Monday. Everybody hated Mondays. Because what’s there to love about Mondays? Boring classes? Boring assignments? Boring school projects? Boring teachers? Seriously, nobody loved Mondays.

Kim Taeyeon definitely loved Mondays. Because Mondays meant cute notes, gummy bears, and more cute notes. With little skips along the hallway, Taeyeon made her way to the lockers and looked around warily. When everything was clear, she proceeded to unlock the metallic door and let out a tiny squeal. There it was, that all too familiar purple note stuck on a pack of gummy bears was neatly placed on top of her physics book.

“Good morning, Taetae.” Taeyeon read it out loud before giggling to herself. “Good morning too!” She greeted back before stuffing it into her bag, together with the books for today’s lectures. After making sure everything was in, the locker was closed with a soft clink and Taeyeon started walking to their classroom with a huge grin on her face.

Monday. Everybody hated Mondays. Because what’s there to love about Mondays? Boring classes? Boring assignments? Boring school projects? Boring teachers? Seriously, nobody loved Mondays.

Tiffany Hwang definitely hated Mondays. Because Mondays meant deadlines, school reports, and more deadlines. But one thing that made Mondays a little less annoying? Definitely that cute smile from that cute girl across the hallway. With that cute backpack, and cute school uniform. And once she’s done staring like a little creep that she was, Mondays weren’t that horrible after all.

With a little huff and some shuffling of papers, Tiffany stretched out her arms before sinking into her seat. It was a tiring morning. The day hasn’t started yet but she was already exhausted. Why did she run for this position anyway? It was a stupid thing to do, she thought. But the damage has been done and now she was stuck in this office for a whole school year.

The bell rang, signaling the start of homeroom, and Tiffany quickly grabbed her things, rushing out of the student council office.

“Okay, so anybody who would like to volunteer to answer this problem?” The middle aged man looked around the quiet classroom for any possible volunteers. He was about to pick a random student, the one daydreaming at the back near the window, when a girl with dark shiny hair raised her hand. “Okay, Taeyeon. Go ahead.” The young lady made her way to the board and started writing down. “Alright, thank you.” He smiled kindly to which Taeyeon bowed in return. “Okay, so we all know that there are multiple ways to solve this problem. And this is just…” The teacher’s voice faded into the background the moment she went back to her seat.

“Boring… Boring… Boring…” Taeyeon scribbled on her notebook. A few minutes had passed and she was about to fall asleep when the phone in her pocket vibrated. With a quick glance at the teacher, her hand stealthily took out the device, revealing a text message from her friend. Great, something to distract her from that boring math class, she thought.

Yuri: Taengoooo
Taeyeon: Hi!!!
Yuri: I’m soooooo bored!
Taeyeon: I am too.
Yuri: Well, that’s all! hahahaha
Taeyeon: What? No!!! Don’t go???

Taeyeon waited for a reply but it never came. Feeling a little disappointed, she pocketed her phone away and sunk into her seat. Now she was back on listening, at least she was trying to, to their math teacher with the most boring teaching techniques.

“Okay, class dismissed. Don’t forget to submit your assignments on Wednesday.” The teacher announced before leaving the classroom. The school bell rang and it was time for lunch. Without wasting any time, Taeyeon instantly grabbed her backpack and ran out of the classroom.

Ring, ring, ring.

Monday. 5 in the morning. Too early, way too early for Tiffany to wake up but she did it anyway. With a little disgruntled noise, she willed herself to get out of bed and start preparing for school. Teeth, check. Hair, check. Uniform, check. Socks, check. Wristwatch, check. Bag, check. After making sure that everything was in place, she hurriedly went to the kitchen and poured herself a bowl of cereal and milk. A quick breakfast later, Tiffany slid into her school shoes and out she went.

A quarter past 6 in the morning. Too early for a student like her to be in school but she didn’t have a choice. Not when she wasn’t able to finish that report which was supposed to be submitted last Friday. With quick, long strides, she passed into the hallway but gradually slowed down upon reaching the lockers. A look to the left, no one. A look to the right, no one. Tiffany took in a deep breath and as per routine, she keyed in the passcode with ease and placed the small packet of gummy bears inside.

“Good morning, Taetae.” She softly read out the note that she had prepared. “You’re so cute.” She chuckled at the thought of Taeyeon’s cute grin. But the happy bubble was quick to burst when she heard footsteps down the hall. Half panicking, Tiffany immediately closed the locker and ran all the way to the student council office.

After school activities. Taeyeon hated after school activities. After school activities meant less time to play videos games, less time to do nothing at home, and less time to play video games. But what was she doing in the gym at 5 in the afternoon? Carrying boxes that she could barely lift? The student council president. It was all because of the student council president, Tiffany Hwang. In the books of Kim Taeyeon, Tiffany Hwang was the epitome of perfection. Perfect hair, prefect smile, perfect academic records… Everything about Tiffany Hwang was just perfect.

“Hey, Taeyeon.” She almost dropped the box when her classmate nudged her. “Tiffany called you.” The tall girl nodded to Tiffany’s direction.

