Beginnings

A step closer; The beginning

"Beginnings. In your life you get to make lots of new beginnings. It could be a new beginning in your love life, or it could be a new beginning in your job . Today I get to make a new beginning in school. We make this beginning for so many years hoping that it's going to bring something new, something different from the years before, something better. I hope I will make good memories with people I cherish..."

Rian.

She walked towards the crowd bored and unsure as to if she actually wanted to be there. Finally, the day everyone was expecting had come. The summer was over and the first day of school was a fact. Of course the first day of school in Elite High School meant that Soyeon's dance group would be at the spotlight for once more. Every year Soyeon and her team held a performance for the students to see. The excited faces of the boys around her made her want to laugh, but she held it in. She was already considered a weirdo anyway, she did not want to make it worse. She found an empty spot somewhere in the front row seats and she headed there. The students sitting on her right and left side respectively glanced at her as if she was a ghost. However she didn't mind these kind of glances anymore. That's just how it was.

It was not her appearance that made them look at her like that. She was actually considered a really attractive girl. She wasn't a stereotypical korean beauty. She had more of an exotic feeling. Slightly tanned skin, big eyes and full lips. Yet, she was really high up in the boys' hottest girls of elite highShe placed third, under Soyeon and Krystal. Not that they had anything she didn't, but they were the most social and desirable girls in the entire school. They were the leader and the main dancer of the school's dance group and that made them really famous. Rian on the other hand only went to school to study. Her mother had even suggested home-schooling but her dad opposed, saying that she couldn't be staying at home 24/7. Rian couldn't be more grateful to her dad. The sad truth was that she was an anti-social freak, that she had no friends, not even anyone she could talk to in school, but it was the only way she could get out of her home and also see Sehun.

Who's Sehun? Sehun is her neighbor. Sehun is her little joy. Even though he lives just in the other side of the road, she hardly ever sees him if not at school. She liked him since forever. Since she remembers herself. Even though they've been classmates all of their lives, the few times she actually talked to him were during the class session. Why would he talk to her anyway? She's literally the weirdest girl one could meet. Most of her classmates don't even remember the sound of her voice. Furthermore, Sehun has Soyeon. They are not officialy a couple but the whole school knows they are a thing.

Soyeon is the kind of girl that every boy wants to date and every girl wants to befriend. She's perfect at everything she does. She's dazzling. She has an amazing voice and dances so good you can never get tired by watching her. Now, her personality is another story. She isn't exactly what you would call a nice girl. She doesn't even glance to people she considers lower than her. To enter her dance group the girls must pass multiple, tough auditions. She only picks the best of the best. Rian did not like Soyeon at all. Not only because she was Sehun's love interest but also because Soyeon was cruel and heartless. Rian remembered all of the times she made girls cry with her tough words or all of the times she made boys feel like clowns. How can you possibly like someone like that?

The music brought Rian back to reality. The show eventually started. The girls were already on stage with their perfect costumes- all picked carefully by Soyeon herself so that they compliment their fit bodies. They started dancing to the music and they were as synchonized as one person. Rian couldn't keep from admiring them a little. They put so much effort in their choreographies. She felt a little jealous as well. Dancing was one of the things she loved the  most. She wanted to enter the dance group really bad, but she never really tried. Firstly because considering how much Soyeon dislikes her she would never be picked and also because she was just shy. She became nervous just by thinking that her classmates could see her perform

Everyone around her was applauding the whole time and she just felt like she didn't belong there anymore. She didn't fit with them. Everyone was happy, excited. She wasn't.

She got up and started walking away towards the building where her classroom is. When she found her class, she entered. Everything seemed so quiet there. The white walls combined with the white desks and chairs and the sun penetrating the windows made it feel so peaceful. She headed towards her desk next to the window and sat down. She closed her eyes and let her thoughts take her away.

He couldn't help but stare at her as she was dancing. There were like 20 girls dancing up there but he only had eyes for her. Okay, she wasn't the girl with the best personality, but he liked how she treated him, how she only wanted him. The one thing he knew for sure was that she was gorgeous and she was his.

The performance was finally over and the girls got down from the stage and back to the changing rooms. The audience was asking for an encore. He got up quickly and got his phone out.

"Guys I'm going! See you later!" he shouted to his friends.

"Where are you going Se?" Kyungsoo asked. He didn't receive an answer.

"As if you don't know where he is going." Suho said.

Sehun started typing in his phone. "Come meet me at our class. I have to congratulate you in a special way."

He suddenly got excited. He was a really indecisive person, but he had taken a decision for him and Soyeon. He would ask her to have a date and then ask her to be his girlfriend. All this time they were just fooling around. He wanted to take things seriously. The situation they were in right now was not right for her.

He arrived at the class and entered. However something caught him by surprise. Lee Rian. Sleeping in her desk. She seemed like an angel with the way the sun fell onto her face. He couldn't help but remember the time he had a crush on her. It was some years ago. She never really showed any interest so he just moved on, but he had to admit she was one of the most attractive creatures he had ever met. It was something in her that made one feel attracted to her. But on the other hand she was just as weird.

He started moving closer to her.

One step...

Two steps...

Three steps...

BAM!

