Chapter 5
Nature's Bliss Is My CurseWatched: House of Anubis
"Are you alright?" Taemin asked, heavily panting.
Nayoung simply nodded, her lungs too busy trying to get much needed air instead of talking.
"I'm really sorry, I didn't know the fans would know," the elder tried to console her. His guilt squeezed at his heart, the last thing he wanted to do was have his soul mate be in danger. And by fan girls no less.
"Well they are sasaeng, it shouldn't be too surprising..." the female student trailed off, looking around the hallway they just entered from the elevator in confusion.
"Relax, this is the dorm. Fan girls can't get in the building thanks to security, so you're safe," Taemin said, noticing her reaction as he punched in the key code.
The door unlocked, allowing the soul mates to walk in.
Nayoung couldn't help but give the boy a dirty look, bringing a young girl to his apartment. But the expression faded once she looked around. The apartment wasn't very large, but it was far from small as well. A small hallway, two doors against it, led into a spacious living room where there were two more hallways cutting from it on either side, and a small dining room leading to a kitchen.
"The hyung's aren't here so we don't have to worry abo- nevermind."
Nayoung couldn't help but let out a small giggle at Taemin's reaction - it quickly dropped once he saw two of the elder SHINee members sitting at the kitchen table.
Both were looking at the pair with wide eyes.
"Wow, you guys move fast," Minho let out a deep laugh, chopsticks poised over his meal.
"It's not like that!" a light pink formed on Taemin's face. "We were running from crazed fans!"
Jonghyun's eyes widened. "Did they see her?"
The maknae frowned, shaking his head. He really didn't know. Neither of the two knew if the fans had found them while they were eating or if it was just coincidence when they were found on the street. "Either way they got our backs, so something will no doubt be posted online."
"Looks like the world is going to find out about your soul mate sooner or later," Minho sighed, rubbing his temples. "So how did your date go?"
"Good." "Eh."
The two turned to each other with confused looks.
"I thought it went well," Taemin shrugged.
Nayoung scoffed. "Just because I let your hold my hand a few times and you think I fell for you? Nice try, soul mate."
Her words only caused the idol to brightly smile. "So you’re openly admitting I'm your soul mate."
"Doesn't mean I like you," she spat, crossing her arms across her chest. Before he was actually starting to grow on her, but he burned those vines and now she wants to kill him again. "I told you before, I never will."
"He's still your soul mate," Jonghyun piped in. "It's dangerous just to ignore that."
When he received confused looks from all the others present the vocalist continued, "It was around ten years ago when there was a couple who discovered they were soul mates. For the longest time they hated each other and both refused to acknowledge the bond. So, they pushed the other away. It started slowly eating at them alive, having already come into contact with the other half of their soul made the soul they held desperate. They wanted to combine, but the couple wouldn't allow it. A year later both of them mysteriously died. When they opened them up there was nothing wrong with their bodies, they just dropped dead. At the same time. Even though they were on opposite ends of the country. Their families said that they started becoming different, the closer to their death the more anger-filled and irritated they became.
"Something that should be the most magical thing in the planet destroyed them."
Taemin's eyes shined with hope while Nayoung's darkened in horror. So no matter what she had to be with him? Even if she doesn't want to? It's even worse than an arranged marriage!
"But that's because they were never near the other," Jonghyun added on. "You guys can be close friends and it'll be fine. I think…"
"Either way," Nayoung shook her head, feeling a headache coming on, "I'm going home."
"I'll walk you," Taemin jumped at the chance.
"No, it's fine. My mom would go insane if a boy brought me home."
"You didn't tell your mom you found your soul mate?" his eyes widened, anger quickly flashed in his brown orbs.
"Why would I? It would just make her force you onto me," she scoffed, turning towards the door.
"Why do you keep saying that like it's a bad thing?"
But Nayoung was already out the door before all the words came out of his mouth.
Walking home, Nayoung couldn’t help the frown on her lips. Jonghyun's words echoing in her head. No matter what she did, no matter how she felt, she was stuck with Lee Taemin for the rest of her life. She hoped there was still some way out, but deep down she knew it was too late to try and put as much space as possible between them. Not only had they meet, but they touched. She felt a jolt. Nayoung knew it was her souls way of telling her that this was her other half.
"Stupid soul," she mumbled to herself, lightly punching herself in the chest. "You ruin everything."
Being home was uneventful, school was uneventful, Nayoung's whole freaking live was uneventful at this moment.
Over two weeks since she had last seen Taemin, and to her surprise, he hadn't even tried to get in touch with her. She couldn't help but feel a tiny bit upset. After all, it's a move for a boy to ask you out and then never speak to you afterwards.
She secretly hoped it was him agreeing to just be friends, giving up on the whole 'soul mate' thing. If that was the case they would have to work out when they would see each other to keep themselves sane… maybe every other Tuesday? Or was that day too random? There was no way they could do once a week, especially with his schedules.
"Nayoung-ah?" Sunmi shook her friends arm. She's been trying to get her attention for at least ten minutes!
"W-what?" Nayoung blinked. She was so deep in thought she forgot she was eating lunch at school.
"That's the third time today you've blanked out like that. What's wrong?" Nayoung felt dread on her shoulders when she looked into Sunmi's trouble eyes.
"It's… the idiot," she reluctantly mumbled, looking away.
The taller student let out a loud screech, causing some of their fellow students to turn to them with confused and irritated looks.
"You like him!"
Nayoung didn’t even bother answering.
"Omigod, this is so freaking cute. I told you this would happen!"
"It's not that!" she groaned, slamming her head into her open palms. "He hasn't contacted me in awhile… It's unlike him and I'm kind of worried about it."
"Worried means you care," Sunmi smirked, popping some food into .
"Caring doesn't mean love. Friends care."
When her friend gave her a pointed look Nayoung asked, "Oh, so you don't care about me?"
"Don’t be a smart aleck."
She opened to reply but was stopped when her phone buzzed in her pocket. Holding up a finger to signal 'one minute' she retrieved the phone, sliding it open.
Something important came up, I'm picking you up five minutes before school's out. Be at the front gate. -Taemin
"You finally got that text message didn’t you?" Sunmi smirked, pride shining in her eyes.
Throwing her a raspberry Nayoung re-read the message. "He's going to pick me up today… I wonder why."
The other girl just shrugged, going back to her meal.
Nayoung couldn't help but feel something was wrong, very wrong.
Sorry I forgot to update yesterday D:
