The Paris trip

Aiming for the moon

“Wheein-shi.”

“Oh, Byul-shi!” The shorter girl turned around upon hearing the familiar gentle voice coming from behind her. “You’re here.”

Wheein smiled gently and Moonbyul automatically opened up both of her arms, encouraging the girl to take a step forward before engulfing the tiny woman into a tight embrace.

Wheein’s face, as always been the shorter one, fitted perfectly under the much taller girl’s chin and she can feel her hair moves breezily by Moonbyul’s breathy reply.

Why is the woman always wearing heels whenever Wheein is wearing anything but that?

“Am I late?”

Wheein shook her head softly, tickling the older one’s chin in the process.

They never hugged like this before, so it taken Wheein by surprise when the taller woman initiated the skin-ship, at which that the younger one has a total of no complains at all.

It is not like they are total strangers, they have met… like 3 times already. But they are comfortable enough with sending texts to each other every day. The handsome girl’s schedule has been quite hectic since last week, so it oddly disappoints Wheein greatly when she discovers that she won’t be seeing her fiancée for days until the Paris trip.

Still, if this is just any random person… Wheein wouldn’t accept the hug at the first place.

Wheein is a naturally very touchy person; she lost count on how many times she has d Hyejin on a daily basis, but it was just that.

A friendly skin-ship.

Plus, the younger girl is basically like a sister to her; not hugging and having any contact in every way with the red headed would definitely cause Wheein’s day to feel somewhat empty and incomplete.

No matter how dramatic that sounds is, it is in fact the truth. She has been with the girl since they were little.

Just 2 girls that happened to click with one another.

Those 2 girls also happened to be the Young Lady Jung and Young Lady Ahn; to think about it now, no wonder their friendship was highly approved by both families.

They didn’t know that; all they knew were how cool the other person really was. And who would have guessed, 14 years later… still together and sharing the same hobby of bullying the poor and kind Solar unnie. The feelings are mutual.

But this; hugging her fiancée is a completely different thing. Her heart beats so fast now; not that it is a surprise. Wheein really wonders if the older girl can actually feel the organ thumped strongly against the barrier of her skin and chest.

Wheein blushed once she realized that they have been hugging for quite some time now; and even though the hotel’s hallway is seemingly vacant… but feeling the warm body of the handsome girl made in contact with her body is really, really dangerous.

Wheein feels like she wanted to faint. Of course the hug was absolutely not unwelcomed but with a weak heart like Wheein towards her own future wife does not really help the small girl in her current situation.

Little did she knows, the taller one was also struggling with her inner self.

But not because she was having the same problem as the younger girl; it’s a completely different one to be exact.

Moonbyul, on the other hand, cannot seem to bear herself from pulling her body away from the shorter girl. She has missed her fiancée badly, and she didn’t realize this of course until a few minutes ago when her arms, out of her control, just opened up on their own.

Hugging the girl on the 4th meeting would be a bit weird, now is it? But god forbid her, she just couldn’t help it.

And as creepy as it looks like from other people’s perspectives, she also couldn’t help herself but to fully inhale the familiar soft perfume the girl is wearing and her heart just stopped.

Not literally, because that would mean that she is dead.

But more like, her heart beats numbly and she strangely can no longer hear her own heart strong beats in her eardrums.

This is a bad sign.

She is very happy indeed to see the girl but getting much closer to the other person might eventually kill her with a heart attack. Though Moonbyul does not really feeling quite reluctant with the idea of dying in the arms of an angel… she slowly pulled herself away anyway from the taut encirclement.

Her arms, then again, apparently refused to repel themselves from the girl’s warm and tiny waist as she ducked her head, wanting to gaze deeply at the stunning eyes of the girl now standing extremely closed to her front.

Wheein blushed openly but was bold enough to make a firm eye contact with her fiancée nevertheless.

“Where is your friend? She’s not coming?” Wheein reminded the handsome girl, suddenly remembers how she got a text yesterday from the older one informing that she is bringing a close friend along with her.

But Moonbyul came alone just now, making Wheein wondered whether or not the friend may not be coming at all.

She is rather excited to meet one of Byul’s friends after all, wanting to get closer to her families and friends.

“Oh, she has to do something first. She’ll be here short after.” Moonbyul confirmed, finally releasing the girl from the loving prison but yet Wheein is still not moving away from Moonbyul’s personal space and the taller one couldn’t help but to give out a tiny tender smile in return.

