'Let's welcome this year's Melon Music Awards (MMA), Best Rookie Awards presenter, Winner!' The MC announces

Fan chants with blue light sticks can be heard from everywhere of the stadium as 5 boys walk onto the stage... As expected, the group is famous despite of having only a debut album

5 girls, dressed in maid outfits (I DON'T KNOW HOW TO DESCRIBE EM'), clap ecstatically. It has been nearly around a year after all, since they all last seen them, except Yeri though

'Guess who's back? We are Winner!'

The girls clap once again

Irene looks at the monitor before glancing at him, God he looks fine, as usual

Frankly, Mino and Irene have been texting each other since their debut

Throwback to August 2014

'Happiness~! Annyeonghaseyeo, Red Velvet inmidaa! Please take care of us!' The 4 girls greet as they bump into Winner in the corridor of SBS building for Inkigayo

'Heheheheh ye..yess... I wat..watched your performance earlier... it was good' Seungyoon says shyly

The girls giggle... what a time to be alive, Mino thinks as he stares at them, particularly at her

Seunghoon taps his leader's shoulder

'Yahh... shouldn't we greet them first?'

'O..oh right!' Seungyoon laughs awkwardly as he carries on with their group greetings

'We have heard a lot from you... errr... What should we call you?' Wendy says while chuckling in the awkward atmosphere. The group goes on with a light conversation, self introductions and stuff... typical rookie conversations

As for Mino, he is unusually quiet as he stands behind his fellow members, trying to steal a glance of the goddess that is right in front of him. He is not used to be around girls, since he has been focusing on his rapping career, instead of stealing girls hearts since his teens

As for Irene, she has always been quiet and shy around strangers. She remembers that no one would speak to her back in the beginning of her trainee period, because she rarely talks and seems scary. However, she cannot help but glance at the near-6-feet giant standing in front of her

'Minho-ah, you haven't introduce yourself yet' Seunghoon says as he pushes his dongsaeng up front

Irene looks up at his facial features

'O..oh really? Ha...haa... Ermm.. annyeonghaseyeo... Song Minho-inmida'  Mino bows

'Waaaaaaa' Seulgi and Wendy claps excitedly. Irene smiles upon hearing his voice. Sure she has heard about him, I mean like who in Korea has not heard of Team A & Team B? She was secretly a Team A stan, Mino's stan to be specific, so seeing him right in front her eyes was a gift from God

'We are your fan!!' Seulgi and Wendy say together. Hell yes the whole Red Velvet was a fan and avid viewer of WIN, Irene remembers that they would watch the show during break time or before bed through Naver

'Rea..really? Kam..kamsahamidaa' Mino bows again

The group carries on their conversation again, about the challenges of making a debut, and what the future has for them. They can relate to each other, after all they were from Big 3 and debut around the same period

'He..heyy' Mino says awkwardly as he looks at Irene shyly

'He..hello' Irene replies back

'Your name was... Irene.. right?'

Mino extends his hand

'Ye..yea' Irene looks and shakes his hand shyly

And there, a small friendship is formed

4 days later, Mino manages to obtain her precious phone number as both of their groups bump into each other for M!Countdown. Since then, they have been texting each other frequently, despite of their busy schedules

Mino has been whining about how short their debut promotions were compared to other rookie groups, and how much he misses kimchi (and Korean food) when he was in Japan for a while. As for Irene, she is not the type that will whine or open up on her problems, so she will often chuckle on Mino's childish whinings and gave him the comfort and advice he needs.

At the end of the day, Irene was human after all. She rarely whines but when she does, Mino makes sure that he would be there all day to listen to it.

Without knowing, Irene slowly fell for Mino in the process, and she hates herself for that

December 2014

As if life was playing cupid, Fate has brought MinRene together for a special collaboration for SBS Gayo Daejun

'Hello there, I'm your choreographer for today, Micheal Fate, you can call me Mr. Fate, if you want' The foreign choreographer says in English

'As you know, some of you will be paired up fro this stage, right?'

