Chapter 6

Awake ~ 1st Arc of Cursed Series~

Chapter 6

Jaejoong was sitting on the bed, next to Junsu, who was laying unconsciously on the bed because of his wound. Changmin was on the other side of the bed as he still healed Junsu. Yoochun and Yunho were sitting across them on the-somehow-still-intact dining chairs. The house was too messed up and the bedroom was the only room civil enough to have discussion, even though the door was smashed into pieces.

After Jaejoong remembered everything he did when the demon took control, they knew they couldn’t hide the truth from Jaejoong anymore. That was why they just finished explaining to Jaejoong what’s happening to him and who they’re exactly. Jaejoong’s next question really passed their expectation.

“Can’t you kill me?” Jaejoong’s questions sent shocked gasp from everyone in the room.

“Jae, didn’t you hear what I said? We will find a way to get the demon king out of you and kill it. I found a clue and we’ll start there,” Yunho said.

“It’s not like we---I didn’t try,” Changmin said in almost a whisper,” But every time I tried to kill hyung, thing messed up. I think the demon king somehow sensed the danger…”

“Are you out of your mind, Changmin ah?” Yoochun finally asked the golden question as the youngest wished he was invincible,” You will become the next demon king if you kill it.”

“What? So you can’t kill the evil me without turning the one who kills the evil me into the new evil one?” Jaejoong couldn’t believe what he’s hearing or even saying. How ed up thing situation could get.

“We tried to kill it together, centuries ago,” Yunho explained,” But it was too strong and we were forced to seal it instead…together with you.”

“In some underground prison, I suppose?” Jaejoong wasn’t surprise when Yunho nodded,” I kind of having a nightmare about it.”

“I’m sorry,” Yoochun said. Jaejoong shook his head softly and told them it was the right thing. He saw how twisted the demon king was. He hated to see the demon king used him to do unspeakable things and he couldn’t do any damn it about it. Sighing, Jaejoong looked at his brother. Junsu was still unconscious but the color of his face was better.

“He’ll be okay, I promise,” Changmin spoke as Jaejoong smiled to him, thanking him for saving his only brother. At least, one thing wasn’t a lie. Junsu was really his younger brother. Then, Jaejoong noticed mixed emotion on Changmin’s eyes and it bothered Jaejoong to no end. Biting his lips, Jaejoong wondered why he felt such thing to Changmin, he didn’t even remember the guy.

“We’ll talk about the clue Yunho found after Junsu wakes up,” Yoochun said,” I’m going to check the perimeter around the house. It better plays safe than sorry.”

“Wait, I’m coming too,” Yunho said as he put his hand on Yoochun’s shoulder. Both of them vanished into thin air. Jaejoong blinked few times even though he knew it was Yunho’s teleport skill. He kind of asked what everyone’s power was because he was curious.

“Hyung, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to hurt you,” Changmin broke the silence as Jaejoong looked at him. He knew the younger one in front of him tried to kill him before and he had no guarantee he wouldn’t do it again in the future. But actually Jaejoong felt relief that someone like Changmin was there. If the worst came, he preferred to be dead than hurting one of them or anyone innocent.

“I was ready to bear the sin of ending the world,” Changmin continued to speak as Jaejoong let him,” I prefer it is me than hyung. Hyung doesn’t deserve any of this and I won’t ever let Jaejoong hyung go through it again like in the past.”

Jaejoong frowned as he looked at Changmin. He couldn’t get it why Changmin cared so much about him. Like he said, he didn’t remember him or Yunho. Yet, both of them would sacrifice themselves to save Jaejoong, he hated himself for not remembering them.

“He’s your half-brother,” Junsu’s voice woke Jaejoong up from his self-hatred.

“What?” Jaejoong thought his ears were playing tricks on him.

“Changmin is our half-younger brother,” Junsu said it again as Jaejoong couldn’t help but to stare at Changmin. Slowly, Junsu woke up and leaned on the bed headboard. Then, Junsu pulled Jaejoong and Changmin into a group hug.

“I miss this,” Junsu smiled.

