My Favorite MVs of 2015

Hello babies!

I doubt anyone is interested, but I like this kind of stuff, so Im going to list my favorite MVs of 2015!

In no way am I claiming these are the best ones (*favorite* is the key word), and of course there are a lot of MVs that I didn‘t even see (like e.g. Big Bangs and most of the girl group videos). Also, Im biased towards my bias-groups, and I‘m not going to pretend otherwise. But its not like my biases come out of nowhere, they are my favorite groups because they usually come with songs and MVs I like. I should also mention that I’m not that into songs that are heavy on hiphop/rap.

I‘m a simple girl when it comes to MVs.

I just watch them for the dancing, and I need to like the song, otherwise I can‘t be bothered with them. Good looking guys are a bonus of course (Im only human), but when there is no dancing I rarely watch them more than 1-2 times.

(The only exception is when Chansung is being really really beautiful).

I’m sure there are a lot of GREAT MVs with moving storylines and/or rap-based songs, but they are not necessarily my cup of tea, so they won’t appear in this list.

The year 2014 was probably my least favorite year since I started in K-pop in 2010, but for me 2015 was a lot better. There were a lot of fun MVs, and Im not going to name all of them (though Im probably going to name too many), so feel free to share with me what were your favorites whether they are on the list or not!

Im only going to choose from the Korean ones (not the Japanese or Chinese), and Im going to list them (roughly) in the order of the bands I like the most, but the rank of the MVs themselves might be different.

So lets go!

Warning: Extreme fangirling ahead! Continue at your own risk.

2PM – My House

I guess this is the obvious choice. Everything about this MV is just really well done, and in the rank of 2PM Korean MVs, for me, this is somewhere in the middle.

I love the color theme, and the girl is great. I‘m guessing she was casted for being pretty (which she is), but her acting is also really good... At least she had me convinced that she wanted them all... But maybe it‘s just easy to convince me of that lol. And the guys look great of course and Wooyoung finally has normal hair! Yay!

Favorite part of song: Minjun‘s part at 2:49

Favorite part of MV: When Chansung throws away the apple like it somehow makes him cool.

TVXQ Yunho – Champagne

Although Ive kept it relatively quiet here on AFF, Yunho is my biggest K-pop bias outside of 2PM, and O.M.G. I NEVER thought I would get a solo MV with him. So Im Happy!

Not only with him, but like dozen different versions of him, lol.

Well, honestly, if you don‘t like Yunho, I don‘t think this MV is going to change your mind, and youll probably just find him dozen times more annoying. But if you love him, this is PRICELESS. Yunho is not exactly the best actor K-pop has ever seen, which makes this Hilarious!

Also, the choreography honestly isnt anything special, but this mans sense of rhythm is no joke, so he‘s always SO on point, and always slightly better than anyone else, which gives me such a kick.

(I like good dancers)

Favorite part of song: When he sings super softly “Majuchin du nuni aseulaseul”  at 1:06, I DIE.

Favorite part of MV: In the elevator at 2:15, when everyone starts to dance normally like humans, and then a few fractions later Yunho starts super sharply, at Exactly the right moment, and it’s just wow.. I love his sense of rhythm lol. And also, every time he moves, and when you can see his neck.

TVXQ/JYJ Junsu – OeO

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this song. So much it’s not even funny. And this is EXACTLY the way I want my MVs, with a great song and great dancers and choreography. Though Junsu is probably only my 4. or 5. favorite singer in TVXQ/JYJ, I do think he’s definitely one of the best singer K-pop has ever seen, and also one of the best dancers. And when it comes to singing and dancing at the same time, nobody touches him. The man is a machine, it’s surreal, and one of the greatest talents K-pop has ever seen.

And I LOVE this MV so much it’s not even funny! It’s perfection and I couldn’t ask for more. The only thing I don’t like is the rap-part, it just brings the song down, so I always just skip it when watching the MV, and I have it cut out of my mp3 file. Also, I’m very very happy that Junsu put on a little weight since last MV… The healthy-look is seriously underrated in K-pop.

