When Taehyung spills his coke all over her uniform, she explodes. When he sincerely apologizes on his knees in front of her and everybody else, she sizzles down. When he brings her home so that his mom can wash her uniform for her, she thinks she's one strange kid.
Sujeong stands in front of a mirror, inspecting the sweater he gave her to wear for the mean time while his mother 'does her thing' (his exact words) on her stained uniform. "You didn't have to do this." she said this twice now to him in the past seven hours. The first time was during lunch, when he bowed down and got on his knees to apologize.
Taehyung shrugs, picking out loose threads from the sweater she's wearing that it his. He didn't tell her this but Sujeong knew it the moment he gave it to her. It had a War Craft logo in front and it smelled just like boy cologne; his cologne.
"I was at fault."
"You already apologized."
"Maybe you'll tell your mom, and then I can't go to your bakery anymore because of this incident. Your mom makes the best lemon squares you know. They're my favorite."
Sujeong already knows this. Taehyung comes to their shop at least once a week, twice on some occasions. Every time he goes, his orders are always constant and the same. Three lemon squares, three brownies and some chocolate bread; in that order. He's been buying the same things ever since they were elementary.
"I won't tattletale." she's already smiling. "And besides, you should've cleaned my uniform yourself, not your mom."
Taehyung just snickers and shakes his head, he says nothing. His family owns a laundry shop and they're standing right in it, Taehyung must not help out on the laundry part often.
When his mother comes minutes later with her uniform, laundered to whiteness, pressed and smelling like daisies on a spring day, she insists Taehyung has to walk Sujeong to the bus stop since the sun has already set. Both teens protest but the decision is final.
Taehyung leans in, his nose against the sleeve of her uniform's blouse. Sujeong swats him away. "Do you like the smell?" he says. "I preferred her rose fabric conditioner but I guess she's all out of it."
"I like the smell." she just says, an eyebrow raised. "It reminds me of spring and sunny days."
They walk side by side, ten inches in between. The space maximizes when the bus comes and Sujeong does not hesitate to clamber in after exchanging more than awkward goodbyes. She sits at the front, away from the window but somehow she still knows Taehyung is watching.