“She is excited to meet one and only CEO Kim.”

“A fan? That’s adorable!” Wheein cheekily smiled.

“Well, yeah…” Moonbyul half-heartedly agreed, knowing that Seulgi is probably more interested in meeting her fiancée rather than the young CEO herself, but oh well… a white lie could never really hurt anybody.

“Wheein-ah! Can you help me- oh, hello.” A loud voice suddenly boomed out from behind Wheein and the sudden greeting causes Moonbyul to advert her attention away from the smaller girl to the other woman standing a few feet away from the two of them.

Moonbyul bowed her head and softly greeted back. “Hello, Young Lady Ahn.”

Oh no.

Moonbyul started to feel nervous now.

How could she forget?

Ahn Hyejin.

The ultimate best friend of Jung Wheein; they were basically attached to the hips in high school. And the shorter girl, no doubt, knows and probably have seen Choi Moonbyul before.

‘What if she recognizes me?’ Moonbyul’s mind is running miles again, thinking and coming up with any good excuses and reasons on how to prevent the girl from recognizing her real previous identity.

“Oh, you know who I am?”

What?

Wait… what?

Moonbyul straightened her posture and snapped her eyes back to the smiling red headed girl as she slightly bowed to Moonbyul as well in return.

Wheein was silent the whole time, also quite confused on how in the world the girl knows about Hyejin’ family name; she has never really mention her, not that frequently as Wheein’s memory served.

Moonbyul fought herself to gulp loudly, discerning that it would be the very first sign of she being nervous or lying at the first place, and Moonbyul cannot risk that especially in front of Wheein.

Moonbyul smiled instead, masking whatever fear she had behind her strong disguise.

“Yes, my grandmother, Madame Moon, has done quite a lot of monthly check up at your hospital.”

“Ah, one of our VIP clients.” Hwasa clapped excitedly, happy to solve the questions in hands and Wheein sighed in relief. At least Hyejin takes a liking to her girl.

‘To her girl? What? Really Wheein?’

Moonbyul nodded in confirmation. “And I have met CEO Ahn. Your name might have come up before. He is a proud father, I shall say.”

Wheein beamed at the older girl, amused with her ability to compliment the girl subtly in a much professional and hopefully, not in a flirty manner.

“How embarrassing.” Hwasa laughed awkwardly. “Shall we see Solar unnie now?” The girl instantly directed the topic towards the bright CEO, not wanting to receive any humiliating stories about her parents or herself, in that matter.

“Yes, shall we?” Wheein smiled at Moonbyul.

“That would be wonderful.”

Hwasa silently smirked seeing the interaction between the two women in front of her.

‘She is a better actress than I thought’.

--

“You must really like her, huh?” Solar smiled widely once she realized that the slightly taller girl in front of her cannot steer her eyes away from a particular puppy girl a few steps away from where they are standing.

“Sorry?” Moonbyul straightaway revolved to face her, away from the scene playing between Wheein and Hwasa, and blushed lightly upon seeing the knowing look the young CEO is giving.

“You…” Solar started, her right hand busied itself, moving frantically across the sketchbook placed comfortably on top of the high table next to her  right as she draws whatever designs that may have come up to her mind every once in a while; and looking at the girl’s slim body inspires her to draw more of them.

“You… really like Wheein.” She finished distractedly, as a small portion of her tongue tucked out in an absolute concentration.

Moonbyul opted to remain silent instead, not wanting to disturb or to break the girl’s obvious motivations. But after a while, not hearing any response from the younger girl, Solar once again repeated her question and this time, Moonbyul immediately responded.

“Yes. She is my future wife.” She politely smiled.

Though the feelings she has for the younger one is real, that part is as pure as assumed by the older one; but Solar couldn’t help but to notice how fake the smile really is, right away recognizing the familiar forced smile spreading across the girl’s beautiful face.

“Miss Moon, you can drop the act. There is no need to be that polite with me.” Solar smirked upon seeing the ‘caught-of-guard’ expression of the handsome woman.

“I am no Madame yet, I’m still young yes? We all know your marriage is an arranged one.” She bluntly stated.

It took Moonbyul by a tad surprise hearing the girl’s honest opinion. In some other time, Moonbyul might have given out a witty response in return but seeing the playful smirk on the woman’s face makes Moonbyul think over for a split second; whether to play along or to remain polished as often as she has done in the past whenever she meets new people.

