“Yah! Jessica ssi!”, exclaimed the woman in her early 30s as she felt annoyed the latter didn't reply to her after she was calling Jessica’s name many times. Jessica was in her own little world, thinking of what she should answer when her turn to be called as the next candidate for job interview.
“N-ne?”, Jessica startled as she finally replied.
“It’s your turn now. Go get inside”, the woman said with a straight face.
°Dae”, Jessica quickly got up and put her handbag strap on her shoulder. She bowed to the woman and fixed her glasses and straighten her blouse before she entered inside the interview room.
“A-annyeong haseyo”, she greeted the interviewer as she bowed.
“Miss Jessica Jung Sooyeon, right?”, the interviewer asked.
“Y-yes”, she answered nervously while lowered her head, didn’t dare to look at the interviewer. She heard the interviewer chuckled.
“Miss Jung. Don’t be nervous, okay? Have a seat please”, the interviewer’s sudden soft voice causing her to lift her head. She gasped when she found out the interviewer was only a man who looked so young, and not to mention a handsome one.
“T-thank you”, she said as she immediately took her seat.
“Alright, Miss Jung. Shall we begin now? Are you ready?”, the young man asked.
“Y-yes, I’m ready, Sir”, she replied. Again, the young man chuckled, causing Jessica to wonder what was going on with him.
“Please don’t call me Sir, Miss Jung. I feel so old. I’m just 25 years old, you know”, he said while smiling, causing Jessica to smile back.
“Oh my God! He’s even younger than me!”, she thought.
“My name is Choi Sooyoung. You can call me Mr. Choi or Sooyoung if you want too”, he said with a smile still not leaving from his face. Jessica’s heart fluttered seeing the said Mr. Choi Sooyoung was talking rather friendly to her. At least, it helps her to lessen her nervousness.
“D-dae, Mr. Choi”, Jessica replied. Sooyoung then started to look at the file which contained Jessica’s resume.
“Okay, Miss Jung. You’re graduated from Stanford University, majoring in Textile Design. May I know, why are you applying for the personal assistant job? Don’t you think it’s not suitable with your majoring?”, Sooyoung said. Jessica cleared before she answered.
“You see, Mr. Choi. I just came back from States, and my friend recommended me to try applying for this job. You know, it is hard to find a job that suitable with your majoring nowadays. It’s too competitive”, she replied confidently. Sooyoung nodded his head while smiling.
“Gosh! He looks so cute when he smile”, she thought.
“You’re absolutely right, Miss Jung. One thing I just want to know from you. Are you really don’t mind being a personal assistant? I mean, yeah, usually some candidates who are a degree holder might think that this job is too easy for them and not really challenging. They might end up feeling bored and eventually will quit their job. Don’t you think so?”, Sooyoung asked. Although the question might sound too easy for Jessica to answer, Sooyoung just wanted to know the answer from her perspective.
“It doesn’t mean that if you’re a degree holder, you must do your work according to what you have learned in college. By that I mean, according to what you’re majoring. I think as a person, we need to open our mind, exploring new things which we never experienced in our life, learning new things, especially the things that we are not familiar with. How can we gain an experience in doing something beyond our ability if we’re not trying to do it first, am I right, Mr. Choi?”, Jessica replied as she slowly gained her confidence in answering the interviewer’s question. Although it might sounded easy for her to answer, she knew, Sooyoung was an intelligent person. He might wanted to test her level of thinking by throwing her with such question. Otherwise, she will end up failing in this interview. She must ensure that she is able to answer the questions as best as possible. She could see Sooyoung nodded his head again, with a satisfaction smile carved on his lips.
“Yes, you’re right again, Miss Jung. A good worker usually will do his/her work diligently without relying too much on the knowledge he/she possessed during college time. It doesn’t mean that what you have learned in school, you need to apply according of what your textbook or your teacher taught you. Doing a work means that you need to plan and think out of the box. Think that how are you going to execute the task given according to your logical mind. Sometimes you have to decide on your own on what kind of action you should take in making sure your work can be done without depending much on your boss. Sometimes you have to work independently”, Sooyoung said.
