Chapter 6

Marlboro Reds

KissTheDream: I was painfully bored, so I made a list of My Favourite Songs of 2015. Feel free to check it out if you're equally bored. ^.^

Jin was breathless, standing in the doorway with his red hair soaking wet. Neither knew what to say. Feeling dizzy, Jimin held onto the door frame.

That’s when he remembered. “I didn’t send that message. My drunk friends took my phone.”

Jin blinked water out of his eyes. Even his clothes were wet. It seemed he had forgotten to take an umbrella. “Oh.”

Another silence.

“… Can I come in?”

Jimin opened his mouth, then closed it and opened the door instead.

Suddenly Jimin remembered it all – the rough feeling of Jin’s palms on his cheeks, the dry taste of Marlboro reds on his lips. He wanted to feel that again, right here in the dark doorway, but his legs seemed glued to the floor.

In a heartbeat, Jin disappeared somewhere, probably into a bathroom.

The party was reaching its peak. Most people were in a happy stage of drunkness, some joking around, some making out, some already passed out and getting dragged away by their friends. It was one hell of a party, and got even better when an old summer hit started playing and the entire house sprang to their feet and started to dance.

Jimin finally found Taehyung in the guest room. His belt was undone and there was champagne foam in his hair.

“OH MY GOD JIMIN THIS IS THE BEST PARTY EVER!”

Jimin could only smile weakly. Somehow he couldn’t enjoy it as much as Taehyung did.

In his ecstasy, the orange-haired boy tried to kiss him on the lips. Jimin instantly slapped him away, face all scrunched up.

“Yah, you kissed my feet with that mouth, you disgusting !”

Taehyung only laughed before getting dragged away by two equally happy girls.

Deciding the atmosphere was getting too crazy for his liking, Jimin went out onto the windy terrace to have a smoke. The rain had subsided by now. Occasionally a droplet would drip down from the next-floor balcony.

Jin stood hunched over the metal railing.

“… Hey.” said Jimin eloquently.

Jin turned around, startled. “I borrowed your clothes... I hope you don’t mind.” he said in a hoarse voice. It occurred to Jimin that this was probably the longest sentence he had ever heard the senior say.

“Nah. It’s fine.” Jimin was struggling to play it cool while his intoxicated brain wrestled with fuzzy images flashing through his head. Red leaves, red hair, the red-and-white pack of cigarettes, and a pair of lips. He was not afraid. Rather, he felt strangely disconnected from the world. The sight of the mysterious senior didn’t scare him or fluster him as it normally would. Perhaps it was the alcohol.

Cautiously, he leaned against the railing next to Jin, silently motioning for a cig. Jin passed it to him, and for a while both smoked in silence. The nicotine helped Jimin calm down a little. The wind felt good on his face, flushed from all the drinking. The cigarette smoke twirled prettily in the night.

The dripping water echoed loud as thunder. Jimin started wondering if Jin’s even breathing.

“Your hair’s still wet.”

As if noticing that for the first time, Jin reached up into his dark red hair, combing through the damp strands with one hand. On closer inspection, Jin didn’t look quite right. His face was as white as the borrowed T-shirt he was wearing.

Jimin motioned for another cigarette, not because he really wanted one but because there was nothing else to do.

“It’s the last one.” said Jin, lighting it up for himself.

“… Wanna share?”

They ended up passing it to each other, in silence, both looking somewhere in the distance and careful not to let their fingers touch. But Jimin had only taken his second pull before a big fat drop plopped from the upper balcony and landed right onto the much-treasured cig. The thing was completely wet.

“Ah, goddamit!” muttered Jimin into his chin, tossing the useless object over the railing. “Sorry for-”

He was not prepared at all for the sudden wetness on his lips. It wasn’t another raindrop from above. Almost violently, Jin forced Jimin’s lips apart with his own, as if to in the smoke Jimin had just inhaled. Taken by surprise, Jimin instinctually grabbed onto Jin’s shoulders.

