Between juggling a demanding job and a family, single father Wu Yifan is a very
busy man. After spending his day off taking a sick child to the hospital, Yifan meets Kim Junmyeon, a doctor with a big heart and a warm smile. Yifan doesn't think
much of it until they bump into one another as they drop their kids off for soccer practice a few weeks later. Perhaps they have more in common than Yifan originally thought...
“Daddy has really tiny smiles but he doesn’t show it a lot. He doesn’t laugh a lot either…”
“Why do you think that is?” Doctor Kim asked softly, his brow now creasing as he frowned.
“I dunno. He works a lot and he seems sleepy but he stays up really late. We tell
him to take a nap but he doesn’t do it,” Chanyeol mumbled. He let out an
exaggerated sigh. “I wanna see Daddy smile like you do. Your smile is really big
and pretty.”

Yifan's new neighbor, Junmyeon, doesn't speak the same language as him. Even so, Yifan knows that Junmyeon loves flowers, since Junmyeon is always staring at the garden growing in Yifan's lawn. Yifan really hates flowers, but if it gives him a chance to see Junmyeon, then maybe they aren't that bad.
Junmyeon was staring at him over the fence.
Yifan quirked an eyebrow, confusion scribbled all over his face as he lowered the watering can. Junmyeon could barely see over the white structure, noticeably
straining to stand on his tiptoes, visible to Yifan as he peeped through the gaps in the fence.
Yifan couldn’t take the silence anymore. “What?”
Junmyeon just blinked at him, not seeming to understand. But Yifan had grown accustomed to that; ever since he had first met Junmyeon a couple of days ago, he
had come to realize that there was a rather large language barrier between the two of them. He and Junmyeon had yet to have a conversation because of that.
Junmyeon lifted one tiny, chubby hand and suddenly pointed at the daisies that Yifan was watering. His eyes were bright, a shy smile on his pink lips, and Yifan couldn’t stop his heart from suddenly racing inside of his chest when Junmyeon spoke to him
directly for the first time.
“Pretty.”
Junmyeon was staring at him over the fence.