“People don’t take me too seriously because they often thought I’m a bit bright and unnecessarily dense up there,’ she grilled her finger next to her head and winked at Moonbyul. “But I’m not stupid. People like us don’t get married out of love Miss Moon. It’s all about power and money nowadays. Am I right?”

Moonbyul ogled at the older girl, confused and quite speechless on whatever she is hearing right now.

The girl is very friendly, so other people might have mistaken her over friendliness with stupidity. Oh, how wrong those people really are.

The girl is clearly not as clueless as everyone assumed.

“I’m a designer Miss Moon; people don’t expect me to think much when it comes to things like this. I don’t mind really.” Solar continued on smiling and Moonbyul was about to tell her how ridiculous those people really are before the older girl, out of nowhere, in the middle of the conversation, randomly and quite comically put on a super short dance number on the spot.

Umm... what?

“But I’m smarter than everyone thought.” And then she stopped dancing before taking the pink coloured pencil again, sketching on her paper once again, acting like as if that she wasn't paying much attention at the first place, and leaving Moonbyul to process whatever things she has witness a few seconds ago on her own.

Moonbyul shot a glance at the two younger women, but seeing that both of them are still strictly occupied with each other’s stories, Moonbyul convert her attention back to the slightly shorter girl in front of her.

Well, she is smart but she is a bit weird.

And Moonbyul laughed softly, finally admitting and realizing how funny the girl really is.

“Oh, that laugh is sincere.” Solar smirked and Moonbyul beamed in appreciation.

“I’m so jealous of you guys,” the older one nonchalantly resumed as Moonbyul’s small laughs lessened. “Your affections towards her are real. It is fairly a rare thing to see amongst people like us.”

Moonbyul lowered her gaze but hummed in agreement nevertheless. Wheein is her future wife, there is no need to hide or deny her obvious feelings for the younger girl, especially now that she’s talking with one of her closest friends.

“She is a lucky person to have you and you are a lucky person to have her, yes?”

“Indeed.”

“So cute.”

“Are you… married? If you don’t mind me asking CEO Kim.” Moonbyul wondered aloud as she notices the gold band on the girl’s wedding finger.

“Please, do call me Solar. And no, but I am engaged to someone.”

“Then please, call me Byul.”

“Okay.”

They remained silent for a while, hearing only the chattering sounds of the two best friends in the background and the rough sound of the pencil lead made against the surface of the paper as Solar continued to sketch her extremely detailed masterpieces.

“If you’re curious…” Solar suddenly stopped her drawing and return her concentration back to the dangling conversation. “I’m engaged to Hyejin.”

“I see.” Well, that was unexpected. But Moonbyul doesn’t want to give out any shocking looks or response, in fear of offending the girl.

“We’ve been engaged for a while now, even before I graduated from the university.” Solar chuckled lowly as her eyes moved to stare intently at the red haired girl not so far away from them. “I’ve meet these two crazy women when they were still in their first years, before Hyejin moved to Harvard.”

“Harvard? That’s impressive.” Moonbyul complimented.

“Absolutely.” Solar agreed before cheekily added along, “But before we got engaged, I was dating Eric Nam back then.”

“Wait, the singer?”

Solar laughed out loud and Moonbyul could no longer hide her shock upon hearing the older girl’s past relationship with the talented and very good looking man.

It wasn’t that hard to believe really, the girl does possess rather tons of charming personalities and extreme beauties.

“Yes, the singer. But my family did not approve of our relationship, of course. They said celebrities don’t stay married for long.” She shook her head, her smile still in place, obviously amused with her own story.

“I’m sorry.”

“That’s okay; it is rather the truth now is it? And we broke it off before we got too serious with each other so it wasn’t a messy break up to begin with.” Solar reassured, softly tapping the other girl’s hand lying comfortably on the top of the table’s glass surface.

“He’s a nice guy so we remained friends after all these years. He comes to my shows sometimes to give me support.” She smiled.

“That’s good to hear.”

Solar nodded.

“I was this close to marry Wheein too, you know?” She specified and that of course causes the taller one to frown deeply.

“What?”

Solar laughed loudly once again, finding it funny how the other girl, undoubtedly without knowing, dropping and abandoning whatever politeness she owned upon hearing her fiancée’s name being in the centre of their talk.