The translator translate as the big group of people nods their heads

'Okay so let me read out your names.... err... Nam... Taehyun with Wendy, Jackson Wang with Kang Seullll..gi, Yu..yugyeom with Joy... gosh Korean names are hard, go get an English name, Mr Yu..yugyum'

Everyone laughs at Mr Fate's weird pronunciation and humor

'And lastly, Song Minho and Irene Bae'

Red Velvet and Winner members howl like bunch of animals as they teased Irene and Mino. They were aware of MinRene's "relationship"

Mino looks at Irene with a warm smile, Irene smiles back

Present Time

Irene smiles warmly again, as she watches Mino patting and hugging iKon members on stage for the Best Male Rookie award. Irene knows how much Mino treasures iKon as his dongsaengs.

After Big Bang, Winner and iKon gone back stage, Red Velvet, too, is told to go back stage due to insufficient seats for other artists

Before entering their waiting room, Irene looks at the door across the corridor

Just then, the door opens and Bobby comes out

'Oh, annyeonghaseyeo sunbaenim' Bobby and the remaining members bow respectfully, Irene returns the bow with a gentle smile

'Oh!' Taehyun says from inside of them waiting room. Irene looks into the waiting room, only Seungyoon and Taehyun were inside

'Hmm..'

'Minho isn't here, he went out to take a quick puff of cigg' Seungyoon says as a matter of fact

Suddenly, a surge of anger boils within Irene. She cannot believe Mino was still smoking, after she has advised him not to for the past year

She releases a deep sigh before entering her waiting room

(Look at Irene!!!)

'Woooo!' Red Velvet members howl as Irene enters

'Wha-- What the' Irene looks surprised

In front of her, stood a tall familiar man, holding his hand phone in a selfie position

*Click* Mino takes a picture of Irene's surprised expression before laughing

'What are you doing?' Irene rushes to Mino

'Making memories' Mino says as he laughs at the picture

'What are you doing here? What if people notice you' Irene hisses out of concern as she tries to pull Mino

'Ahaha don't worry, I got permission from your manager' Mino pulls out of Irene's grip before hugging her

More howls could be heard from the room. Irene blushes as her heart beats faster and faster

'Smooth oppa, smooth' Wendy says while giggling with Seulgi

Irene looks up like a cat

'I forgot how small I am when I'm with you' Irene says as she tightens the hug

No one could put a label on their relationship. Mino constantly flirts with Irene, like sending texts like

'I miss you noona'

'I luv youuuu'

'Don't you love me?'

Yet Irene takes these texts as one of Mino's lame jokes, and swore that she would not fall for that trap, and we all know what happened next

'Ew, get a room' Seulgi teases

Everyone chuckles

MinRene realises that they are not alone, so they immediately break apart from the hug

'Red Velvet, you're up again' The staff says, indicating Red Velvet has to go to the artist area again

'Nehh!'

'I'll see you later' Irene says as she walks away disappointingly

Mino nods his head

'Oh there you are' Taeyang suddenly appears in front of the waiting room, who surprises Red Velvet

'Annyeonghaseyeo sunbaenim!' The 5 girls bows extra low in front of their big sunbae

Taeyang smiles and bows back before

'Minho-ah, we are supposed to go up now... I've been searching for you'

'Us?' Mino says in surprise

'Yea, we are nominated for an award, remember?'

'Owh, neh, Youngbae-hyung

'The winner of MMA's Hot Trend Award.... Congratulations, Song Mino & Taeyang!'

Everyone in the artist area stand up and congratulate the duo for winning. Irene looks at Mino with a warm smile as he walks up the stage with Taeyang, fans chants could be heard singing along to the hook of "Fear"

'Nehh... I heard that this award was voted by our fans, so I would like to thank you all for this meaningful award. Err... I would like to thank my producers, Zico hyung, Palo hyung, Youngbae hyung, who took some time off to help me despite of his world tour... Erm... My 4 members, who supported me throughout the competition'

The camera shoots the 4 members sitting with a warm smile

'Lastly, I wanna thank a friend.... a noona to be specific... for supporting me too, during my lowest period of time... You're the reason why I'm standing here now, and forward.... Thank you, noona, and... saranghaeyo'

Right, Irene remembers how much she had to comfort Mino when he was competing in SMTM4. The phrase "Song Mino is going to win anyways", the one verse which offended a lot of woman and people online, the selfish decision of Brand New Team, the diss battle and so on. Irene remembers Mino literally broke down during that time and it hurts Irene that she could not go over and hug him or do something

But certainly, Mino's little confession caught her off guard, and she was blushing hard during that moment, she prays that no fancams managed to catch that image

Irene's POV

'Me too... I love you too'
