has lost someone important and is coping with it in ways to avenge the loved one.”   “My brother?” He spoke the words she did not dare to mention in case if it would hurt him. “The Game Master is doing this to avenge my brother?”   “Perhaps.”   “Don’t you think it is the wrong thing to do? He is killing us one by one!” Suddenly he got agitated, and this was exactly why Ye In was afraid to involve him with her discovery. She calmed him down by grabbing his hand.   “What if everything was a misunderstanding?” She suggested a new idea.   “What?”   “I’ve been thinking about the questions during the trivia quiz, and

Chapter 26: Truth to be told, this was probably the most exciting and thrilling story I've ever read! Really, I'm not exaggerating! It was also my first thriller, yet I don't regret reading it. Your story had the perfect balance of mystery and revealing the true nature of every player. I was always on the edge of my seat after every chapter, small wonder I read the whole story in one day. I just couldn't stop!
I'll continue in the next comment, so that I wouldn't give away hints and spoilers. :D