A total blackout overtook his mind. There were no thoughts. He watched Jin kiss him as if watching a movie. He faintly registered Jin’s large, bony hand sliding up his torso, and noticed Jin’s lips were trembling.

He didn’t know how much time had passed before Jin finally pulled away. As if woken up from a trance, Jin blinked, then quickly turned away and buried his hands in his pockets. His lips were glistening wet.

Right at that moment, the door to Jimin’s right rattled and a flurry of orange hair barged through.

“Oh my God, where were you?!”

Jimin was tempted to mention Taehyung was the one who kept getting lost during the party, not him.

“Yah, we were looking all over for you, you know.” muttered Namjoon, stepping onto the balcony too. How exactly the junior was still standing after drinking half of Jimin’s supplies and then passing out, Jimin could only guess. “Most people have gone ho-” Namjoon blinked, suddenly noticing they weren’t alone. “… Who’s he?”

Head hung low, Jin strode past the trio and made for the door, shoving Namjoon aside on his way. Taehyung’s eyes widened in recognition.

“Yah!!! You’re that jerk from before!”

But Jin was already gone with a violent slam! of the door. There was a moment of silence.

“Seriously, who does he think he is?” mumbled Taehyung, looking after the senior begrudgingly. “Bet me and Namjoon could have him down in, like, half a minute.” He suddenly jumped into an improvised fighting stance and began hopping around the terrace like an extra in a kung-fu movie. Water splashed everywhere around him. “HI-YAH!!!”

“Jesus Christ, calm down!” yelled Namjoon at Taehyung, flinching away from the splashing water and wiping off his face with the edge of his sleeve. He looked to Jimin.

“Why do you hang out with this nutjob, really? He’s totally mental!”

Totally mental wasn’t even adequate to describe Kim Taehyung. Jimin only chuckled.

Chapter 9: And isn't this high school? If Jimin was conceived 18 years ago, he's 17 and a sophomore is around 15-16 unless this is in Korean age? And what about his older sister? When was she conceived? I'd have assumed the honeymoon would have her as the result if she's the noona. Also slightly confused about the ending of this chapter. But excited to read the rest.
Obviously this is just my opinion and what I consider as constructive criticism! Because we all need that. Your ideas are good. And your writing just as much. So yeah. You don't have to take this in consideration. It's just my opinion after all. :) (2/2)

Chapter 9: Hello there! :)
Okay so first I like your ideas for this fiction. They are really good.
Second how can Jimin say Namjoon is ugly??;-; that guy is bae. Cuter than anything else in this whole world.
Well I've read your fiction after putting it up for so long because I'm a lazy bum although I really like Jinmin not as much as Nammin tho. We need more fics with those two tbh. But anyway. Not going to lie, I was really disappointed at how short the chapters were. I felt like you could have developed so much more. By trying to give them this feeling of "mystery" you left out so many more things that could have been developed into something else. This fic doesn't seem to be only from Jimin's perspective as we see his parents' too and even the teacher's. I felt like by talking even more in chapter 1 about how Jimin felt with the kiss that was especially in an open space would have been good. How he reacted after the warm feeling stopped. How he hurriedly or maybe even slowly walked out of there. Did he touch his lips unsure if that was really happening? Did he wiped out his lips just because he knew that was how he should react while inside he felt conflicted?
What about Jin? It's nice for him to be all mysterious but somethings about him would have been good too. Not like a pov from him but at least Jimin trying to analyze him by his expression. "Jimin saw the smirk on his face and wondered if he was proud of what he just did. Was it something he had planned?"
But the chapter that felt like it needed more update was chapter 2. I felt like it could have also be combined with chapter 3 because I thought 3 was another day. And also just to show how worried Jimin's mom was it could be something like "she had to take off from work(...)" idk haha.
And chapter 6 and 7 could have been combined too. With just something for example like "however on the other side of the country, everything wasn't so happy" idek but I hope you see what I mean?
