Secrets...

Once we are finished with breakfast I ask Mimi and my unnie:
"Can we continue our search for Mimi the puppy, please? I miss her so much and I'm scared that something might've happened to her..."
Tears are once again running down my face at this and Mimi caresses my hair softly while saying:
"Don't worry, unnie. I'm sure that the little furball is alright. Though I also think that it's very odd that she still didn't return home after such a long time. Maybe she got lost and doesn't find the way back anymore..."
My unnie exclaims:
"I will drive us over to the park and we can try to look for her there. If she went lost there then it is highly possible that she in fact still is there now and really got lost like Mimi said.
However, I am still wondering about the reason to her sudden disappearance. Please tell me once again how everything went that day."
I answer HyoJung unnie:
"Well, Mimi and I went into the park together with the puppy, since she seemed very eager for a walk outside. Once we arrived there Mimi started throwing a stick at the puppy and they played for a while and suddenly I heard Mimi call out for the puppy and knew that something was wrong."
My cheeks are heating up when my unnie asks me at this:
"How come you say that Mimi suddenly called out for the puppy? Where you spacing out again, Yeon Ju-ah?"
I gulp down heavily and answer her my voice thick with guilt:
"Yes, I had another depressive attack. Not a severe one, but strong enough to not be able to comprehend what was going on until I heard Mimi call out for the puppy. I feel so guilty, unnie. If I would've had a clear mind then I might could've prevented this from happening and safe the puppy..."
Mimi whispers in my ear softly:
"Unnie, it definitely wasn't your fault that this happened. I could've watched out better as well, but I have to admit that I was also kinda distracted by the sight of you. You looked so beautiful with the wind blowing through your hair..."
I blush madly at her words that she fortunately said very quiet so that my unnie wasn't able to hear them. Oh my, it seems like we might aren't too responsible when it comes to taking care of pets..."
The combination of a once mute and a paralyzed person might not be a match made in heaven when it comes to being a puppy's parents...
If only HyoJung unnie had been with us that day... The car has stopped, since we've arrived at the park. My mind once again is drifting off to Mimi and my first meeting here almost one month ago.
Mimi and I are actually holding hands while walking through the park which gives me a safe feeling. My unnie asks us:
"Can you remember the place you played with the puppy?"
Mimi shows her a grassfield at this and I shake my head and say:
"No, this wasn't the place. I am 100 percent sure that it was over there!"
At this I show into the other direction. Mimi shakes her head and says:
"No, unnie. You're wrong. It definitely wasn't over there, but over here."
My unnie heaves a sigh and exclaims:
"Seems like we have a long search before us then! I thought that you were so sure and now look at you telling me two different stories. The thing is that the brain of each individual processes the same information differently and since the event was a while back already your memories become unclear..."
I turn my gaze down and I feel so hopeless at this moment. Mimi squeezes my hand reassuringly and whispers:
"Don't worry, unnie. I won't leave the park until we have found the puppy no matter how long we might have to search for it."
I smile at her thankfully and tell her:
"You're so sweet, Mimi-ah. I also won't leave without the puppy. That little furball simply has to be somewhere in this park. Unless..."
Mimi and HyoJung unnie both look at me expectantly and ask in unision:
"Unless what?"
I bite my lower lip and answer them carefully:
"Someone else has taken her home with them..."
Both their eyes are widening in shock and my unnie immediately says:
"Taking animals with you randomly is forbidden by law. Mimi-ah had a chip... Oh my God, that's it! She is chipped and therefore we can track her! Why didn't I think about that option before?"
I squeal in delight at this and I ask excitedly:
"Are you able to do this on your own, unnie?"
She nods her head and answers me:
"Yes, I have her code and this I simply have to type into a website which will show me where exactly Mimi-ah is currently at."
That's perfect! We immediately decide to drive back home and track Mimi-ah down. Hopefully, she is still in Seoul and safe and sound!
My unnie types in Mimi's code into the system and it doesn't take long until we see the location. All of our eyes are widening in disbelief when it turns out that she is nowhere else but at Mimi's old apartment.
What on earth is going on here? This smells extremely fishy to me somehow! Mimi turns her gaze down and whispers:
"I think I know who is behind this now..."
Both HyoJung unnie and I look at her in confusion and ask:
"Who?"
But Mimi doesn't answer us and instead simply says:
"If my assumptions are true we need to hurry, since Mimi might be in danger. You can never know what this person might do to her..."
We leave our home again and drive off to Mimi's old apartment in full speed. My heart is beating hard against my ribcage in fear.
Mimi what are you hiding from me?
