After 2 weeks, Hwayoung was discharged from the hospital. Today, February 7, 2015, it was time to lay Daehyun to rest. He wasn’t able to spend New Years with his family for the very last time and this was the most heartbreaking part for them. Still not being able to walk properly and still having post-traumatic stress disorder, Hwayoung mustered up the courage to see her brother for the very last time even if their reunion was cut short. He was too young to die but maybe there was a reason behind all this.

    “My brother has always been there for me even if I was like Jerry (the mouse) and he was like Tom (the cat). When I was young, he would always chase me around the house. We would love to play Hide-and-Seek. We would love to do anything together. Today, I stand before you, saying a eulogy. I never knew that my brother would go this far to let me survive. The heart within me is not my heart. It’s my brother’s heart. Who knew that he would actually give his heart for me to survive. I did. He would do anything for anyone. But going this far was quite unexpected. I heard that when he decided to be the heart donor, they tried to stop him because they found another donor but they failed. He told me that only God knowns when our time is up. And now, it’s his time to go back to our Creator. This is all in God’s plan and we should trust and have faith in Him. It might be weird that I am saying all these things but it is true. If my brother were here with us physically right now, he would say the same thing. I guess it’s safe to say that I have a Christ-Centeredness brother and a really amazing one. He was my role model. I always looked up to him. He was my strength and he was the one who told me to keep on going no matter how hard the situation is. I will not forget our first and last memories and all the memories we made in between as siblings and as friends. I’m glad that I was able to spend the last few our with my brother. During the procedure, I’m sure that he didn’t let go of my hand as our beds were side by side. For some reason, I can tell because I felt is presence and the grip of his hand though he fell into a deep sleep. Our bond was strong. Stronger than anyone could have imagined. I promise that I will take care of his heart. The heart where all our memories are stored and where his infinite love for his family and I are found.”

    She managed not to break down in the middle of her eulogy but as she ended is, she broke down to her knees and cried even more. Her family helped her up to let her sit down on a chair and started fanning her and making her drink water before she faints in the middle of the funeral. This is the first time that she felt so much pain in her life. Her brother was like the love her life because they grew up together. Only after 10 years, she was able to see her brother again and this unexpected accident happened and separated them.

    Baekhyun, who was sitting at the back along with the other EXO members and Angel’s Kiss’ members, got out of his chair and sat on the empty chair beside Hwayoung and as soon as she saw him, she hugged him and he tried his best to soothe her and comfort her and not make her current condition worse.

    After the funeral, Hwayoung’s parents had to deliver the news to her grandparents so they left once the service ended along with everyone else. She and Baekhyun were the only ones left at the cemetery. 

    “Do you want to leave now? I’m going to have to take care of you while your parents are gone so we’ll have to stay at your dorm.”

    “Just a few more minutes, if you don’t mind?”

    “Of course. Just tell me when you're ready to leave.” Baekhyun then started walking towards Angel's Kiss’ van that was for Hwayoung’s use.

    All she did was continue praying and tried not to break down once more. Her tears probably dried up by now after crying non-stop ever since the day before his funeral service. The trees started swaying and dancing as the winds came as if her brother was talking to her. She looked up to the sky and said her final farewell. She went back to her van where Baekhyun was waiting for her outside and when he spotted her, he greeted her with welcome arms. She snuggled up as Baekhyun protected her with his arms. He soothed her and made her feel protected and comfortable as possible. It was time to say goodbye.

The very next day, the news about Daehyun’s funeral was all over the place — the internet, the radio and on TV. Interviews here and there from fellow celebrities, label mates, close families and friends have been revealed to the public. Though they wanted to keep the funeral as private and solemn as possible, the Kim family only around 3 of the main networks allowed to attend the funeral. There were only a total of 6 reporters who watched at a distance as to not disturb the service but the funeral itself was covered.

Kim Daehyun, brother of Angel’s Kiss’ Kim Hwayoung, has been laid to rest yesterday.