"What an idiot you are Oh Sehun." He thought to himself, as he touched his pained foot. He had just kicked a desk. Immediately he noticed her terrified face as she woke up from her nap.

"Oh my god! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to scare you. What an idiot I am!"

She did not reply. She just got up and started walking away from him.

"Did I say something wrong?" he thought to himself.

She opened the door to be greeted by a speechless Soyeon. Rian was about to go, but Soyeon grabbed her hand.

"What are YOU doing here?" She asked in a demanding way. Rian however did not reply. She just freed her hand from Soyeon's grip and walked away.

"What the heck!" She shouted, as she run in the classroom.

"Sehun! Why was she here?" She asked, with eyes ready to pop out of her face.
"She was here when I came."
"Did you talk? Did she say something to you?"
"When did she ever talk to me Soyeon? When she saw me she left. Why are you even being like this?"
"Are you sure that's all?"
"I can't believe you're acting like this right now!"
"I'm sorry Hun...It's because, well you know I don't like her." She said and hugged him.

"I think she likes you and she wants to steal you from me." She continued.
"Are you crazy? She doesn't even look at me. We hardly ever talk."
"That's a part of her plan..."
"Hahahaha stop it!"
"Well, let's not talk about that idiot. Why did you call me here? Do you have something to tell me?"
"First of all..." He gave her a peck on the lips.
"I wanted to give you this and congratulate you. Congratulations for being the most gorgeous and talented girl of Elite High School."
"Yah! Just Elite High?"
"Well I haven't seen all the girls from the other schools."
"Oh Sehun!"
"I'm joking, relax...There's something more I want to tell you."
"What? What is it?"
"If you want to know you have to come to the Han River at 6 o'clock."
"Call!"

"Hey old man! Thank god you came to take me from here!" Rian said to her driver.

Mr. Choi was her only friend, as weird as it sounds. He was a 67 year old man, but he had been working for her family for 20 years, so she had basically known him all her life and he was like a grandfather to her.

"How was you first day young lady?"
"It was hell. You know same old thing. Girls dancing, boys drooling."
"Oh, I see...Did you make any friends today?"
"Aren't you bored asking this question 365 days every year?"
"I live for the day I'll get a yes as an answer."
"Stop making fun of me old man, or should I say grandfather?"
"If your actual grandfather ever hears this, you'll get scolded and I'll get fired."
"I'm going to protect you! Furthermore, how can the other old man listen to a thing? He's deaf af. Last week he came home and he was trying to have a conversation with me. It was a disaster. He couldn't hear me at all, but then again I'm sure the whole neighboarhood did. If I want him to listen to me i have to go to his face and start screaming."
"Yah! Don't make me laugh! You make me feel like a bad person."
"You are a really bad person."

The conversation kept going and the two of them had arrived home. Rian got out of the car and started walking towards her room, passing all the maids.

"Miss, your parents have left for Japan. They told me to talk to you about something." Mrs. Park, one of the maids told her.
"Come to my room in 10 minutes. I have to get off my school uniform."

"Yes Miss."

She got upstairs in her room and she fell to her bed. She remembered every second of her encounter with Sehun.
"He was so handsome. I'll probably be thinking to these 10 seconds for the next 5 months, or the whole year."

"Miss, can I enter?"
"Yes sure."

The maid got in with an envelope in her hands.

"No! Not again!" Rian shouted.

Sehun was walking nervously in his room. What would he tell Soyeon?

"Soyeon, I have been thinking of it and I think you are perfect for me, let's date!" He said to himself as he stopped by the mirror.

"No, a disaster...Again." He repeated his monologue a hundred times when something caught his attention. He stopped by his window and looked at the other side of the road. He had seen this scene a million times now. Rian and her maid were fighting again. Usually it was her mother, but seeing how only the maid was there he supposed her parents were on a business trip again. He kind of felt sorry for her. Her life did not seem easy at all.

He decided he should not mind other people's business and got in the bathroom to take a shower. After he finished with his shower he started dressing. When he was finally ready, he saw his reflexion one more time in the mirror and left his room. What he didn't see was the way Rian got out of her room running like a madman...

"I'm not going to spend another minute on this conversation Mrs. Park! Take these stupid photos and get out of my room!" Rian said, pointing to the door. She hardly ever talked bad to anyone, but this time it was an exception. Her mother and Mrs. Park just couldn't understand her. They were both crazy! And as her mother wasn't present at the moment Mrs. Park paid the price.
"I'm sorry Miss, I'm just following your mother's instructions. I can't leave this room unless you give me an answer."
"You want an answer? Here's your answer."

Rian started running like crazy. She had to bypass all of the guards, but she did it easily. She run fast, plus she knew martial arts so she was ready to use them if needed. The truth is though, that the guards never used physical strength on her as they were afraid they would lose their jobs.

She finally opened the door of her garden only to greet Sehun and his huge motorcycle. She hesitated. She looked at her back and saw the guards almost had reached her. Without second thoughts she jumped in Sehun's motorcycle and put on his helmet.

"I think I will use it. Go!"
"What the !"
"Go now!"

Sehun looked at Rian's guards as they tried to stop his motorcycle and he suddenly started the machine.

And like that Sehun and Rian's story had began...