“I understand that, Mr. Choi”, she replied. Sooyoung then continued reading her resume until his eyes glued to the certain part that causing him laughed so loud. Jessica furrowed her brows, feeling curious and weird at the same time while looking at Sooyoung.
“W-why did you put sleeping as your hobby, huh?”, he asked after his laughter died down. He found it so funny. Jessica’s face flushed the moment Sooyoung was asking about her extraordinary hobby.
“W-well, you see, Mr. Choi, I love spent my time sleeping rather than doing anything. And, I love shopping too”, she replied with a sheepish smile. Sooyoung chuckled upon hearing her answer.
“Yeah, at least your main hobby doesn’t cost lots of money compared to the second one, right?”, he said teasingly. Jessica couldn’t help but to chuckle.
“And he’s funny too”, she thought. She was daydreaming about the young man in front of her until she didn't realize Sooyoung was asking the next question to her.
“Miss Jung, are you alright?”, he asked. Jessica startled as she finally back into the real world once again.
“Y-yes. I’m alright. I-I’m sorry, can I have your question back, Mr. Choi?”, she replied with her face reddened due to the embarrassment. Sooyoung smiled while repeating his question once again.
“I said, if you are hired right now, what would you do?”, he asked. Jessica’s eyes lit up the moment she heard the word ‘hired’.
“I promise I will do my job with the best I can, Mr. Choi”, she replied enthusiastically causing Sooyoung giggled.
“Arasso, arasso. Out of so many candidates I have interviewed today, you’re the only one who really shows your interest with this job. I don’t want to waste my time, so, congratulations, Jessica ssi! You are hired!”, Sooyoung said as he closed the file, and got up from the seat. He stretched out his hand to shake hands with the latter.
“I’m.. I’m hired?”, Jessica asked in disbelief as she got up from her seat. Sooyoung nodded his head smilingly.
“Yes, Jessica ssi”, he confirmed.
“T-thank you, Mr. Choi. Thank you so much!”, she shook her hand with the latter and bowed.
“You are welcome. You can come on tomorrow to start your work. Just go to the HR department to report to work, and the staff there will bring you to your new office”, he said.
“Erm.. Mr. Choi, can I know with whom I will be working?”, she asked.
“I’m not sure yet. It’s either with Mr. Choi Senior, or Mr. Choi Junior”, he replied.
“Huh?”, Jessica looked puzzled. Sooyoung chuckled while looking at the confused blonde haired girl.
“I’m not sure yet, Miss Jung. Just go to the HR department tomorrow, and you will know your boss on tomorrow. So, congratulations once again!”, he replied.
“D-dae. Thank you, Mr. Choi”, she thanked him before she walked towards the door and left the room. Jessica quickly fished out her phone from her handbag, and dialled a certain number.
“RING! RING! RING!”
“Yes, Jessie?”, the voiced answered.
“Tiffany Hwang! Guess what?”, she said.
“You failed the interview?”, the person she called ‘Tiffany Hwang’ guessed.
“Yah! How could you say like that!”, she exclaimed.
“Yah! How would I know? You asked me to guess, so I just guess though”, Tiffany exclaimed back.
“Aishh.. this brat. I got the job, silly!”, she said, causing Tiffany squealed in excitement. Jessica had to distance her phone away from her ear.
“Yah! Can you not to squeal like that? I can be deaf someday, you know”, she scolded her.
“Hehe.. sorry bestie! I’m so excited for you. But, how can you be hired so easily, huh? Did you do something to the interviewer like last time?”, Tiffany asked while chuckled.
Yes, Jessica’s past experience causing Tiffany to wonder on how she could be hired that fast. Jessica had her first interview in an advertising company few weeks ago, and being a girl who was born and raised in the States, she wore a very sophisticated attire at that time, a see-through white blouse with a short red skirt and black stilettos. Unfortunately, the interviewer at that time was a ert old man. He tried to touch and hug Jessica during the interview, but Jessica managed to escape herself from the ert old man by kicking his unfortunate crotch, and quickly ran away from the place. Poor Jessica! Starting on that day, every time she went for a job interview, she just wore a simple attire like long sleeve blouse and a long pants, and she also wore a pair of glasses, which made her look like a middle aged ahjumma.