“My mother, apparently really like the fact that I’m hanging out with Young Lady Jung and Young Lady Ahn at which to my defence, I didn’t know they were one when I first met them.” Solar closed her sketchbook. “So, imagine my surprise when my parents told me that I had to choose one of them to become my future wife.”

Moonbyul let out a tiny, incoherent gasp. “You chose Young Lady Ahn?”

“Yes,” Solar sighed, “Because Hyejin knows what kind of world we’re living in, Byul-shi. And Hyejin was the first one to realize the reality.”

Solar closed her eyes slowly, “Wheein, on the other hand, was still in her beautiful bubbles back then… she still believes in love and happiness. And she wanted to redeem herself with her dark past, not that it is my place to tell but then again, who I am to judge, right?” She smiled bitterly.

“So I don’t really want to burst her fantasy. I chose Hyejin at the end. It is better to marry your good friend than a complete stranger, correct? So she didn’t say no right away when I proposed to her out of thin air.”

“I see. How close are they?”

Solar scoffed playfully. “Very. But you don’t have to be jealous! Wheein’s brother is engaged to Hyejin’s older sister so these two lovelies aren’t going to marry each other anytime soon.”

Moonbyul nodded in acknowledgment.

“Did you know Hyejin will be a psychiatrist soon? She’s graduating in a few months’ time.” Solar smiled proudly.

“She is quite amazing,”

“I know right.”

Even with her sweet reassurance, Moonbyul still feel a slight symphathy towards both women. It must be painful to know and admit that they don’t deserve such loves at so early of age.

Though both of them look so strong and independent now, but Moonbyul couldn’t help but to imagine on how each woman first discovered and realized that their world is only made up power and rankings; and long gone was the dream to be a princess in a fairy tale book.

Moonbyul’s life abruptly changed for the past 8 years or so because of the existence of her own blood and flesh, but at least she gets to experience the other part of the world; a world without high expectations like these and heavy responsibilities just because you carry a specific surname in your life.

‘How hurtful and tiring it is to live in such ways.’ Moonbyul thought to herself. And some of them may have even understand this in their early teenagers and that seriously makes Moonbyul filled with sadness upon learning their lack of freedom at such young age.

“Byul-shi, there is no need to feel sad. I love Hyejin; we’ve been together for a long time now.” Solar tenderly smile, really appreciating the other girl’s concern about her and her fiancée’s happiness. ‘How sweet’.

“Just like you, I fell for her after we got engaged. We are each other's person, that much you can trust me.”

Moonbyul smiled in return.

“Just watch.” Solar smirked deliberately before she, quite purposely knocked her palm harshly against the surface of the table producing a rather huge sound and Moonbyul flinched in response, wondering why in the hell would the girl hurt herself such ways.

It probably didn’t hurt much, but still the loud sound did act as a valid illusion that makes the impact to appear much stronger than the older girl actually felt.

Moonbyul was about to ask her if the girl is okay or not before she felt a swift wind blows across her hair and skin, with an arm that pushed and knocked Moonbyul lightly out of the way causing her to lose balance for a good few moments before recovered almost immediately.

Now her view, instead of seeing the usual dark haired woman standing in front of her, her view is blocked by another person with a scrupulous red hair colour.

“Honey! Are you okay? What happened? Are you hurt? Honey?” Hwasa basically screamed in panic and Moonbyul wondered if the older girl really did hurt her hand than she initially thought,

“No, I’m just very clumsy sometimes.” Solar pouted and explained in her tiny and a bit screechy baby voice.

Moonbyul’s eyes widened in surprise; what she was about to witness next was probably the sweetest thing she has seen so far, but it was just too sweet for her own liking and she becomes quickly awkward just standing beside the two lovers, extremely feeling like the unwanted third wheel.

“Solar baby,” the younger girl cooed, her palms pressed gently on each side of the girl’s fluffy cheeks before Hwasa planted a tiny peck on Solar’s forehead. “You need to be careful, okay? I don’t want you hurt.”

She kissed her forehead again, and Moonbyul seriously doesn’t know how to react; whether to look away or to just keep on staring.

Fortunately, her fiancée decided to rescue her instead and Moonbyul let out a tiny sigh of relief as she felt her arm being tugged sideways; leaving the other two love birds with their own privacy.

“Don’t mind them, they have always been like that and yes, it has been 4 solid years after they got engaged.” Wheein rolled her eyes in annoyance. “You should never be the third wheel when these 2 are having their date night; you’d vomit rainbows, for real.”

