“ – han, Luhan, hey, wake up, man, you’re going to ruin your tux!”

Luhan immediately jolts up from his seat. He gasps for air as he turns at Minseok. “What – why – what??”

“You’re going to ruin your tux. And your hair. My wife spent like the entire day trying to find the perfect hairstyle for you today so keep it untouched or I’ll break your neck.”

“Geez, bun cheek, why you gotta be so mean.” Luhan hisses as he fixes himself on the couch. “I didn’t even realize I fell asleep.”

“Well, I didn’t even realize that a groom could ever fall asleep on his wedding day, so.” Minseok rolls his eyes. “Final preparation in fifteen minutes. Don’t. Ruin. The hair.”

Luhan grins sheepishly at Minseok as he watches his friend disappearing behind the door. He leans back against the couch again with a smile. Today is his twenty fifth birthday, and is also his wedding day with Irene. He didn’t dare to ask Minseok how does his bride look right now because probably Irene will be shining brightly in her all-white wedding dress, all with her goddess-like face. Even Jongin and Jongdae were severely awe-struck when Luhan showed the boys a picture of Irene trying out the wedding gown. His parents are in a very, very good mood ever since morning and while his soon to be mother in law is still busy trying to calm his soon to be father in law down (losing a daughter over someone is a big deal apparently). The atmosphere is great. Everyone is having a good time even before the ceremony starts.

But ironically, the wedding is not the thing that makes Luhan nervous inside.

Today is supposed to be the day the result to Sehun’s latest surgery comes out. Sehun had a heart transplantation surgery just a week ago, and they were told to wait for the result for at least six to seven days. The result would be about the compatibility of the new heart with Sehun’s body. They were told it was a successful surgery and that Sehun had quite high hopes. With a new heart, Sehun is expected to be able to live normally; have a family, start a proper job, going out with friends – with Luhan.

That’s literally why Luhan is all nervous and also giddy at the same time.

He pulls out his smart phone, turning on its screen. He laughs softly as his wallpaper show up; a picture of Sehun having just woken up on his hospital bed. It was from last year, and since old is gold, Luhan has been using the wallpaper ever since. It gives Irene a good laugh (“gosh I can’t wait to meet him – he looks like you!”). But it gives a bittersweet feeling to him.

Bittersweet. He recalls the dreams he had in just a short span of an accidental nap. He had dreamed about his years with Sehun. From the first time they met to his visit to America last year. They were playing back in his head like a bittersweet old movie. Maybe it’s because his mind is consumed up with Sehun’s wellbeing.

There’s a knock from the door. “Preparation time, Luhan! Are you sleeping again??”

He laughs as he shoves the phone to his pocket. But then he pauses. Why would he be bringing a phone to the altar? He fishes it out again and throws it over the couch.

He’s finally nervous because of the wedding now.

Irene and her father are just behind the enormous door across the hall. The host is still saying his opening words as Luhan intertwines his fingers together, trying to soothe down himself. He gulps down, trying to find familiar faces. At least next to him is Minseok, his best man, who’s raising an eyebrow at him. He turns away at the crowd.