“Let’s say that the interviewer falls for my charm”, she said with a grin.
“Eww! With your attire and your look right now, I don’t think so. Maybe he/she just pity on you because you look like an ahjumma”, Tiffany replied as she laughed. Jessica wasn't amused with Tiffany’s joke, and her face expression immediately changed into a cold ice princess.
“Say like that once again, I will kick you out of my penthouse!”, she warned the girl as she got pissed with her teasing.
“Hehe.. I’m sorry, okay? Alright, I need to continue my work. See you at home later”, Tiffany said.
“Yeah, see ya!”, Jessica replied as she ended the call. She then immediately walked towards the elevator.
The next day
“Alright, Jessica. Cheer up, and work hard starting from today. You can do it!”, Jessica said as she cheered to herself. Today will be her first day of working, but she couldn't help but to feel cold feet due to the nervousness. She kept on wondering who will be her boss later.
“Aishh.. don’t mind about that, Jessica. Whether he is Choi Senior or Junior, just show to your boss that you can do your work”, she mumbled to herself while still standing in front of The Choi Corporation building. She then walked towards the main entrance of the building, and headed to the receptionist counter.
“Annyeong Miss. May I know which level is the HR department?”, she asked the receptionist.
“Annyeong. The HR department is at level 18, Miss”, the receptionist replied.
“Thank you”, Jessica thanked her. She immediately walked towards elevator to go to level 18.
“DING!”
The elevator finally reached at level 18. Jessica could feel that her heart beats fast the moment she walked out of the elevator. She then immediately walked towards the HR office main door.
“Annyeong, Miss. Can I help you?”, the receptionist of the HR department greeted her right after Jessica entered the office.
“Ermm.. my name is Jessica Jung Sooyeon, and today is my first day reporting to work at HR department”, she replied. The receptionist then took something from the reception desk before she got up from her seat.
“This is your appointment letter, Miss Jung. Come, let me bring you to see our manager first”, the receptionist handed the white envelope which contains Jessica’s appointment letter, and she immediately lead Jessica to the manager’s room.
“KNOCK! KNOCK!”
“Yes, come in!”, a man’s voice was heard, calling them to get inside the room. The receptionist slowly opened the door.
“Annyeong, Mr. Kim. Miss Jung is here to report to work”, the receptionist said as she bowed to him.
“Oh, ask her to come inside”, Mr. Kim replied as he got up from his seat.
“Dae”, the receptionist then opened the door to let Jessica get inside the room.
“Annyeong… T-Taeyeon?”, Jessica said in surprise while looking at the “Mr. Kim”.
“Hehehe.. annyeong Sica! Have a seat please”, he replied with a chuckle. The receptionist then closed the door with a confuse look, but she just shrugged and left the room.
“Yah! How come Tiffany Hwang didn’t tell me you’re working here?”, Jessica exclaimed while glaring at the latter.
“Aishh.. let’s have a seat first, okay?”, Taeyeon said as he pulled the chair in front of his desk for Jessica.
“I’m so gonna smack her head when I go back later”, she said as she quickly sat on the chair. Taeyeon quickly rushed to his seat.
“Sica ya, calm down, will you? I think maybe Ppany forgot to tell you that I just got transferred here a week ago from our company’s branch in Suwon. When she told me that you’re looking for a job, I suddenly remembered our staff here e-mailed to me that there’s a vacancy for Personal Assistant in HQ office. So, I told her to ask you to send your resume to the HQ office”, Taeyeon explained.
“Aishh.. whatever, Taeng”, she said while crossed her arms. “So, with whom I will work? Who is my boss?”, she asked. Taeyeon smiled when hearing her question.
“Of course with Mr. Choi though”, he replied as he got up from his seat.
“Yesterday during the interview, Mr. Choi Sooyoung said that I’m going to work with whether Mr. Choi Senior or Choi Junior. What does he mean?”, Jessica asked.
“Chincha? He said like that to you?”, Taeyeon replied while raised his brows. Jessica nodded.
“Yup. So, Let me guess, Choi Junior is him, and Choi Senior is his father, am I right?”, she said as she tried to guess.
