Chapter 10
In our dreamsThe next morning, Hyori woke up just before noon. She was surprised with herself for sleeping so late as she was normally an early riser. She figured the stress, worry and the unexpected visit from Yoongi were to blame for her sleeping so late. She got out of bed and brushed her hair, something she didn’t normally do before going to the bathroom, but after the events that had occurred the night before, she felt compelled to at least attempt to sort herself out before she left her room.
She visited the bathroom to complete her morning routine and when she opened the door to exit the bathroom, Yoongi was standing by the door. She let out a yelp of surprise making him grin at her. She slapped his arm, a pout on her face. “Yah, you scared the crap out of me!” she complained as she headed to the kitchen, her stomach complaining from not having dinner the night before. Yoongi followed her to the kitchen, leaning against the counter as she looked through the cupboards. “Are you hungry?” she asked as she looked through their options for lunch.
He nodded, “Yeah.” She hummed and pulled out some ramyun. “Sorry it’s not fancy, but it’s quick and I’m starving.” She said as she started to prepare the ramyun. “It doesn’t need to be fancy, I’m not Jin.” He said with a chuckle. Once the food was ready, they sat side by side at the dining room table sharing the pot of food. “Hey, can I ask you something?” Yoongi asked suddenly, his serious tone catching her off-guard. She nervously put down her chopsticks, “Yeah, of course.”
Yoongi copied her action and put down his own chopsticks. “About what happened last night, do you regret it?” he asked, his gaze focused on the pot in front of him. Hyori felt dread flow through her. Had she misread the situation? Did he feel awkward after their kiss? Did he want her to leave? A million thoughts raced through her head before she finally replied, her tone cautious. “No… how about you?” Yoongi instantly picked up on her uncertainty. He took her hand in his, squeezing it reassuringly. “Never. I was just afraid that I might have caught you unawares last night. I’ve been worrying over whether or not I took it too far last night.” He asked as he caught her gaze with his own.
She shook her head, a small smile on her face. Yoongi smiled back at her, “Hyori, can I kiss you again?” he asked making her chuckle at him. “I don’t recall you asking for permission last night.” She replied cheekily. Yoongi smirked and leant forward, capturing her lips in a searing kiss. She barely had time to register the kiss before he pulled away, a smirk on his face. “Eat your ramyun before it gets cold.” He said as he picked up his chopsticks and began eating again. She threw him a dirty look before picking up her own chopsticks and finishing her share of the food.
Once they had finished eating, Yoongi suggested that they watched a movie together, complaining that he was too tired to do anything else because of his busy day the day before. Hyori agreed and picked a movie for them to watch. She curled up on her normal spot on the couch, some snacks laid out on the coffee table in front of them. Half an hour into the movie, Yoongi stretched out, laying his head on her lap. He looked up at her, his expression daring her to tell him to move. She shook her head, a small smile on her face as she returned her attention to the movie. She could feel his hair brushing against her arm and couldn’t resist running her fingers through it.
Yoongi closed his eyes at the soothing action which made her smile. She lost interest in the movie and instead focused on Yoongi. She smiled to herself as she took in his pale skin, his silvery hair, and the look of peace on his face as he rested in her lap. Part of her wondered if this was all just a wonderful dream. She had never dared to imagine that her life would be anything but escaping from her father’s next drunken rage. But here she was, in a nice apartment, safe, with the kindest person she had ever met using her as a pillow. She stifled a laugh, not wanting to disturb his rest. She knew that he was tired from work, he and Namjoon had been working hard on creating a partnership with a new dance teacher to work with their company along with a million other things.
After another half an hour, her foot had started to go numb from being trapped underneath her for so long. She tried to carefully move, hoping that if she moved slowly enough, she wouldn’t wake Yoongi up. She had almost succeeded in freeing her leg when he groaned and looked up at her. “Sorry.” She whispered as she ran her fingers through his hair again. “Just go back to sleep.” She whispered. Yoongi sat up, ruffling his already messed up hair, looking at her through half open eyes. She couldn’t help but notice how cute he looked.
He yawned as he pulled her closer to him before lying down, putting his arm under her head as he held her against his chest. “Yoongi…” she said, shocked with the change in position. He shushed her gently, his voice thick with sleep as he adjusted his position slightly, wrapping the arm that wasn’t under her head around her waist and throwing his leg over hers to stop her from falling off the couch. She bit her lip from nervousness, tilting her head up slightly to look at him, his breathing had already evened out. She smiled at him, finding his sleeping expression cute. She carefully pulled her phone from her back pocket and awkwardly snapped a photo of them together. She suppressed the urge to laugh as she slipped the phone back into her pocket and snuggled up against him, her eyes slipping shut as she too fell asleep.
She woke up long after the movie had ended, the bright light of the afternoon sun blazing in through the window. She groaned in protest of the light and snuggled in against Yoongi’s chest. “Yah, are you gonna sleep more?” he said, his voice rough from sleep. She blinked up at him, his sleepy expression knocking the breath right out of her. He looked amazing with his messed up hair and half shut eyes, the tiniest smirk on his lips. She rested her head on his chest, “What if I want to sleep all day?” she asked playfully. “Don’t tempt me.” He said with a chuckle.
She sat up, letting Yoongi sit up as well. He rubbed his arm that she had been using as a pillow. “Did I hurt you? You should have moved me.” She said noticing his action. “I tried, but how heavy is your head?” he teased. She scoffed and slapped his thigh in retaliation to his words. “You .” She muttered before getting up and heading to the bathroom. When she returned, Yoongi was in the kitchen getting drinks for the both of them. He brought the drinks through to the living room and sat beside her on the couch, casually slinging one arm around her shoulders. She leaned against him, a small smile on her face from the simple act of affection.
They spent the rest of the day lazing around the house. Yoongi offering to help her cook dinner which ended up taking almost three hours as she had to help him with even the simplest tasks. When they finally sat down to eat, they were starving. “I totally get Jin’s frustration with you. You really are a terrible cook.” She said with a smile as she picked up some oddly shaped vegetables and popped them into . Yoongi pouted, “They might not look good, but they taste fine.” He muttered indignantly.
She laughed, “That’s only because I stopped you from putting in sesame oil instead of soy sauce! Honestly, how can you not tell the difference?” she said with a huge smile on her face. Yoongi flicked a piece of rice at her. “Shut up.” He grumbled as he ate a large spoonful of rice to hide his embarrassment. She chuckled at him and for the first time in years, she felt like everything was perfect.
