Yuri had Taeyeon in her arms comfortably, the smaller woman resting her head against her shoulder as they cuddled and watched TV together like a proper couple would. Taeyeon originally requested to be discharged early but it was turned down because of her broken arm. She wouldn't be able to take care of her injury on her own at home, and Yuri didn't want that either, especially since no one else would be free enough to take care of her while Yuri was at school. So against her own will, Taeyeon was (sort of) forced to stay in the hospital until her arm was fully recovered. 

“Yuri…” Taeyeon rubbed her lover’s arms and nuzzled her face into Yuri’s broad shoulder; she relished the feeling of being so protected all the time. “I think I can be discharged next week; nothing else is wrong with me except my broken arm.”

The tanned girl shook her head stubbornly; she was not going to let Taeyeon leave the hospital just yet. She was already close to finishing her finals so Taeyeon just had to withstand it for a couple more weeks… hopefully. Yuri had been staying true to her word for weeks now; it wouldn't kill to not give in to Taeyeon's constantly cute gestures. In fact, Yuri could bet that whoever was the culprit behind this, he wasn't done with them just yet. The package had a bomb inside, for Christ's sake, it was meant to kill whoever opened it instead of merely injuring the person. 

“Ugh, you’re so stubborn.”

“It’s for your own good,” Yuri pressed her lips on Taeyeon’s forehead as her arms around the smaller woman tightened, “I don’t want you to get hurt again. Please try to understand that...”

Taeyeon immediately felt guilty for saying those words thoughtlessly when she felt how much Yuri was shaking; the tanned woman was still trembling and the worry in her eyes didn’t escape Taeyeon’s sharp instincts. She nuzzled her head in the crook of Yuri’s shoulder and enjoyed the warmth she was receiving from her lover – only Yuri was capable of giving her this security despite her young age. Yuri had proven herself to be a protector, a fighter against people who would dare to threaten their relationship even in the slightest. It had been her time to prove herself worthy, right?

If Yuri could protect her with her life, then why couldn't Taeyeon do the same? Taeyeon had no issue trying to show her partner off but she didn't want it to affect Yuri's education path.  

Yuri yawned and reached over to get some water when she realised the glass was empty; she gently detached herself from Taeyeon’s clutches, giving her a gentle kiss on the head. She didn’t even feel safe leaving Taeyeon here alone but a part of Yuri knew better; the hospital staff had eyes everywhere and Taeyeon was in an Intensive-care unit anyway. She took a deep breath and calmed herself down; this was not the place for her to get all worked up again. Taeyeon had been resting so well the entire day and her worries seemed to have vanished out of the window. 

While her girlfriend was busy catering to her needs, Taeyeon was trying to busy herself with something else. She had been trying to get a hold of her ex-boyfriend because she had a strong feeling it had something to do with him – all to no avail. Taeyeon was not an idiot, and she could bet her entire life that Jeongsu was involved. He had been bothering them for so long and he was the only one who knew where Taeyeon lived, apart from her parents’ address. If he wasn’t the culprit, then he had a part to play either way.

“Taeyeon-ssi?”

“Ye—Halmeoni!” Taeyeon leaped out of bed and tried not to aggravate her injuries, bowing deeply to the elder standing in front of her. She cursed herself for not being observant to her surroundings; she probably would have noticed and been more respectful. “It’s nice to see you, Halmeoni. I’m sorry I can’t be in a better state.”

Grandma Kwon had a look of sympathy written all over her face after scanning the young woman from head to toe; she knew something happened to the couple after the two youngsters came to beg her for help but she didn’t expect it to be so bad. To say that she was willing to help Taeyeon after learning about Yuri's relationship with her was an absolute lie, because she was furious that her granddaughter - a soon-to-be CEO of a company - was dating a woman; and to top it all off, that woman was ten years older than her. She couldn't understand the logic of the relationship here.

The mere fact that Taeyeon could stand up strong and talk to her like this was amazing in itself but Grandma Kwon was more worried about the fact that Yuri was merely playing around with this relationship.

“How are you feeling, Taeyeon-ssi?”

“Well, my arm hurts a little but it’s okay,” Taeyeon said albeit shyly, peeking up at the elder woman behind her lashes, “and please, call me Taeyeon.”

An awkward silence arose in the room in no time at all; the conversation had stopped right there and Taeyeon didn’t know what else could improve at atmosphere. She played with her fingers underneath the covers, hoping her girlfriend would come back in less than five minutes or the tension would enough to kill. Taeyeon was an awkward person, no doubt but this had gone way beyond her imagination. She could tell that this elderly, authoratative woman wasn't a fan of her and it was more heart-breaking than anyone could ever imagine... a family member of your lover disliking you.

It wasn’t long before the door opened, revealing an overly-happy black pearl; she had completely no idea of who was waiting inside the room. Yuri held onto the water flask with a smile, humming a song to herself; her eyes met with Taeyeon’s and she had missed the apprehension in Taeyeon’s big eyes.

“What’s wrong?” Yuri asked and when she realised there was someone else staring; she turned, only to get the shock of her life, “HALMEONI!”

Grandma Kwon rolled her eyes and leaned back into the sofa’s backrest; her granddaughter was so good at overreacting to her. She crossed her arms over her chest and observed the way Yuri was taking care of Taeyeon; Yuri hasn't been as caring or tender as other girls were because she was hurt, and it was a protective wall around her heart. Now that she was seeing a completely different side to Yuri, her mind was starting to change... or perhaps her decision was starting to waver. A part of her want