Favorite part of song: Every second Junsu is singing.

Favorite part of MV: The beginning… when you’re like… OMG OMG it’s starting!!! And then it starts and you’re like Yay!!! And then it’s over before you know it. But then you can always start again.

SHINee – View

This is my favorite SHINee (Korean) MV since I became a Shawol (spring 2011) and probably my second favorite over all, after Lucifer. It’s just perfect. The song is just soooo great, and I love that it’s a bit different from what anyone else was doing at the time. I think SHINee is really great at trying new things, new types of music, but still making them sound really “SHINee”, if that makes sense.

And the MV is fantastic, love the dance and the relaxed atmosphere. Often, SHINee have a bit… unique sense of fashion, but here the clothes are completely casual, and all of them look amazing.

(Though I'm glad that Onew has again put on a bit of weight since then.)

(and I’m Loving Minho’s new arms btw)

Favorite part of song: I guess the overall upbeat but relaxed atmosphere.

Favorite part of the MV: At 1:15 when you can see Onew’s face up close. What can I say, the man is just really really really beautiful.

Wonder Girls Ye Eun – Teaser

I know it’s not a proper MV, but it’s so amazing and I love it so much so I had to include it.

Seriously, it’s just insane how perfect this woman is.

Favorite part of Song: All of it, I wish they made a real song from it.

Favorite part of MV: Just the simple visual of her alone by the piano is perfect.

MissA – Only You

When it comes to MissA’s choreographies, my standards are high. So when I saw this MV, honestly I didn’t like it so much, because the choreography is a bit cutsie and simple and they can do so much more. But still, the song is sneakily catchy, so I found myself repeating the MV, and the more I watched it, the more I liked it.

It’s just that they are such great dancers, that even when they are not dancing, it feels like they are, and they can basically make everything work. And the more I watched it, I also started to like the choreography.

Favorite part of Song: The “Baby... baby… baby…” part

Favorite part of MV: For some reason I really like it when Fei throws the jacket to the floor. Also when they are dancing, especially in the blue outfit, because they are so sharp and on point, and I like the contrast of their sharp movements to the cutsie choreography

EXO – Call me Baby

This might be the MV that influenced my K-pop year the most. Although I’ve been a casual EXO fan since debut, and liked a lot of their songs, I never fell completely for them. Face-wise they are not necessarily my typical types (because I tend to fall for single-eyelided guys), and in the beginning they were really young. Then they joined M and K, and I usually shy away from bands with more than 7 members, because my biases are not necessarily always the most popular in the group *coughs-Chansung-coughs* and it’s too frustrating to stan guys that never get any air time.

But yeah, basically, I thought Kai was my bias (because I think he’s the best dancer), and I was just waiting him to kick in and turn hot. (Because in the beginning he was really young, and although cute, as a rule I prefer a little more man in my men.) Then out of nowhere, Sehun turns up completely SMOKIN hot with perfect shoulders and ridiculously flawless posture, so I fall completely lol

(Though in hindsight, maybe my eyes kept finding him a bit in their previous MVs).

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE his dancing. I’ve never seen anyone dance like that, sharp like a knife, delicate like a princess… So I just can't get enough of him dancing. But even though I chose a fairly mainstream bias in this group, he gets on average 3 words per song, so the stanning-struggle is real.

But in general, I think it’s just a really well made MV, the choreography is GREAT (and suits Sehun really well lol, because unlike Kai, he’s not necessarily suited for everything, though he does most things well). And they handle it really well having so many members, so everyone gets a decent amount of airtime, which is not easy with 10 members. So even though I don’t think it’s the best EXO MV (probably not even the second best), it’s my favorite.

So thanks to this MV (and a few songs of their album), EXO rose from being approximately my 22th favorite K-pop group to being a solid member on my top10, which is well done, because I’m a conservative girl and difficult to impress.

Favorite part of Song: I’m not sure, I just like the overall feel of the song. Especially since there has been a really strong rap/hiphop-vibe in K-pop lately, and I Love that this is just almost purely pop, without any 70s or 80s vibe.

