New Features for Coauthors
Just released two new features for coauthors that have been on my to-do list for a long while now: 1) co-authors can now see the total number of subscribers they have as a co-author (under "Coauthor subs" in your profile) and 2) coauthors now get a notification of who subscribes to each of their co-authored stories in their event histories under the globe notification icon (or below the nav in the Opera Mini theme).
A couple of caveats though. First, the number of subscribers is the total number of subscribers to all of your co-authored stories - not unique subscribers like your "Unique subs" field. So a subscriber who is subbed to both your co-authored story 1 and your co-authored story 2 counts as two subscribers. Getting the total number of unique subs as a coauthor is not possible at the moment. (A bit off-topic, but for stories where you are the main author, are you guys more interested in knowing your total number of subscribers across all of your stories or is the current "Unique subs" metric what you'd prefer to see?)
The second caveat is that the notification you get for new subs to your co-authored story is an "event" that goes under "Event History" in the globe notifications list and not under "Alerts". What this means is that this notification is not permanent. Since the event history list is currently restricted to 20 items long (40 for gold members) and is used by other notifications, it's possible to miss a subscriber notification if you didn't happen to see it before it got replaced by a different notification after exceeding the event history limit. This is different from "Alerts" where alerts stay until you click on them. It's currently not possible to set new co-author subs as an alert but you at least get an event notification now that we have the new event history feature (which is why it took so long for this to happen).
Hope this helps all of you co-authors out there. Happy end of Monday!
