"Hm?"
"Isn't that your ex?" Jessica pointed at the person across their table.
"What?" She turned around and saw a familiar petite girl sitting alone, writing something in her notebook.
"That's her right?"
"How many times do I have to tell you that she's not my ex?" Tiffany faced her friend and looked at her impassively.
"Fine. She's the one that got away."
"Ha ha, funny." She said sarcastically
"But it's the truth. What happened anyway? You always refuse to talk about it.” Jessica propped her chin on her hand.
"I don't know. One day she was still there then the next she's out of the country. Maybe she got tired of waiting 'cause she never contacted me since then. It's actually my first time seeing her in years. Nothing much changed, I guess." She glanced back at the table and let out a small smile. "What?" She asked her friend when she was smirking at her.
"Hypothetically, she's single right now... And you're currently single and available too..." Jessica smiled.
Tiffany rolled her eyes.
"What? It's just hypothetical, you know. So... Will you say yes if she asks you out?"
Tiffany paused for a moment. "I don't know? Maybe? That's if she asks me out. I doubt she will, though." She shrugged nonchalantly.
"Hm... I'll take that as a yes, then." The blonde sipped the remaining of her coffee and stood up. "Come on, let's go. I think I had enough chitchat for today."
"Okay." She stood up as well and took a quick glance but the petite girl was nowhere to be found.

"Excuse me miss, I'm really sorry but can I include this when you check out? I'm kinda in a hurry and..." She stopped when the other person turned around. "Oh."
Tiffany didn't know what to feel as she stared back at the soft brown eyes she adored so much. "Sure, put it here." She said after the initial shock and pointed at the basket on the counter.
"Thank you." The petite girl shyly placed the can of soda into the basket.
Tiffany took the bag and started walking towards the exit. "Here." She held out the can.
"Oh. Thank you." Taeyeon took it and gave her payment.
"You don't have to." She waved her hand dismissively.
"Uh... Okay... Thank you again, Tiffany." The smaller girl smiled kindly.
"No problem. Well, I have to go now." She waved at her and walked towards her home.

Tiffany was on her way home when she passed by a small cake shop. She peeked inside through the glass wall and decided to go in. She looked through the display and smiled at the cakes lined up neatly. "I'll have one strawberry shortcake please." She finally said after contemplating what to buy.
The young man carefully placed it in a small box and sealed it before giving it to her. "Thank you, please come again."
"Thank you." She smiled as she took the box and realized there were small cupcakes near the counter. "Aww, so cute. How much are these?" She asked him as she pointed at the bite-size cupcakes.
"Oh, you can take one. It's free. Here." He took the small cupcake holder and placed it in front of her.
"Thank you..." She read the name-tag on his shirt. "Thank you Jimin."
"No problem. Taeyeon noona will be glad to hear some feedbacks." Jimin smiled.
"Taeyeon?" Tiffany furrowed her brows in thought and as if on cue, the said girl came out of the door behind the counter.
"Oh! Hi noona! Uhh..." He looked at Tiffany, silently asking for her name.
"Tiffany" Taeyeon said.
"Oh, Tiffany noona here said the cupcakes are cute." He smiled proudly. "Wait. You know her?" He looked at the two curiously.
"You can have more if you like." The smaller girl offered, completely ignoring the young man. "Or you can take them all." She looked at Jimin. "Wrap this up for her. All of it." She gestured for him to take the cupcakes.
"That's too much. I don't think I can finish all of it." Tiffany tried to stop her.
"It's okay, it's pretty small anyway. And you can share it with your friend too... What's her name...? Jessica?" Taeyeon tilted her head, unsure if she got it right.
The taller girl couldn't help but blush, finding it endearing how Taeyeon was still able to remember things from the past. "I'll make sure to give her some." She smiled shyly.
"I'd like to have her feedback then. These are sort of testers. If there will be lots of positive feedbacks, I'll include them in our list." Taeyeon returned the smile as well.
"Here you go. Hope you and your friend will like it, noona. I tasted it myself, it's pretty good." Jimin smiled widely and got his arm slapped.
"You shouldn't make her expectations high." The petite girl scolded the young man.
"I'm sorry noona. But it's really good. I should promote it better next time." He said before going to the kitchen to refill the display.
"So you work here?" Tiffany finally spoke as she could barely handle the awkward silence.
"Something like that." Taeyeon looked up from the papers she's reading. "You bought something?" She pointed at the other box.
The taller girl nodded. "Strawberry shortcake." She blushed again when she saw her smiling widely. "I think I have to go now. Thanks for the cupcakes, Taeyeon." She lifted the box and stepped out of the shop.
She was walking briskly towards the corner of her house when a hand grabbed her arm. "Oh my god." She almost screamed for help until she saw who it was.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you." Taeyeon said apologetically.
"It's okay, don't worry." She exhaled in relief.
"Can I ask you something?"
"What is it?"
"Can I have your number? If you don't mind..." The smaller girl looked at her expectantly. When Tiffany didn't respond immediately, she sighed and smiled at her sadly. "It's fine if you don't want to. I guess I'll just see you around...?" She chuckled awkwardly and waved before leaving.

