Chapter 3: I want You
Forbidden LoveSeolhyun’s POV:
I am so excited to meet Mina after school. She is, after all, my only connection to my (unchequered?) past, my liberal past that was unburdened with the order that rests on my shoulders today. Nah, who am I kidding. I’m just happy to meet an old friend.
You see, Mina was my best friend (well, in all honesty, one of my best friends) in secondary school, and (as of now) still probably is. She is quirky, hilariously random and maddeningly rude. She doesn’t care about anything at all, which probably explains the illustriousness (or un-illustriousness) of the school she is in right now.
I won’t consider myself as one who is very popular or easily sociable; I would say that I cherish true friendships over many acquaintances but that is a lie because I was realistically only capable of having the former. I remember when I first met her—it was during literature class a few years back. She was reassigned to my lit class about half way through the term, and she “entertained” us with random taglines for random characters—youtube, actual movies or otherwise—the whole lesson, and the next, and the next (yes b0ss). I found her interesting, and started talking to her, and eventually we became close friends.
I was pretty sure that Mina would make Yuna tag along as well. Yuna one-upped Mina—she didn’t even make it to junior college, and is now working at Starbucks (yes, before you ask, she didn’t give us discounts, nor did she write our names on our orders correctly). And with this academic failure came a sense of pragmatism—she was always the cold, calculating monster that halted us in the middle of our fantasies to tell us what we already knew—that they were fantasies.
Although she and Mina were part of my clique (who am I kidding here again? No one. Our clique included she, Mina and I. Only. God I feel like a failure now), I wouldn’t claim to know Yuna as well as I should. She was, after all, first and foremost Mina’s best friend—in fact it was through her that I got to know Tuna Yuna. They were ostensibly close friends, always going out and doing things together, and sharing so much skinship that I on occasion felt like a third wheel in their relationship.
In fact whenever we were talking about love or watching romcoms those two would inevitably blush (AT THE SAME TIME!!!) and surreptitiously glance at each other. Simply put, both would think about how much they liked each other, and proceed to do nothing, absolutely nothing about it.
From their skin colour (red is the identifier here for those who have not caught on) this mutual crushing has been going on for 3 years.
Of course, they aren’t dating yet.
Those shy retards.
Hyejeong’s POV:
Marking . It really does.
As a student my common sentiment (I’m sure we all shared it) was that that old hag of a teacher is probably sipping tea everyday