“Me?” Taeyeon pointed at herself after putting down the box.

“Yeah, you. She said she needed extra people or something.” The girl shrugged and before she could ask some more questions, her classmate had disappeared to help out the other students.

Taking a few deep breaths, Taeyeon carefully walked to Tiffany. She just stood there for a while and waited until the girl would turn around, and notice her presence. Once she was faced with the student council president, her idol, her longtime crush, her everything, her palms started to sweat.

“Hi. I’m Tiffany and you are…?” Tiffany offered her a smile. That smile that she wanted to see up close all this time.

“Taeyeon?”

“Are you sure that’s your name?” Her eyes widen at Tiffany’s teasing tone. “Okay, I’m just kidding.” The girl chuckled lightly. “Anyway, Taeyeon since you’re kinda… um…” She bit her lip and it took everything in Taeyeon not to hyperventilate right in front of such glorious person. “I don’t mean to offend you but you’re kind of the only you know… a little bit on the cute side so…”

“Cute side?” The words made her ears perk, and not to mention red.

“I mean… Your height.” Tiffany smiled apologetically. “I’m sorry.”

“Oh.” The disappointment she felt was written all over her face but Taeyeon quickly hid it with a smile.

“Um. I kinda need you to get under that stage.” Tiffany pointed at the temporary stage in front of them. “And bring these cords under?” She lifted a couple of cords from the box.

“Oh. Alright. I can do that.” Taeyeon eagerly helped Tiffany to take everything out of the box.

“Thank you very much.” Tiffany stoop down to look at the girl struggling underneath the make-shift stage. “Are you alright in there?” Taeyeon gave her a thumbs up before tugging at the cord. A few minutes of struggling and whatnot, the girl finally finished her task that made Tiffany sigh in relief. “Thank you so much, Taeyeon.” She tried to dust off her shoulders and Taeyeon just hoped Tiffany didn’t see her blushing.

“No problem.” Taeyeon managed to squeak out before stepping aside to create a few distance between them. “Is there anything else that I can help you with?”

“I guess that’s it. You can go back to what you were doing now.” Tiffany smiled at her again. After school activities weren’t that bad after all.

School festivals. Tiffany used to love school festivals. School festivals meant free time, fun games, and more free time. But now that she was the student council president, the person responsible behind the planning? Tiffany started to hate school festivals. She had to prepare a speech about the school’s history, the inauguration, and other important facts for hundreds of people that won’t even listen to her. It was such a burden but she had to do it. So she stood proudly from her seat and went to the platform. She gave her speech confidently and a few applause and announcements later, the festival had officially begun.

Tiffany was making her rounds around the open area when someone grabbed her by surprise. Fortunately, she was able to hold it in, sparing herself from the embarrassment of screaming out of nowhere. “Gotcha!” The tall young girl whom she knew by the name of Im Yoona said.

“What are you doing?” She tried to get out of the tight grip but failed miserably.

“You’re coming with me Miss President.” Yoona grinned at her. Something about that grin made her uneasy. That grin only meant trouble. And trouble it was when Tiffany was forced to sit on a cushioned chair. “She’s here!” The students around the booth quickly swarmed the area to attend to the newly caught couple.

“Okay, hold still.” The guy with round eyeglasses carefully held her wrist and took another person’s. Did Tiffany just thought she started to hate school festivals? Because by now, she definitely hated it. Especially now that she was in that embarrassing wedding photo booth. And to make things worse, she was seated side by side with no other than Kim Taeyeon, her daily inspiration, her longtime crush, her everything.

“Smile you two!” Another student chimed in as she held out the camera.

“What?” Tiffany turned to Taeyeon by reflex and got pleasantly surprised to see her up close. Too close because apparently, someone shoved the girl to her direction. Poor Kim Taeyeon got off balanced and leaned forward, their noses almost touching. Without any warning, a blinding light flashed right onto them.

Tiffany Hwang was ruined at that moment. Whoever paid that silly booth to get their picture taken would definitely face the demon in her.

School festivals. Taeyeon both hated and loved school festivals. School festivals meant fun games, good food, and more fun games. The first thing that she would do during this week long celebration was to roam around and find what each booth has to offer. She listed all the booths that sold good looking food, fun looking games, and horrifying I-should-never-step-close-to-this-place kind of booth. Since her friends decided to check out the horror house, Taeyeon was left alone lurking around the food stalls. Looking from left to right, she started to get dizzy on which one to choose.

“Taeyeon! Here! Here!” The familiar voice of her friend caught her attention and she hurriedly went to the nearby booth. “You should try these!” Her friend held out a few samples of their product.
“What are you guys selling?” Taeyeon looked at the container curiously.

“Cookies! Have some!”

“Hmm… These are good!” She munched happily. “I’ll take one of these.”

“Thanks! You’re the best!” Her friend gave her a thumbs up before giving the pack of cookies. “Drop by again sometime, okay?”

