Momma Told Me

The Cliff Anonymous (An Author's Mean Confession)

Momma Told Me

You know how authors, especially the popular and "well-writing" ones consider how they have high standards in reading fiction (just because they create stories that get tons of votes because of their fanbase. Like, witch please. You ain't that good. And if you think you create popular stories because you have high standards, then you're stupid).

They say they like well-planned plots, good grammar, non-Mary-Sue and realistic characters.

What I'll talk about right now is a certain type of character.

This is the character that this one author likes to be realistic as much as possible so she makes it a lead in her stories so readers can relate.

This is the character that readers love reading.

So this author says she likes creating realistic settings and characters. So this female lead character that she made is so morally chaste and soft-spoken. Possibly never been in love. But for some reason, she is so stupid that she does something that causes her to be surrounded by hot, bad guys, and her life gets messy. She has vulnerabilities. She cries. She's like a damsel in distress that the male lead/s has/have to watch.

Me: oh, this nice. She sounds like a pretty good girl.

*Reading.....reading.....*

She gets pregnant with the male lead's baby.

Me: What the fudge..........

Well I guess Ms. Good Girl ain't no good girl at all.....

She's secretly a hoe.

And you wonder why stories like this get tons of vote: Everything went bananas but it's a happy ending. The girl gets some lovin in the bed with the lead. She gets pregnant.

Well of course it will get more votes. Readers like their bias' cell to infiltrate their egg cell. It's like a dream come true for them in the form of a fanfic.

If she's so morally chaste, why did she get pregnant easily? She hasn't even known the guy longer than a year.

So much for realistic characters.

This is the reason momma told me that calm, reserved girls get pregnant first.

is inside.

Nasty hoe.

Chapter 8: hey! i know it's a bit late since i've already begun writing it, but i was wondering if i could use this story (but specifically this chapter) as inspiration for a short poem i'm writing? it would mean a lot to me, and i won't post it until i get your permission.
thank you in advance!

Chapter 18: thank you for writing this, do you have any medicine to heal the hurt everytime reader unsubscribe? I'm new writer, I feel like trash sometimes, the only things that keep me writing is the new subscribers and readers comments and upvote, how i wish that i don't know who unsubscribe, but sometimes i know.....I guess One man's trash is another man's treasure :(

Chapter 6: I partially agree with this. Yes, advertising gets you some time at the spotlight and more people will have a chance to see and read your story and along with that - subscribe...

But advertising doesn't automatically mean 1000+ subscribers and a gold star.

Chapter 13: oh my god, I'm starting to like this 'rant fanfic/blog' thingy. I practically ing some of authors and readers shamelessly bcus of the same reasons.

I actually think fanfic also supposed to "it's not about being read. It's about being written" thingy. I mean I write stories in my blog without promoting it, only some of my friends who really want to read it. There's no comments or anything, no pressure at all. Because my aim to write is not for anyone, is just myself. Sometimes it's just phathetic for some of authors who go to far with their storyline, changing OC characters or storyline for entertaining some of naggy readers.

Chapter 9: oh my god this reminds me of authors who try so hard not to make their character a mary sue it goes full circle and becomes a mary sue, but it's actually worse because the oc's so "depressed" and "misunderstood" and fights a lot but only to protect her little sister like jesus i'd just rather have a regular mary sue

Chapter 10: Ok. Hahaha. I was determined to read all rants before commenting, but man Im itching to voice out this rant too. There's this author who isnt featured but had hosted a contest in which she garnered huge subscription base. And man, she really thought she's sooo popular that she posted a name for her "fan" base. And I was like, witch please. You have many subs coz theyre interested in the contest. Oof! It's good to ventilate. haha.
