Between Two WorldsChapter 15

Friday had arrived. Today was the first day of the ball. I spoke with my parents and told them that I would be leaving school early to visit my grandmother. The bluntly stated that they remembered, and still wanted me to make sure that I got all of my school work from my teachers before leaving and that it still needed to be done on Monday. I sighed and rolled my eyes, like a normal teenager and walked out the door with a quick wave.
My backpack was heavier than usual today. Inside I had various other things to improve my chances with the prince. I had a bottle of my mother's perfume that I had 'borrowed,' a flashlight, my cell phone and a portable charger. I brought a few pairs of my own clothes as well. I had recently noticed that my key for the back entrance to the school was missing. I tried my best not to worry about it as I would not need it before the ball. I rushed to my locker and stored everything before rushing to the teachers lounge to get my assignments. Most of my teachers already had them prepared and paperclipped together, as my mother had called to inform them that I would be missing the day. I took the papers with gratitude, and bid them farewell. I had one more person that I wanted to see before I left.
I waited at Taekwoon's locker for him. When the first bell rang and he had still not arrived. I wrote him a quick note and stuffed it into the crack in his locker.
What are we?

I had been thinking about what Ken said two days ago. What were we? What was making it so hard for me to ask? I had steeled my determination and decided that no matter what I would ask him today. He was not there but I was not going to let this stop me. I sighed and went back to my locker to receive what was needed for my weekend, and ran to the costume hall, more excited than normal.
When I arrived in Saint Malo, I immediately went to the small room, and startled the people waiting there.
"Sometimes it's easy to forget you aren't from here.”
”What are you even wearing."
Looking down I saw that I was still in my school uniform. "Sorry I was in a hurry. What time do people start to arrive? Are there guests already here?"
They all began to laugh at me, "Calm down, the guests will start to arrive between mid day and noon. There is no need to panic, you will be fine."
First we are going to call Sunny up. She will give you some more information on the women's clothings as well as dos and don'ts She will also help you with your hair.
“It is going to be difficult to remember, we were supposed to go over all of this yesterday. Speaking of, why were you not here? Wen waited for you for quite a while and you never arrived." Ken let a small humph for his inconvenience.
“Sorry, I was sick yesterday.” I apologized, “I just had too much going on. I am much better now. No issues, I promise.”
Sunny walked into the room with her normal cheerful expression. She immediately changed the subject. "Let's get you into this gown." I nodded and she stepped forward holding an odd contraption in her hands. "Matilda really out did herself with your gown. I have no clue how she thought this up." As she came closer, I saw that she was holding a corset with false s at the top. "Come one, shirt off now."
