FAQ

1. Why won't you accept my friend request?

After suffering through a highly irritating case of plagiarism, the majority of my fics have been placed under friends-lock and/or invitation-only status. If you’re thinking of sending me a friend request, I’ll say right now that I do not accept friend requests from people with whom I have no interaction.

I am very serious at this point about screening people, and if I don't think we’ve ever interacted in any way, I apologize, but I'm not going to accept your friend request.

2. What counts as interaction?

Wall posts, story comments, and blog comments are all fine, and for people who are a bit shyer, PMs are also okay. I don't maintain any other social media, but you can also reach me at my ask.fm. Really, I'd just like to communicate with you in some way. I try to be friendly! I'm happy to talk to you, and will gladly consider your friend request if I feel we’ve built up a rapport.

3. Someone recommended your fics to me. Will you accept my friend request?

If I was recommended to you by someone, I’d love to know who they are. Chances are they’re on AFF, so it’d be great if you could let me know their username. I’ve carefully cultivated my friends’ list, so if we have a mutual friend, that would be nice to know. However, that does not mean I will automatically accept your friend request, just that we've started building some rapport.

4. How do I get an invitation to read one of your fics?

You can go ahead and ask me. ☺ However, just like friend requests, if we haven't interacted much, I'll have to refuse.

5. I'd really like to read your friends-locked/invitation-only fics. What should I do?

Well, thank you, that's very kind of you to take an interest in my work. However, if you've never read anything by me before, you might want to try checking out my open fics first. I write a very particular niche. I do fluff, sometimes, but for the most part, I write in my niche. It can be dark and I put trigger warnings up for a reason. I've also had, as I mentioned, trouble in the past with plagiarists and people taking advantage of my work. That's why I have fics that are open for anyone to read, fics that are open to my friends, and finally, those that are by invitation-only for people who have an actual, solid interest in reading them.

6. It looks like I'm no longer on your friends' list. What happened?

I do random friends’ list purges from time to time, where I delete people with whom I have little to no interaction. If you're only subscribed to me as an author, and not to any of my individual fics, and you’ve never commented on any of them or any of my blog posts, and have not contacted me in any other way, it will seem to me as though we have no interaction, and you will be deleted.

I also delete people who have not been in contact with me for an extended period of time, or who have been rude or disrespectful to me or of my time, or to someone else that I am aware of.

7. All of this seems unreasonable and way too much effort to read a couple of fics. Aren't you acting rude and entitled?

You're right, and yes, probably definitely. Have a nice day.

About Me

You know what's really weird? I love writing fiction, and tend to be rather verbose, but when it comes to filling out these profile things, I'm always stumped as to what to say. I think I'll just go with a list.

1. My favorite Kpop groups are Infinite and MBLAQ (the original line-up!), in that order. I will, however, listen to just about anything if I find it catchy enough.

2. My Infinite bias list: Sunggyu, Myungsoo, Hoya, Woohyun, the rest. (Note: Sunggyu was not always first place; he wasn't even in the top 3 initially, but somehow, that befuddled hamster just stole into my heart, and one day, boom! Completely in love with him).

3. No, but seriously, Sunggyu. I love that hamster salamander kid. Even if I do tend to quite a bit, but it's because I like a little loser in my man.

4. I'm crazy about Kdramas and cheesy romance novels (you know, the kinds with titles like The Billionaire's Blushing Housekeeper Mistress). Can't get enough of corny romantic plots.

5. That being said, I find myself drawn to the darker side of love A LOT. One of my favorite novels of all time is Kitty Thomas's Comfort Food. It's just so...wow. I can't even explain its effect on me and my writing. Can you even call a story about a sadistic kidnapper who brainwashes a woman a love story? I like questions like that.

6. I'm a bit crazy about research. If I'm uncertain about something while I'm writing (for instance, the time that subway trains stop running in Seoul), I will stop everything and try to find the answer. If I don't find it, it will keep on bugging me until I do or force me to change my plot point. It's really strange to me sometimes that I'm writing about a language I don't speak, a culture I'm not part of, and a country I've never been to, but that's the beauty of fiction, isn't it?

7. I feel I'm doing my job if my stories elicit some sort of emotional response from the reader (and myself!).

8. Confession: I honestly blush at times when I'm writing M-rated scenes!

9. Sometimes, I feel sooooooo gross ing on MBLAQ and Infinite, since I'm significantly older than all of them. Although, thank goodness, at least Seungho and Sunggyu were born in the same decade as me (Sunggyu right at the tail end of it, but hey, that's something!)

10. Comments are my crack. Not even kidding. I love hearing what people have to say about my stuff, even if they hate it.

Feel free to leave me questions if you have them!