“Sure!” Taeyeon nodded with a smile and waved goodbye to her friend. Everything looked so good so far and she ended up buying more than she could eat. After finding a quiet spot under the trees, which still had a clear view of the stalls, Taeyeon settled down and placed the food on her lap.

Yuri: Taengoo!!!
Taeyeon: Hi!!!
Yuri: Where are you?
Taeyeon: I’m just near the open field. Under the tree near the garden’s entrance.
Yuri: Ah, alright! We’re gonna have lunch soon. Are you joining us?
Taeyeon: I’m already eating.
Yuri: Hey! Not fair!
Taeyeon: I’m already hungry!
Yuri: Fine! We’ll just join you after we’re done here. Text you later!
Taeyeon: Okay!

Leaning back against the tree, Taeyeon ate the freshly grilled corncob with a contented sigh. “Hmm… Yummy! Should’ve bought two of this.” She nodded to herself and proceeded to eat the melon bread. As she sipped on her milk tea, her mind wandered off and recalled what happened last Wednesday. When she thought about the silly photo booth picture that they had, Taeyeon couldn’t help but giggle to herself, feeling extremely giddy that she had a photo with her longtime crush.

Thinking about Tiffany, how her smile was so bright, how her eyes looked so cute when they turn into those little crescent moons, and how perfect she was overall, pretty much put Taeyeon in a very good mood. She finished all of her food with a silly smile on her face, imagining she was having a picnic with her crush. After throwing away the trash, Taeyeon lied down on the grass and closed her eyes, savoring the cool breeze hitting her smiling face.

Last day of school. Tiffany let out a deep breath as she tidied her desk. Her job as the student council president has finally ended, so as her high school life. Staring at the pile of folders and books on the table, Tiffany started to reminisce the events of the past years. High school was such a rollercoaster ride, from losing friends to gaining some, and vacant after school activities to filled-to-the-brim schedules.

A lot of things has changed since she entered high school, but one thing still remained the same. Kim Taeyeon, her daily inspiration, her longtime crush, her everything. If Tiffany was asked to make an essay on how she got too deep into this one-sided love, she bet she could at least do a 10-page narration on how everything started. As much as she wanted to deny it, Tiffany was completely head over heels for Taeyeon. Who wouldn’t when the girl was so cute and nice?

“Oh god, this is hopeless.” Tiffany mumbled to herself as she stopped right in front of the lockers. She didn’t even realize her feet had taken her to this all too familiar hallway. After fiddling with the pack of gummy bears with an attached purple note, she reached out for the locker only to be stopped by someone.

Last day of school. Taeyeon was all smiles as she looked around the quiet campus. Finally, she was able to survive high school without losing a limb. It had been tough for the past few years as she tried to maintain a good grade and get into a university that would surely make her family proud. All the hard work had paid off as she got into a prestigious institution, and lucky for her, rumor has it that her longtime crush would be attending the same school.

Taeyeon stopped from her tracks as she took a deep breath to calm herself. Today, she had finally decided that she would confess her undying love for Tiffany. Okay, she wasn’t up for that idea the first time but after countless annoying you-should-just-go-out-there-and-confess from her beloved friend Yuri, she slowly but surely caved in. It wouldn’t hurt to go out there and say what she really felt, right?

“Taeyeon!”

Taeyeon immediately hid the pink envelope behind her back as she stared at her friend with wide eyes. Then to Tiffany.

“Hey buddy, I’ve been looking for you like crazy!” Yuri casually walked to her and draped an arm around her shoulder.

“W-what are you doing?!” Taeyeon hissed as her tiny body was squished against her tall friend while being dragged to Tiffany.

“I believe you have some unfinished business with our dear student council president.” Yuri threw her a teasing wink before running off.

“Unfinished business?” Tiffany turned to her after watching Yuri disappear into the corner.

“N-no I don’t…” Taeyeon frantically shook her head while looking down at her feet. And while she was at it, something caught her eye that made her head snap up. “It’s you?!” She asked in disbelief as her eyes widen.

“W-what?” Tiffany was quick to hide the gummy bears behind her back.

“The gummy bears. It was you!”

“I-I’m…”

Taeyeon almost threw herself to hug Tiffany but good thing she still had a little self-control left. Heart beating erratically, she took a tiny step forward and held out the letter she has been hiding. “You can open it now.” She urged Tiffany to read the letter and waited patiently.

The letter contained her heart-felt emotions and adoration for Tiffany. How seeing her pass by the hallways brighten up her days. How seeing her name on the top students list motivated her to study hard. How seeing her smile made her heart flutter.

By the time Tiffany was finished reading her heart-warming letter while looking at her with that beautiful smile, Taeyeon knew that she did the right thing. That listening to Yuri’s seemingly absurd advice for once was worth it. Because next thing she knew, her idol, her longtime crush, her everything, was hugging her so tight.

“Of course. I’d like to get to know you more.” Tiffany said after pulling away, her eyes were brighter than they used to be, smile sweeter, and cheeks rosier.
