EXO Sasaeng & Radical Fans
I know there have been so so many posts and blogs and even newspaper articles about the ridiculous number of sasaengs following EXO around all the time and invading their privacy.
But this is really a serious issue, and I'm not here to simply vent my anger and tell sasaengs to die.
The fancam of Luhan showing his phone to nearby fans while a sasaeng's call came in spread like rapid fire during the last 12 hours.
His casual attitude, and Jongdae's worried yet helpless expression after Luhan shows him his phone is absolutely heartbreaking - because how many phonecalls like those do they receive on a daily basis for them to be so nonchalant about it? How desperate must Luhan be, to be showing his phone to bystanders asking for them to raise awareness on this subjects?
I've never been one to openly display my anger at a particular issue, and I believe telling people that they "need to die" or "get a life" is neither helpful nor humane.
These days, with the blocking of illegal fancams and unauthorized videos/audio being posted on major fansites, the situation seems to be getting slightly better at least on the internet. But the real danger is directed at the celebrities - they are in a position of light and publicity, whereas these stalkers are in the dark.
So I'd really like to ask every one who happens to come across this blog - or the video I have linked of Luhan above; to simply start making a difference in every way that you can.
Personally I am an international fan who probably has a chance to see EXO once every decade or so, but I'm certain most of the fans that go to greet them at the airport and go to their concerts know at least what it's like every time radical fans get too crazy.
I'm not asking you to wave your fists and physically hurt these extreme 'fans', because obviously you'll get hurt in the process and that is definitely not what any one wants. All I'm saying is - stop being a bystander. If you see a sasaeng harrassing the boys in public, or following them somewhere which they are not meant to be following them to (ie. hotel, bathroom, backstage), then please just take the initiative to report them. Remember their faces and body shapes, and describe these people to the security guards to the best of your ability.
Sadly, sasaengs will never disappear. There will always be the few rotten apples in a basket of fruits.
But at least make sure that these rotten fruits are not spreading their bacteria onto others - take them out of the picture and stop their pollution as soon as you see it. Ignoring the unpleasant is very comfortable; but it is not wise and is unproductive.