“Hyung!” Changmin hissed as his cheeks turned a bit red. That was the moment Jaejoong decided that Changmin was actually as cute as Junsu; he just masked it so well. Laughing, Jaejoong couldn’t help but to tightened the hug. He got another younger brother! At least there’s one happy thing.

“I’m sorry I don’t remember you, Changmin ah. I can’t imagine how you feel all this time,” Jaejoong said as they let go of the hug,” I know I can’t remember anything about the past and I don’t know if I ever will. I might even turn evil and end the world next day or week or month, but I promise I’ll treasure every moment we have from now on.”

“You won’t turn,” Junsu said in convincing voice,” I won’t let it take control again. We’ll free you this time, hyung.”

“I won’t give up then,” Jaejoong promised himself,” I’ll end the demon king curse with me and I will fight it until my last breath so I won’t hurt anyone again.”

“Now, that’s the Jaejoong we know,” Yunho’s voice startled Jaejoong as he literally jumped. He glared at Yunho as the man laughed. Somehow it made Jaejoong felt nostalgic, like he knew the laugh and missed it.

“The perimeter is safe,” Yoochun spoke as he appeared behind Yunho,” Junsu ah, how’re you feeling?”

“Like ran over by truck on the chest but I’ll live,” Junsu grinned at Yunho as the other man apologized frantically. Junsu laughed when Yunho kneeled on the floor and Jaejoong was busy getting him up.

“I can’t get up until Junsu forgive me,” Yunho stated like it was the straightest fact on earth,” I’ve violated my vow and hurt a royal family member. Such crime is punished with death.”

“What? I thought we have enough discussion over death!” Jaejoong hissed,” Now get up! Don’t be ridiculous! That’s an order!”

Yunho immediately stood up and Jaejoong frowned. He really couldn’t get what’s on Yunho’s mind. Wait, did Yunho just call Junsu a royal? Did that make him a royal too?

“Yunho’s old habit kicks in, can’t help it,” Yoochun laughed softly,” Jaejoong ah, believe or not, you’re and Junsu have royal blood on your veins. The three of us kind of vowed to be your slave for eternity.”

“Now Yoochun hyung’s old habit kicks in,” Changmin sighed,” Stop confusing Jaejoong hyung. Leave the past on the past.”

“Wait, so the three of you really are my slave?” Jaejoong didn’t know he could feel that surprise after all the things happened. He didn’t like the term of slave; he was afraid he used to be a bad person on his past.

“Yoochun is joking, hyung,” Junsu said,” Half-joking maybe. Anyway, Yunho hyung used to be the military highest command, Yoochun used to be your political advisor and right hand, Changmin used to be the eternity starving kid in our past kingdom.”

“I’m not! I need food for my growth,” Changmin defended himself. What happened next was beyond their expectation. Jaejoong rolled on the floor as he laughed until he cried. He had no idea Junsu could be that cutely evil toward Yunho and Yoochun could be telling jokes. He didn’t know his new younger brother was gluttony and Yunho had this rigid side of him.

“Jae, take a breath, you’ll suffocate laughing like that,” Yoochun frowned. That only made Jaejoong laughed even harder. The rest gave up and waited until Jaejoong stopped rolling on the floor. For the first time ever, Kim Jaejoong felt he was really alive.

“I’m going…to make something…for us to eat,” Jaejoong muttered as he got up; he noticed this bright excited spark on Changmin’s eyes,” Once I finish feed all of you, especially you, Changmin, we’ll have the long discussion how on earth we get this thing out of me and kill it.”

“I’ll help,” Yunho offered but before he could catch up to Jaejoong, Junsu held his hand.

“Did you forget Jaejoong hyung used to get mad at you for messing his cooking? Do you want it to repeat itself again?” Junsu grinned like an innocent child but Jung Yunho knew better. All this years, Kim Junsu never failed to enslave him with small mischievous things.

“I’ll go, I’m the only one civil enough on the kitchen,” Yoochun said as no one debated,” As you can see, once a right hand, I’ll always be Jaejoong’s right hand, even in kitchen.”