“I guess so. Come, let me bring you to meet Mr. Choi Sooyoung first”, Taeyeon replied and walked towards the door, waiting for Jessica to follow him to meet her boss for the first time.
“Hey, Naeun! Is Mr. Choi inside?”, Taeyeon asked the person who was sitting at the desk next to Sooyoung’s office.
“Yes, he’s inside, Taeyeon ssi”, the girl named Naeun replied while smiling at Taeyeon. “Who’s this, Taeyeon ssi?”, she asked while glanced at Jessica.
“Oh, this is Jessica Jung. She’s the new PA here. Okay, I will talk to you later. I want to bring Jessica ssi to meet our boss first”, Taeyeon said as he waved at Naeun smilingly and walked towards Sooyoung’s office room.
“What was that?”, Jessica whispered to him with a glare. She’s clearly doesn’t like the way Taeyeon treated Naeun. She feels like he’s trying to flirt with that girl and betraying her best friend.
“I was trying to be nice to our colleague though!”, he replied.
“Not by waving at her while smiling”, she said in annoyed tone.
“Aishh.. whatever, Sica!”, he replied as he rolled his eyes. He then knocked the door.
“KNOCK! KNOCK!”
“Come in!”, a voice shouted from inside the room. Taeyeon immediately twists the doorknob, and pushed the door slowly to open it.
“Good morning, Mr. Choi!”, Taeyeon greeted him with a grin.
“Yah! Just come inside, you dork!”, Sooyoung replied, causing Taeyeon and Jessica giggled. Taeyeon then entered inside, followed by Jessica from behind. Sooyoung who was busy typing something on his laptop immediately stopped his work when he saw Jessica standing behind Taeyeon.
“Oh! Jessica ssi! You’re here. Have a seat, please”, Sooyoung said as he got up from his seat and walked towards the couch.
“Yah! I greet you first though!”, Taeyeon exclaimed while glared at the latter. Sooyoung chuckled as he gestured Jessica and Taeyeon to sit on the couch.
“Alright, Jessica ssi. As I have mentioned yesterday that I’m not sure whether you’re going to be the PA for Mr. Choi Senior or Junior, right? So, after a discussion made yesterday, Mr. Choi Senior said he doesn't want a new Personal Assistant, so, you’re going to be a Mr. Choi Junior’s PA”, he said. Jessica looked confused as she was still clueless on who’s actually Mr. Choi Junior that was going to be her boss.
“Congrats, Jessica ssi! You’re now a Personal Assistant to Mr. Choi Sooyoung”, Taeyeon congratulated Jessica.
“C-chincha?”, she said, still with her confused look. Sooyoung and Taeyeon chuckled while looking at her. He then stood up and stretched out his hand to shake hands with her.
“Yes, Jessica ssi. You’re working with me starting from today. Please don’t get confused”, Sooyoung said while smiling, causing the latter's face reddened due to the embarrassment. She quickly stood up and shook hands with Sooyoung.
“Alright, boss. I need to continue my work. So, Sica, I’ll see you later okay?”, Taeyeon said as he stood up from the couch.
“Sica? You two know each other?”, Sooyoung asked while looking at Taeyeon.
“Yup. Jessica is my girlfriend’s best friend from States. Currently they stayed together, so, they’re housemates”, Taeyeon casually said.
“Ah, I see. Okay, I’ll see you at lunch, buddy”, Sooyoung replied while waving his hand at Taeyeon before he walked towards the door, and left the room.
“Buddy? Are you two close?”, Jessica dared herself to ask Sooyoung as she was curious.
“Yes. We were classmates and graduated from the same university. After graduated, I offered Taeyeon to work with our company, but, the vacant post was at our Suwon branch at that time. So, recently our HR Manager just got retired, so, I asked Taeyeon to fill the post and move to our HQ here”, he explained as he walked towards his desk. Jessica nodded understandingly. “Please have a sit, Jessica ssi”, Sooyoung said.
“Thank you, Mr. Choi”, Jessica replied as she took her seat in front of Sooyoung’s desk.
