I Wish You A Good Night
Poetry for XiuHanYou lie comfortably,
Dressed for a long rest,
Within a velvet-shelled bed.
People wander by
To croon lullabies
Fitting for a long night.
I like to think that you are in a deep sleep,
A soft smile plastered on your face.
I still see your amber orbs,
Though they are shut tightly,
Dazzling with radiant joy.
I imagine the things you see with your closed eyes;
Hoping it’s about you and me, reliving a happy past,
Like when we went to the fair
And you won a large, stuffed teddy bear.
But whatever it is about which you dream,
It will always be of happy themes.
So I wish you a good night;
May the first thing we see be each other
At dawn’s first light.
