Chapter 6
The nurse awkwardly shifted her footing. "As of today, February 23rd 2013, subjects B13, C55, E11, M55, R34, T33 are the only current survivors out of fifteen. Subjects A01, P56, Q23, Q24 and Z36 failed the first trial. Subjects A02, K67, M12 and W12 failed the second trial."
"Has official testing begun?" he asked in a casual tone, not looking up from his papers.
The nurse was hesitant in answering. Even though she worked at the facility for a mere three years (evidently that was longer than most of the other nurses - there was an incredibly high turnover rate), she was still never used to the use of the words 'official' and 'unofficial' regarding what happens in this specific facility. There were numerous rumors floating amongst the nurses, if what they were doing was legal, if they were working for the government, if they were working for a private sector, even if they were working for terrorists. Subin easily came to the conclusion that they were purposely kept in the dark about the real going on's of the facility for reasons unknown, and if she valued her life she should keep it that way. "Today marks the beginning of the official tests."
For the first time during their conversation the doctor looked up, their eyes clashing. Nurse Subin felt cold rush down her spine at the mans empowered gaze.
"Who is the first subject today?"
She gulped. "Subject M55."
The second Sooyeon's eyes opened she first wondered what time it was, and how she couldn't wait to tell her dad about the strange dream she had.
It was when her eyes adjusted to the poor lighting however that her memories came flooding back.
First she felt fear, but that was quickly flooded by confusion and pure denial.
Maybe her memories aren't correct, there was no way her dad would have done something like that to her. It's not his fault that she is where she is. It's not his fault that she was injected with a questionable serum. It's not his fault that she was currently in a dogs cage. It can't be his fault.
She balled her small hand into a tight fist against the cold floor. She just felt stupid. She clearly just followed a man claiming to be her father to her possible doom. After all, nothing good comes out of being caged.
Sooyeon froze, in fear or anticipation?, once she heard footsteps make their way down the room, how big even was this room?. The more seconds that passed the louder the f
February 23rd, 2013
"It's been a week, how is the latest batch doing?" the head doctor of a questionable medical facility, Son Jinho, questioned the nervous nurse, Kim Subin, standing in front of him. The man was currently shuffling through various papers scattered around his cluttered, metal desk.