“Aishh.. no need to be so formal, Jessica ssi. Just call me Sooyoung”, he said with a his charming smile, a smile that made Jessica’s heart beats uneven.
“D-dae, Sooyoung ssi”, she replied. Sooyoung then took his organizer and opened it. He read through the content on it.
“Ermm.. since this is your first day of working, I think nothing much you can do today. Just to inform you that I will have a meeting with client outside at 3:00 this afternoon. The meeting will end up late, so, you don’t have to wait for me. I will go straight home from the meeting place”, he said.
“Dae, Sooyoung ssi”, Jessica replied as she opened her organizer and jotted some notes on it.
“Alright, Jessica ssi. Let’s go to the outside. I will show you your desk”, Sooyoung said as he closed the organizer and immediately stood up. He then walked towards the door, and hold the doorknob to let Jessica went out first.

Sooyoung then showed Jessica her desk, and he continued to introduce Jessica to her new colleagues at the CEO’s office.

After he had done with the introduce session of Jessica, he excused himself to go back to his office and continue the work he left earlier.
“Hi, Jessica ssi!”, Naeun walked towards Jessica’s desk and greeted her. Her desk was just next to Jessica.
“Hi, Naeun ssi! Nice to meet you”, Jessica stood up and stretched out her hand to shake hands with the latter. Naeun just touched the tip of Jessica’s fingers while looking at the latter from head to toe with a smirk. Jessica was wearing her usual attire, a long sleeve blouse with a long pants and a pair of glasses.
“So, you are the new PA of Mr. Choi, huh? Glad that you’re not that beautiful like me”, she snobbishly said. Jessica raised her brows while looking at the latter.
“Ermm.. Naeun ssi, just for you to know, I came here to work, not to have a beauty contest, or to compete with you or any other beautiful girls here”, she said while smiling, causing the other girl rolled her eyes annoyingly. Naeun then leaned closer to Jessica.
“And, just for you to know, Jessica ssi. Mr. Choi is mine. So, don’t do anything funny or else, you will get fired later”, Naeun whispered while giving a warning to her. Jessica snickered as she didn’t afraid with the latter’s warning. What Naeun does not know about Jessica Jung Sooyeon background is that, she also came from a wealthy family. His father was a prominent lawyer, and has his own law firm, while his mother was the owner of the largest textile factory in LA. Jessica also was a former beauty queen, and she has won several beauty pageants during her college days.
“I don’t really care whether he is yours or not. I’m here to work with him, and if you don’t mind, please excuse me. I have some works to do”, Jessica whispered to her back and just proceed tidying her desk casually, causing Naeun gritted her teeth in anger, and stomped back to her desk.
“Serves you right, loser!”, she mumbled while smirked.
Later on that afternoon
“Hey, Jessica. Want to join us for lunch?”, one of the staffs asked.
“Ah, thanks, but I have promised with my friend to have our lunch together”, Jessica replied politely.
“Alright, see you later!”, the staff replied and proceed to walk out of the office. She glanced at Naeun’s desk, and found out the latter wasn’t there. Maybe she’s already went out for lunch with other colleagues.
“Hey, Sica! Let’s have our lunch together”, Taeyeon said as he suddenly barged in and walked towards Jessica’s desk.
“You are not going to have your lunch with Tiffany?”, she asked.
“Nope. Her office is quite far from here, and I’m afraid we couldn't get to have our lunch since most of the road will have traffic jams during peak hours. This past one week I just had my lunch with Sooyoung in our cafeteria here”, he replied.
“I see. Wait, let me take my purse first”, Jessica said while opened the drawer, and took the purse from her handbag.
“Let me call Sooyoung first. You wait here, okay?”, Taeyeon replied. He was about to knock the door when suddenly Jessica called him.
“W-wait, Taeng! W-we are going to have a lunch with him?”, Jessica asked. Taeng nodded and proceed to knock the door.
“Come in, Kim Taeyeon!”, Sooyoung shouted from inside, causing Taeyeon chuckled. Jessica in other hand wasn’t amused at all as she felt uneasy to have a lunch with her boss for the first time.
