"Holy Grail! Xuan Yi! Wrong incantation! You just set the bloody castle on fire!" shrieks none other than Minhyuk from the courtyard.
Hyungwon paled from his seat within the council room, afraid to even look out the window to see what was going on outside.
"Shall we assist them in putting the fire out, Sire?" questioned Shownu in concern.
Hyungwon hesitated before replying with a doubtful, "…Minhyuk's got it handled."
Another loud shriek filters through the window, this time from two distinct voices instead of one.
"Xuan Yi! Not the flowerbed too! The candle! The candle!"
"Sorry! I'm trying!"
"I know but aim for the candle!"
Hyungwon presses his lips together to a very thin line as he listens to the two magic wielders continuously shrieking in the courtyard.
"Um, your highness?" questions Shownu again as he catches a glimpse of the catastrophe unfolding outside.
Hyungwon closes his eyes in exasperation and raises up a hand to stop Shownu, "Give it a minute." He points towards the door which Shownu turns to look at with confusion.
"You want me to leave you alone, sire?"
"No, just stay where you are. They'll come here themselves."
Shownu raises his brows but within seconds there's a short knock on the door before it's slammed open to reveal Minhyuk with his cloak singed at the edges, his light hair slightly darker and sticking up in weird places, dark splotches of either dirt or soot clinging to his face and clothes, and all the while smelling of burnt toast. Xuan Yi, a thin girl around their age with light brown hair and big eyes, follows in after him in almost the exact same messy state that Minhyuk was in. The both of them looking more and more sheepish as Hyungwon scrutinizes the both of them under his gaze.
Minhyuk laughs nervously to break the tension, "So… How pissed would you be exactly if-"
"-The left tower of the castle, flowerbed, and who knows what else out in the courtyard was burned to bits?" finished Hyungwon with flat tone.
Minhyuk avoided Hyungwon's piercing gaze by looking away.
Xuan Yi bowed quickly in apology, "I'm really sorry it's all my fault, Minhyuk has been a really great teacher but I couldn't control the amount of magic and I accidentally said the wrong incantation. Please forgive me Sire."
Hyungwon sighs, "Shownu, please go with Xuan Yi and assess the damage. Fix whatever you can or notify the right people to fix it."
"Yes, Sire." Shownu holds the door for Xuan Yi who bows once more before leaving with the Knight.
"Minhyuk. Stay." Hyungwon orders immediately before the Warlock attempted to escape.
The other turns around stiffly already knowing he's probably going to get an earful. After all, this was the sixth week that he was teaching fire magic to Xuan Yi and also the sixth week in a row that the castle has been set on fire one way or another.
"Ever since you agreed to take Xuan Yi on as your apprentice six weeks ago, the castle has be set on fire more times than I'd like to count," Hyungwon says it flatly but there's an underlying irritation in his tone that only Minhyuk can detect. "The castle can't afford constant repairs, Minhyuk."
"I know but it's not like I can stop teaching her-"
"Just stop teaching her fire magic."
Minhyuk scoffs at the ridiculous statement, "If it was that easy I wouldn't have learned it myself. Fire magic is the hardest but once Xuan Yi masters it she'll be all set to learn all types of other magic I can teach her."
Hyungwon levels a look at Minhyuk, "Then teach her using another method that doesn't involve scorching my castle every single time."
"But this was the way I was taught," argues Minhyuk.
"You were taught fire magic by scorching castles?! If your teaching methods aren't working for her to learn properly then maybe she needs a new teacher," counters Hyungwon. He really does like having the bubbly girl around but if Xuan Yi isn't getting anything out of this agreement as Minhyuk's apprentice then it would probably be best for her to move on to a new teacher with a different style that matches her better.
Minhyuk's expression morphs into one of utter betrayal, "No way! She's my apprentice! She went through all that trouble to travel here to learn from me specifically and we, as in not I alone, made a promise to her that she can learn under me so long as she's willing to put in hard work and effort which she has!"
Hyungwon internally sighs, he knew Minhyuk had already grown attached to the girl much like the rest of the
