“What did you do to him?” Kibum’s mother asks. Her voice is shaky with fear. Her husband ignores her. “What did you do it him?” she repeats. He glances up from his papers. “Shut up, woman. He got what he deserved.”
“Please,” she begs, falling to her knees. “I need to know.”
“He’s admitted in an institution.” Her husband bit out.
Kibum’s mother’s body shakes violently with wracking sobs. “Wh-where-”
“I said shut up.” Her husband hisses. “Do you want to join him? I’m tolerating your only for my baby boy. He hates you now. What reason do I have to keep you here?”
She looks up at her husband, eyes wide and scared. “Pl-please-”
“I have the authorities convinced that the doctor is mentally unstable. He has been admitted in Gonjiam.” Her husband says. His wife wails out loud, hitting the floor with her fists.
“Punish me, please, not him, he didn’t do-”
Her husband walks up to her in two smooth strides, and lifts her with one hand, by the collar of her shirt. “I said, shut up. This is punishment enough for you. Watching your lover fester with other filthy insane people is punishment enough.” With that, he walks away.

“I saw colours, Jjong,” I say, and my voice is shaky. I struggle to steady it, to try to sound confident, but I can’t. “I saw too many colours. My neurons got overworked, and I seized. Eighteen times,”
Jonghyun stares at me, unreadable emotions going through his eyes.
“Say something,” I plead.
He pushes the CD into my arms and walks away, taking my heart along, ripping it out of my chest, leaving a blood-red trail of scarlet life behind.
“Jjo-Jjong-” I gasp, tears blurring my vision, fear clutching my heart as the colours start seeping in. Irrational panic holds my mind, and I imagine my brain electrifying into a smoky mess because of the colours.
I lean onto the wall, trying to calm down, trying to slow my heavy breaths down, closing my eyes, waiting for the lights to flash, when I feel Jonghyun’s warm hands around me, pushing me to the wall.
“I’m sorry,” he whispers. “I’m so sorry, I didn’t think,”