“Hey, boss! Let’s have our lunch first. Jessica will be joining us. Ouchh!”, Taeyeon exclaimed in pain while rubbing his sore arm. Jessica pinched his arm earlier because of mentioning her name to Sooyoung.
“Chincha? Arasso”, he said after he closed the laptop lid, and took his cell phone before he walked out of the room.
“Let’s go!”, Sooyoung said while glancing at Jessica. “Jessica, are you okay joining us for lunch?”, he asked as the three of them walked towards the elevator.
“Huh? Y-yeah. I’m okay”, she shyly replied, causing Taeyeon smirked at her. Jessica shoot an icy glare at him, and the choding stuck his tongue out at her like a small kid. Sooyoung watched both of them while shook his head.
“Yah, Kim Taeyeon! Stop teasing her!”, Sooyoung said at his dorky friend. Taeyeon chuckled as the three of them then entered the elevator.
At the cafeteria
“Just take whatever you want to eat, okay? It’s on me”, Sooyoung said with a smile as he handed the empty tray to Jessica.
“Thanks, Sooyoung ssi. But, you don’t have to do..”, Jessica was about to continue her words when suddenly Taeyeon cut her off.
“Aishh.. just take it, Sica. It’s rare for our boss to treat you free lunch like today”, Taeyeon said with a grin.
“Yah! I treat you free lunch every day, you dork!”, Sooyoung exclaimed, causing Jessica to giggle. Taeyeon grinned while showed his peace sign to his boss. After the three of them done taking the food and drinks, Taeyeon lead them to the vacant table. They didn’t realize that Naeun and her clique were having their lunch not far from their table.
“Naeun, look over there. That ahjumma tried to seduce your boyfriend. It’s only her first day of working here, but she took a chance to have a lunch with him before you. What are you going to do now?”, one of Naeun cliques said to her, causing the latter gritted her teeth in anger.
“Urgh! That ugly ahjumma! I think I know how to teach her”, Naeun grunted. She then smirked while purposely stretched her right feet as she planned to play a dirty trick on the latter. Jessica who was walking at the left side of Sooyoung didn’t notice it, and tripped her feet onto Naeun’s feet when she was passing by their table. She fell down next to their table and the tray flung over, causing the food scattered and drinks spilled on the floor.
“Omo! Jessica! Are you okay?”, Sooyoung frantically asked as he gestured Taeyeon to come over and handed his tray to him. He kneeled down and helped Jessica to get up from the floor.
“I-I’m okay. It’s just my blouse and pants…”, her voice trailed off as she started to clean the dirt from her blouse and pants. Meanwhile, Naeun and her clique giggled silently while just looking at them. Some staffs started to gather around watching the incident causing both of them started to feel uneasy with the situation.
“Alright, guys! Just proceed with your lunch. Taeng, please call the worker to clean up this floor”, Sooyoung said as instructed Taeyeon to call the cafeteria worker to clean up the mess.
“Okay, boss!”, Taeyeon said as he quickly rushed to the cafeteria’s counter.
“Let’s get back to the office. I will send you home, and you can change your clothes later”, Sooyoung said as he ushered Jessica to walk first.
“B-but, what about your lunch? You still not eating anything. A-and, you will have a meeting this afternoon”, Jessica replied as she looked rather worried. Sooyoung just smiled.
“It’s okay. I can ask the client to postpone the meeting to another day”, he said.
“I-I’m so sorry, Sooyoung ssi. If I’m not clumsy and more careful with my steps, it wouldn’t happen like this”, she replied, feeling guilty of what had happened.
“It’s okay, Sica. It’s happened beyond our control, right?”, Sooyoung said.
“S-Sica?”, Jessica asked in surprise. Sooyoung quickly covered his mouth.
“Opss.. sorry!”, he said as he chuckled, and later Jessica joining him. “You don’t mind if I call you Sica like Taeyeon called you, right?”, he asked.
“Taeng and you are different person. He’s my friend, and you’re my boss”, Jessica replied.
“Hey, I can be your friend too, you know. Our ages has not much difference except the fact that I am a year younger than you and Taeng”, he said smilingly. Jessica couldn’t help but to agree on his words as she smiled.