Moonbyul chuckled, “I think it’s sweet.”

“No, it’s not.” Wheein pulled out a disgusted face.

As she stared once again at the lovely couple behind Wheein, it was impossible for Moonbyul to not feel jealous, aching and wanting to get closer to her fiancée instead.

Other than the tiny kiss on the cheek and the hug, Moonbyul and Wheein have never really held each other’s hands in the past; and that makes the taller girl to become determined on proving more of her affections towards the shorter one.

As both of them slowly made their way to the large window of the suite that overlook the tall buildings of the so-called city of love, Moonbyul finally got the courage to take the younger girl’s hand and pull her body closer to her own.

Wheein gasped as her body collided softly against the older girl and instantly blushed. Moonbyul honestly, more and more in love with the red shade of the girl’s cheeks whenever she does things like these; deep down, she knows the younger women enjoy the close proximity as much as she does that genuinely gives Moonbyul a very much needed confidence in her heart.

She pulled both of the younger girl’s arms towards her and looped them around her waist; so now instead, Wheein is the one embracing the older girl’s warm body.

Wheein smiled nervously in return.

“Is this okay?” Moonbyul asked softly, not wanting to force the girl to do things that she may or may not be ready yet but her worry is immediately washed away as the girl nodded her head in reply.

“Ye-yes, Byul-shi.”

“I forgot to tell you how beautiful you look today.”

“Omo, so greasy…”

Moonbyul laughed softly as her hands gently slide themselves along the lengths of Wheein’s arms and stopped as they reached just above the girl’s elbows. Since Wheein is wearing a sleeveless dress, the contact her bare skin made against the palms of the older girl, Wheein feels like she is being electrocuted with minor electricity and her heart suddenly beats uncontrollably fast.

Wheein shivered slightly upon experiencing the so unfamiliar feelings and of course, the taller girl being a gentle one, mistook her shiver as her being cold. She continued to rub her palms softly against wheein’s arms.

“Are you cold? Should we go out for a walk to warm you up first?” Moonbyul smiled fondly as Wheein, quite adorably and eagerly nodded her head in response.

The air-conditioner in the suite is no joke at all; it is seriously getting super cold now.

“Okay.” Moonbyul once more, take the girl’s right hand from the small pocket of her back and clasped it tightly with her own before gently pulling the girl expeditiously towards the door, not really bothering to inform the other two as they seem to be occupied with their own sunshine world.

As the door clicked shut, leaving only Hwasa and Solar inside, the younger girl turned and faced the door. “They left?”

“I think so,”

“Oh, well.” Hwasa sighed as Solar put her thumb and forefinger under the shorter girl’s chin and oh so gently pull it towards so that the girl is now facing her instead.

“You seem to be quite interested in Miss Moon.”

“I’ve known her before, let’s just say that.”

“Should I be worried?”

“About Wheein? No, she’s a big girl-”

“No, about Miss Moon.”

Hwasa smiled as she hugged the slightly taller girl in return.

“Are you jealous CEO Kim?”

“Ahn Hyejin.” The older one warned causes Hwasa to let out a tiny smirk.

“Whatever things I have for her, it has been buried down so deeply.” The red headed reassured her fiancée.

“I’m not afraid of you falling again, I’m afraid of you hurting.” Solar sulked in worry.

Hwasa gave her a short kiss on the lips before smiling gently.

“My eyes are for you and yours only.”

“Hopefully so, Young Lady Ahn.”

--

As Moonbyul shut the door closed, she can feel her phone buzzed loudly in her pocket. The older girl took it out and read the text speedily, not wanting to appear rude in front of her fiancée but at the same time, still following her obligations to check it anyways, avoiding any unnecessary consequences for not reading her emails and texts on time.

“Is everything okay?” Wheein asked as Moonbyul’s forehead line become visible as she frowned along upon reading the tiny words on her screen.

“Yes, its Jackson, he’s my grandmother’s butler; he just texted me about my hotel room, but it’s a bit strange.”

“What’s wrong?”

“I’m staying in a suite.”

“Is it a different one?”

“No, it’s just… I wanted a single room but this suite has 2 rooms. My friend is not staying in the hotel; she would be staying in her family’s villa.” Moonbyul reassured, not wanting to further alarm the girl next to her.

“Oh, I see.” Wheein glanced over the phone, reading the rather short texts.

“Wait,” She added.

That's odd.

“Why is your suite number the same as mine?”
