~I'll Be There~

Summary: Hyungwon has never given much thought to immortality but Minhyuk isn't the only one who's willing to give up who he is for the one he loves.

            Being a mortal has it's boundaries on how long 'forever' can really last against the test of time. Hyungwon isn't greedy though. He's grateful enough to be able to meet someone like Minhyuk who loves him as much as he loves the other in his lifetime. However, despite Hyungwon's reassurance to stay with Minhyuk in his own version of 'forever' the nine tailed fox creature isn't particularly thrilled with the idea, prompting Minhyuk's own desire to turn himself into a mortal. Hyungwon, of course, is supportive of Minhyuk's choices but only after Minhyuk manages to convince him that this was something the nine tailed fox wanted to do and nothing would stop him from getting it.

            Although in this grand scheme of theirs they forget that no one can control the way fate works.

            Foxes were hunted often in the woods for their pelts since they sold for extremely high prices. It's not surprising that there would be traps set up by the hunters in hopes of catching one. Minhyuk warned him before they headed out to gather herbs, "There's a lot of poisoned trip wires and snares in that area. You'll get hurt if you're not careful. It's a long way down to the village for an antidote, if there even is an antidote. Those poisons are made to kill nine tails so I'd hate to imagine what it would do to a human."

            Hyungwon frowns, "I'll be fine. Those traps are meant for foxes after all. I'm more worried about you getting hurt by them."

            "I'm not the clumsy human. Foxes are more agile," remarks Minhyuk with an indignant huff, "I'm coming with you."

            Hyungwon rolls his eyes in answer, he thought Minhyuk was being too overprotective. "Suit yourself."

            Getting to the clearing was easy but the easiness of the situation made Hyungwon too relaxed for his own good. Minhyuk traveled ahead of Hyungwon to warn him of the traps he managed to sniff out but there was one thing his nose couldn't pinpoint well and that was the traps with double trip wires hidden near the first.

            Needless to say Hyungwon didn't spot the second wire either. He took a wrong step and the entire trap went off. The first thing his mind registered was the sound of zipping wind and then an impact on his chest pushing him to the ground as darts flew by above.

            The air is knocked out of him in his landing. He knows Minhyuk was the one that saved him. But there's something wrong, Minhyuk's weight feels too heavy. The type of heavy where it's similar to dead weight. And Minhyuk wasn't responding whatsoever. Hyungwon gathers his bearings and shifts both himself and Minhyuk up to assess their situation. Then he sees it. The dart impaled into Minhyuk's back.

            Hyungwon's breath catches in the back of his constricting throat; he feels the bubbling beginnings of a panic rise. The only thing that crosses his mind is that this can't possibly be happening. It can't possibly be real. But of course it is and if Hyungwon can't do anything about the poison dripping through Minhyuk's veins quickly then there's no hope left to save the fox.

            Hyungwon pulls the dart out of Minhyuk's back and throws it far away from them in anger. His mind is running frantically for some way to fix this mess that's all his damn