“But, you’re still my boss”, she said. Sooyoung just shook his head while smiling.
“During working hours, yes, I am your boss, and you are my PA. But, after working hours, we are friends, agree?”, he said while holding out his pinky finger to Jessica. “And please call me Sooyoung”, he reminded her.
“Aigoo.. he’s like a kid though. A cute tall kid to be exact”, she thought.
“Arasso”, she replied while entwined her pinky finger with his. The moment their fingers touched, Sooyoung’s smile grew wide as he felt something inside his stomach.
“Is it only me who felt like this, or is this the feeling of love at the first sight?”, he thought. Apart from looking so messy at the moment, he found that the older girl looks beautiful when she took off her glasses. But then, he shrugged off the thought as the elevator finally stopped at their office level.
“Sica, you wait here for a while. I’m going to my room to get the car keys”, Sooyoung said as he rushed to his office room.
“Dae”, she replied as she walked towards her desk, and took her handbag from the drawer. She took a chance to clean up her dirty glasses while she fell at the cafeteria just now with tissue paper.
“Yes, Taeng. Just proceed with your lunch, okay? I need to send Jessica home. She needs to change her clothes. Yeah. I’ll see you later. Bye!”, Sooyoung said as he was talking through his phone with Taeyeon while walking out of the room. “Alright, let’s go now”, Sooyoung said as he walked towards the office main door, followed by Jessica from behind.
At Jessica's penthouse building
“Please come inside, Sooyoung, she said as she hold the doorknob to let Sooyoung walked inside her penthouse. His mouth agape as he was in amazed the moment he entered inside the penthouse.
“Wow! This is your house?”, he asked while his eyes wandering around the living room.
“Yup. It belongs to my parents actually. Basically it’s our family’s lodge. We will stay here when my family went back to have our vacation, or to visit our relatives. But, at the moment, I stayed with my best friend Tiffany, Taeyeon’s girlfriend”, Jessica replied.
“I see”, Sooyoung nodded understandingly.
“Please have a seat first”, she said as she invited him to sit on the couch.
“Thanks, Sica”, Sooyoung replied as he sat on the couch.
“You’re welcome. I need to go upstairs to take a quick shower and change my clothes”, Jessica said.
“Arasso. Go ahead. I will wait here”, he said. With that, Jessica rushed to the upstairs, leaving her boss alone in the living room. His eyes then glued to a bunch of framed photos which have been placed on the small cabinet at the corner of the penthouse.
“That must be her family photo”, Sooyoung mumbled as he stood up, and walked towards the corner. He looked at the photo one by one.
“This must be her sibling. She got her look from her father. Jessica is exactly like her mother’s photocopy.. hehehe..”, he mumbled to himself while giggled softly. His eyes then glued to the several photos of young Jessica posed with a long dress and crown with some foreigners around her. He couldn’t believe in his eyes when he looked at those photos.
“Did she used to win a beauty pageant back then?”, he wondered. “But, why she wore those attire which makes her looked like ahjumma?”, he mumbled.
“That’s a long story, Sooyoung”, he suddenly heard a voice causing him jumped in surprise.
“Y-yah! Aishh! Why did you do that?”, he exclaimed while rubbed his chest to calm him down. He suddenly gasped while staring at the latter. Jessica wasn’t like what he saw earlier. She looked more beautiful than before, with a sleeveless cream colored short dress and light brown colored jacket hanging in her arm. Her wavy hairstyle makes her looks so gorgeous. But, what makes her suddenly changed her look and attire?
[Flashback]
Earlier in Jessica’s bedroom
“I know she made me tripped at the cafeteria just now. I will teach you a lesson today, Naeun. Be prepared. Ice princess Jessica Jung Sooyeon is coming!”, she said while checking herself in front of the mirror.
“Lipstick, check!”
“Hairstyle, check!”
“Dress, check!”
“Perfume, check!”
“I’m going to make your so called “boyfriend” mine. You’ll see, freak!”, she mumbled while smiled in satisfaction over her look right now. She then confidently walked out of her bedroom, to get her man.
[End of the flashback]
“Sooyoung!”
“Sooyoung!”
