new year's resolution

"Jinyoung..." Gongchan started, "may I ask you something?" He fiddled with the strings from his hoodie and bit his inner cheek.

"I guess so? You can just go ahead and ask, you know? I think we're past that level." Jinyoung said from the other side of Gongchan's room, as he mindlessly strummed his guitar. He stopped, put the pick in his mouth, and wrote a few notes down on the journal resting atop all the clutter on the desk. Gongchan, despite being the cute little sprite he is, was quite the messy one, Jinyoung noted, though he didn't mind.

"Yeah, but I didn't want to bother you," he whispered. Jinyoung looked up questioningly. "I-I mean, do you have your new year's resolution already?"

Jinyoung shrugged. "Not really. I don't think I'll have one since I always end up giving up a week in," he said, then looked up. "Though I guess it won't hurt to dream, right?"

Gongchan just nods softly, and pulls his knees up to his chest. Jinyoung puts his guitar down then leans back against the desk chair (which was quite comfy, thank goodness Gongchan is quite the gamer).

"Maybe write a few more songs this year? Like, good ones this time. Oh! And possibly make a YouTube account or a Soundcloud to post all my stuff!" He grins. "Probably get a better job, too, since I'm clearly not getting anywhere. Hey, YouTube pays, right? That actually seems like a good idea now that I think about it. Man, this new year's resolution stuff is like magic. I wonder how much they pay. Hmm... But I guess there's more important questions before that. Like, buying the necessary equipment, getting a good glo up this year, and you know, actually doing something—"

Everything else fell deaf of Gongchan's ears, for he was too busy thinking about Jinyoung and his almost failed music career, now that the other brought it up. Jinyoung was actually a pretty good songwriter, and he wasn't too bad with his guitar. The only reason he didn't get anywhere is because of the lack of connections.

Gongchan believed—and has never told anyone this—that he could even become and idol he wanted to. All he needed was to go and audition and he's sure he'll make it into some company at least where he can spend the next years preparing for a debut and—wait.

Gongchan froze (as if was even moving to start with) and bit his lip. What if Jinyoung had done that? Or more importantly, what if he does do that? If he becomes recognized, then wouldn't that mean he'll start a new stage in his life? Away from him? No, he doesn't want to think about that, at least not t
