The Fault In Our FateDoes it ever drive you crazy
just how fast the night changes?
But it will never change

April, 2011
Luhan used to love birthdays.
It was the anniversary of his born day, for the matter of fact. It was a celebration of his arrival into the world, a celebration of his mother’s fight against death when she was giving birth to him. It was the day where he would get a lot of things, free from his friends and family. It was the day where he met Sehun for the first time.
But after being with Sehun, he came to hate it.
It was simple, the reason behind it. It wasn’t about his own birthday though. But as he came to understand, birthday in general is just a reminder that you’ve just lost another year. That your time is coming closer, and closer. Just like in a countdown, birthday is the ticking clock’s hand.
Which was why he decided not to celebrate his birthday with a party anymore.
And yet Sehun never got the message.
“I told you,” Luhan sighed for the nth time since the morning, “I don’t celebrate birthdays anymore.”
“Yeah. As if it ever stopped me.” Sehun smirked, leaning against the window of the vehicle. They were in Sehun’s black, expensive looking sedan, and Luhan was permitted to drive it that day. A birthday privilege from Aunt Gui.
It was Thursday, and thankfully Luhan didn’t have any class, because when he was still groggy in the morning from a good sleep, Sehun already banged the door of his apartment with unnecessary excitement. Luhan loathed being woken up rudely but it was Sehun, all his anger and distaste vanished the moment Sehun flashed a boyish smile at him, making his heart went tha-thump.
(Oh, right, Luhan hasn’t sorted his feelings out that time.)
Sehun always made a mini party for his birthday, with an excuse of throwing a party for his own which was eight days before Luhan. When Luhan asked why he didn’t celebrate his own at the exact day, Sehun told him it was because he wanted to celebrate it with Luhan. But deep down Luhan knew Sehun just wanted him to have a birthday party.
After all, Sehun was the only one who understood his distaste for birthdays. None of them really said ‘happy birthday’ to each other on their birthdays. Sehun only took him out on some sort of mini party for the two of them, without declaring the words.
Because whenever it was Sehun’s birthday, it was a reminder that Sehun’s time had shortened by a year more.
“We’re here.” Luhan announced. “At your amusement park. Rich pickle.”
OS Land, the affiliation company of OS Group, was one of the biggest amusement parks in Seoul. And to think that Sehun’s family technically owned it sometimes overwhelmed Luhan. He was never a fan of rides – since he’s scared of heights – thus he didn’t go to the place that much. But he knew for sure that amusement parks should be crowded with people at any given day.
Which was why he frowned when there was literally no one on sight when he drove away from the entrance gate. “Why are the parking lots empty?”
“Invisible cars, Luhan.”
“Seriously.”
“Just follow me.” Sehun said once the car stopped. He got out of the vehicle as fast as lightning. Luhan felt nauseous out of sudden. The kid was up to no good.
The place was empty. Literally empty. It was already seven in the evening, yet the lights weren’t all on. Only a few from the street lamps. “Why is it so dim here.” Luhan murmured to himself. He hates dark more than he hates heights.
