The silence that surrounds the night is deafening. The only sound she hears are her own heartbeat, fast and off the pace as blood flows through her body in strong waves and current. She is excited: this is an understatement. She is afraid, scared, unsure: this is an understatement as well. 

She's in front of the door, waiting for a knock. When it comes, she's startled so she jumps back a little. It's that special knock she's been waiting for. Two down low, one in the middle. tock tock tack.

He's already smiling when she opens the door. He's smiling right at her, it's a smile with a secret that only the two of them would know. He has his satchel slung over one of his shoulders. Like her.

He opens his mouth, but she doesn't let him say anything. She steps out, he steps back. She closes the door behind her and locks it, sliding the key into the front pocket of her bag. 

"I've never done anything like this before." she's said this to him every day since two weeks ago, when they were planning this night with their heads touching and their shoulders brushing.