“Choi Sooyoung!”, Jessica exclaimed, causing Sooyoung shook his head from dazed.
“J-Jessica? Is.. is that you?”, he said.
“Of course it’s me, who else? Wae? she asked while furrowed her brows.
“Y-you look different”, he said.
“Am I?”, she pretended to ask as she secretly smiled to herself.
“Yes! You’re going to fall for my charm, Choi Sooyoung”, she thought. Sooyoung then slowly walked closer to her.
“Sica?”, he called her.
“Yes?”, Jessica replied. She couldn’t help but to feel her heart pounding the moment Sooyoung was so close to her.
“C-can I hug you?”, he suddenly asked, causing Jessica to widen her eyes in surprise.
“Mworago?”, she exclaimed.
“I-I said, can I hug you?”, he repeated his words.
“I.. I.. ermm..”, Jessica was contemplating whether to allow him to hug her or not. The memory of being hugged by the ert old man on her first job interview came into her mind again. While she was lost in her own thought, she suddenly felt Sooyoung pulled her into his embrace and hugged her. She froze, and just stood still.
“I… I think I fall in love with you, Sica”, he whispered, causing Jessica to feel goosebumps. She could feel that Sooyoung’s heart beating fast, just like hers.
“W-what are you talking about, Sooyoung?”, Jessica stuttered, causing Sooyoung to pull off the hug. He then held Jessica’s shoulders while staring into her eyes.
“No one ever makes me feel like this, Sica. I mean, I have met with many girls in my life so far, but they came to me because of my looks and wealth, not because they truly and sincerely accepted me as for who I am. Yesterday when I met you, I could feel that you’re different from them, Sica”, he said with his eyes never left staring into her eyes. Jessica was speechless for a second, but then she started to speak again.
“Sooyoung, are you saying this just because I changed my appearance into like this? What if I still wear the same attire like what you saw on yesterday? Will you still accept me?”, she asked rather serious. Sooyoung just chuckled.
“I really don’t mind at all. At least no one will show their interest in you except me. Less competitors, you know”, he replied with a grin.
“Yah, Choi Sooyoung! Are you trying to say that I’m ugly?”, she snapped, causing Sooyoung laughed.
“Aigoo.. please don’t jump into conclusion before you hear my explanation, Jessica ssi. What I mean is that, I like you just the way you are, no need to change yourself just because of what other people say or think of you. Understand?”, he said.
“Chincha?”, she asked as she smiled sheepishly. Sooyoung just rolled his eyes and pulled her closer into his embrace again.
“Just believe me when I say, okay? You’re beautiful just the way you are”, he said. Jessica couldn’t help but melting into his embrace, and smiling widely. Her mission to make Sooyoung hers has been accomplished. They stayed into each other’s embrace like for a while until Sooyoung’s stomach suddenly growled, causing Jessica laughed. Sooyoung pulled off the hug and patted his stomach.
“Let’s grab some lunch before my stomach started to play orchestra again”, he said. He grabbed Jessica’s hand, and entwined their hands together. Jessica couldn't utter a single word as she still felt in dazed will all those loving gestures Sooyoung has done to her. It’s like another new chapter created in her life today after the cafeteria incident earlier. They then left Jessica’s penthouse to grab their lunch at the nearby restaurant.
At CEO’s office
“I will see you after work, okay? Maybe we can ask Taeng to bring Tiffany to join our dinner tonight”, Sooyoung said to Jessica right after they entered the office. They just came back from having their lunch, and their hands still entwined together, causing all staffs, including Naeun dumbfounded while looking at them, especially Jessica. They couldn't believe their eyes that Jessica has changed into 360 degrees.
“Come into my office first. I want to give you something”, Sooyoung leaned closer and whispered to Jessica lovingly.
“Okay, Soo baby”, Jessica purposely replied loudly, causing Sooyoung blushed with the new nickname he got from her. She managed to glance at Naeun, and the latter could see Naeun’s face was reddened in anger, and her hands formed into fists while looking at them.
“Loser oetori sen cheokhaneun geopjaengi (Loser, loner. A coward who pretends to be tough)”, she sang inside her mind with a grin while entered Sooyoung’s office.