Favorite part of MV: Sehun.

Teen Top – Ah-Ah

I’ve been a casual+ fan of Teen Top ever since No more perfume on you, and I guess they rank in my top15 of K-pop groups. I don’t really have a bias though, but I like them all, and often like their songs.

And this MV is sort of my ideal K-pop music video. As in, if I would make a checklist of what I like in my average MV, this one would check all the boxes. The song is just the way I like them, poppy, upbeat but relaxed, and the colors are bright and cheerful, and there is great dancing, and all of them look happy and there are no major fashion disasters. So yeah, just the way I like my MVs :)

Favorite part of Song: The soft part from approximately 2:32-2:46

Favorite part of MV: The happy colors and that they really put everything into their dancing.

Boyfriend – Bounce

Honestly, I’m not completely sure I like this MV, but I keep watching it, so I guess I must.

I don’t really like the colors, or the theme, and I don’t like the beginning of it.

But I like the song, and I love to watch them dance.

A big part of the reason why I watch it a lot, is probably because they have Onew-lookalike… And this type of look… I just.. cannot resist.

I’ve been a casual+ fan of Boyfriend since debut, and have two biases, the Onew-lookalike (because he’s an Onew-lookalike) and then their rapper because he’s looks like SuJu Eunhyuk’s cute younger brother, and he’s good at dancing.

Favorite part of Song: I donno… I just like their voices.

Favorite part of MV: The choreography, and Jeongmin’s face.

History – Might Just Die ()

How this MV is not a K-pop classic is beyond me. It’s f*king fantastic.

The song, choreography, everything is just Great. History often have good MVs but this is my favorite.

There is a lot of visual goodies… neck-p0rn, jawline-p0rn, and then of course a lot of abs, hip-shaking and ground-humping. So yeah. LOVE this MV.

Favorite part of Song: I LOVE the chorus, and the fact that it’s called “Might Just Die”, and the chorus is sung like they are drowning, or completely out of breath. I just think that’s so friggin awesome.

Favorite part of MV: The choreography is all kinds of amazing. And I especially love the fact that they have 3 tall guys and 2 short, and they let the short guys mirror each other in the lineup whenever possible. It’s something 2PM also do a lot (with Chansung and Taecyeon)… and it just matter. When you think about details like this, the overall picture becomes so much greater. And yeah, the guys dance fantastically. The dancing is just Too. F-in. Great.

UP10TION – So Dangerous

This is without any doubt my favorite debut of the year, and I don’t think I’ve liked a debut this much since BAP’s Warrior. Honestly I don’t really fall for debuts that much, because I’m old and bitter, and hard to please, so I usually start liking bands gradually. I’m also biased against groups with many members. But this MV swept me Completely of my feet, and it’s so perfect that it should be illegal.

This is probably my favorite choreography of the year, and there are so many voices that I like already. I don’t really have a bias yet, I think I’ll wait until they are a bit older before I can choose, but I like all of them, and I have so many candidates for a bias.

Favorite part of Song: All the parts that Baekhyun’s look-alike/sound-alike/Birthday-brother sings.

Favorite part of MV: That move where they touch the ground. I love that move so much it’s sick. And the shirt pulling move, that’s going to be even greater as they get older, and the overall choreography is PERFECTION.

Bonus MV - M-Crown – Amazing Girl

Above I’ve listed all my favorite MVs of 2015, but there are also many many others I like a lot. Most of them are with established groups (such as GOT7 and VIXX), so I figure most of you have seen them already.

But I want to make one final shout-out to this MV that just always makes me happy.

The song is mediocre at best, but they have a lot of voices that I LOVE and their dancing is so fun :)

And that guy with the orange-yellow hair is so cute I CANNOT… I simply CANNOT handle it!

Favorite part of song: The parts that the two guys in the red jackets sing.

Favorite part of MV: When the orange-yellow haired guys works his small eyes by making them even smaller than they are naturally, and I’m always like: “Dude you don’t need to do that, they are already small enough,” while giggling like a high school girl, because it totally works.
