“you’re hiding under the blanket
because you’re blushing?”

"Hey," Jinyoung suddenly says one Sunday morning, looking up from his phone. Gongchan grunts beside him, not even bothering to look up from his book.

They're in Jinyoung's room—or Gongchan's adopted room—somewhat spending their morning together, without physical contact, after waking up to the raging heat of the sudden burst of summer. The time they would usually spend cuddling is replaced by a relaxing, quiet reading time, or in Jinyoung's case... binge watch anime.

"I've been thinking.." he starts.

"That's new," Gongchan mutters, earning a forehead flick by Jinyoung. "I mean, continue."

"When..." Jinyoung trails off, heaving a sigh of frustration. "When..."

"Just say it already," Gongchan whines, pinching the bridge of his nose while settling the book on his lap. He can't concentrate on reading if Jinyoung has something to say, something that he may or may not know what it's about.

"When did we start dating?" Jinyoung says, biting his lip.

Knew it, Gongchan thinks, but still ends up growing a blush on his cheeks.

"How am I supposed to know?" He mutters, not daring to look at Jinyoung.

"I don't know, I thought you were the type to keep count—"

"What? That's what girls do!" The younger says, suddenly lying down and pulling the sheets up until he's completely covered. "I'm not a girl.." he says, voice muffled by the sheets.

"Oh," Jinyoung says as he glances at the small blanket-covered figure beside him. "Wasn't it around this time? Or was it mid-summer—"

"April 24th," the blanket burrito says. "Today."

"Is it actually?"

"Yes.." Gongchan mutters, somehow managing to curl up even more.

"How do you know? I thought you didn't keep count?" Jinyoung says, a smile forming on his face. "I thought only girls did that. Are you a girl then?" he teases, hearing the younger mutter something under his breath.

"What was that? I didn't hear you." Jinyoung presses, leaning over towards the little bundle.

"I'm not a girl." Gongchan says, a little louder this time.

"But you still keep count?" The little bundle moves in response, probably nodding.

"I knew it!" Jinyoung exclaims, wrapping his arms around Gongchan's frame and pulling him on top of his chest. He presses a kiss on what he assumes to be Gongchan's head, since he's still quiet wrapped up, before squeezing him tightly.