"Hi noona! Good morning!" Jimin greeted her enthusiastically.
"Morning too. You're in a pretty good mood today." Taeyeon placed her bag on the nearby table before sitting down. "Can you please make a cup of tea for me? Thank you." She said and took out some documents. She laid it neatly on the table and started reading.
"Here you go." The young man placed the tray beside the folders.
"Thank you." She was about to take the cup when she noticed a small envelope. "What's this?" She took it and looked at it curiously.
"Oh, Tiffany noona sent it. She dropped by yesterday but you weren't around. She said that I should give it to you instead." He smiled and went back behind the counter as he accommodated the newly arrived customers.
Taeyeon looked at the envelope and glanced at the busy young man. She hesitated for a while before opening it.
The cupcakes are very good indeed, Jimin was right. It reminds me of the old times. Is it safe to say that these were the ones we used to bake? And the cake was really tasty. I'll make sure to drop by again and buy more.
It was nice seeing you again, Taeyeon.

She read it silently and her eyes widen when she saw a row of digits under the name.
"You okay, noona?"
The voice startled her and she immediately placed the letter back into the envelope. "Nothing. Her feedback was good. I guess we'll have to include it in our list." She smiled.
"Horay!" Jimin cheered and cleared his throat awkwardly when the customer looked at him strangely.

Months had passed since that day and the two got close once again. They messaged each other regularly and on some occasions, they would call one another just to say hi. They even go out for lunch and sometimes dinner. But neither of them mentioned anything about taking it further. It was best to keep it that way, they thought, they wouldn't want a rerun of the past.

"Taeyeon?" Tiffany asked as they sat on the picnic mat, shaded under a tree on a Sunday morning.
"Yes?" The petite girl was busy on laying down the sandwiches and desserts on the makeshift table.
"Can I ask you something?"
"Go ahead."
"What happened?" Tiffany looked at the busy girl.
"What happened to what?"
"What happened to us? You didn't tell me you were leaving and you didn't contact me after that."
Taeyeon stopped from pouring the tea into the cup and looked at the other girl's sad eyes. "I... It was a sudden decision. And since it seemed like you're not going to say yes, I thought I should just go." She placed her hand on Tiffany's when she saw clearly how hurt she was. "I'm sorry, Tiffany. I was hurt badly when I saw you with someone else. I really thought I had a chance, that we had something special." She said softly.
"What? I was with someone else?"
The smaller girl nodded. "That guy you were with after that house party. I was going to surprise you but it backfired." She chuckled bitterly. "Anyway, it's in the past. I got passed it and I'm happy with my life now." She smiled before withdrawing her hand and proceeded on preparing their food.
"What if I haven't moved on since then?"
"What do you mean?" Taeyeon patiently waited until the other girl spoke again.
"I was about to make things official but then you left." Tiffany pulled her arm so she could face her. "I thought you got tired of waiting that's why you didn't tell me about leaving the country and didn't say a word since then." She cupped her face and looked into her eyes. "And as for that guy, he was kinda annoying and I was about to leave him but he kept on insisting." She chuckled when she saw her eyes widen. "I actually punched him where it hurts and told him that I'm already taken. You could've seen it if you stayed for a bit longer."
Taeyeon covered in surprise. "I-I'm..." Her hand was gently pulled off and was met by a soft lips.
She pulled back after placing a quick kiss and smiled. "Your lips are as soft as that strawberry shortcake. I've always been wondering how it would feel like to kiss you."
The petite girl blushed and avoided her eyes.
"I've always regretted not saying yes sooner. We could've been celebrating our 8th anniversary by now."
That made her instantly look up. "A-are you serious?"
"I've been counting. Even when I was with someone else." She giggled when the latter frowned. "But it would only last up to a second date, three tops. I can't help but compare them to someone else. Someone who unknowingly took my heart when she left."
The frown slowly became a wide smile and Taeyeon couldn't help but hug her tight. "I'm sorry for what I've done. God, I was so stupid." She mumbled.
Tiffany brushed the long brown hair gently. "It's okay, we were both being stupid back then." She pulled back and smiled at her sweetly. They were just staring at each other until Taeyeon broke the silence.
"Tiffany?"
"Yes?"
"Can I say something?"
Tiffany nodded.
"I love you."
Tiffany only smiled.
She was about to say something when she got cut off.
"Can I say something?"
Taeyeon hesitantly nodded.
"I love you back."
