Chapter 3
Said young man was currently chewing on a straw, seemingly unfazed by the snow cascading around him. His worn green duffel bag hit the back of his leg with every footstep.
Grrr
He stopped.
The boy patted his growling stomach without a word. Digging into his back pocket he pulled out a simple brown pleather wallet, he frowned when he noticed he only had five thousand won on him. "Can't do much with that..." he mumbled.
He continued on his journey, now having an actual destination in mind. A food stand.
His thoughts wandered without his consent, filling with thoughts and questions regarding his unset destination. Against his inner will there was a tiny voice nagging him in the back of his head, warning him about his spontaneous actions and just how far that will get him.
He physically shook his head.
Leaning back, his eyes focused on the glittering stars above. Just looking at the floating lights seemed to ease his frazzled mind. Just like magic his mind cleared, flooding with comforting black.
His nose led him, miraculously with his sense of direction, to a dukkbokki stand.
The young man's eyes roved over the stand, only one other customer was there at this early hour. Looking around he noticed there was, strangely, barely anyone on the street.
He mentally shrugged, turning back towards the stand.
"What can I get 'ya?" the old woman behind the stove asked him without looking up from what she was doing.
"One order of dukkbokki and a fish cake."
The woman merely grunted in response.
"It's a little late for someone of your age to be out and about, isn't it?"
The boy turned to the only other customer at the stand, she was a tall, thin woman dressed in all black. The fact she was in thin black clothing wasn't what stood out, but the woman's bright red eyes. He sent her a bored look, "Guess so."
