Entry #030
Mnemophobia
Love. It’s just chilling, you know? Kicking it with somebody, talking, making mad stupid jokes. And, like, not even wanting to go to sleep, cause then you might be without them for a minute.
And you don’t want that.
15th February 2015
“Let’s take a break here.” Kai parked his car and pulled a cap over his head before walking into rest stop with Jieun beside him. Through his shades, he saw how the girl was looking at everything around her, puppy-eyed.
“Go and walk around. I will wait for you here.” He urged. Kai knew she was being excited about being able to step out of her usual comfort zone and that was also one of the reason why he wanted to bring her back there again. And after much discussion with Suho about what he should do for their first monthsary, he decided on this. Jieun deserves more than he can ever give her, but he is going to try as he can to give her the world. This would be his first step.
Ulsan was the place where he fell in love with her. It was the first time he woke up in her arms. They had fallen asleep together and when he woke up up, she was staring at him and she smiled with sunlight painting shadows on her face. He had never slept so well before in his life. And from then, he knew; if he could fall asleep next to her every night, he would never really be sad again.
“It’s okay. Let’s just grab something from here.” Jieun shook her head and pointed to the store nearest to them. She knew Kai couldn’t go too far without being recognized and she didn’t want to make it difficult for him. They had attempted to date a few times along Han River in the middle of the night and despite his hoodie, mask and sunglass, he would still get recognized somehow.
“But I want to eat Jjampong.” Kai lied. He knew she was thinking about him again. Staring at her, he was still amazed and absoultely enchanted. Even though he had held her gaze a thousand times, when she turned to her and give him that silly grin of hers, she still made him blush.
Leading her towards the stall, Kai ordered 2 bowls of her favourite food and they ate it while sitting opposite one another. Most of the time they couldn’t hold hands or talk to each other openly when they are out in the public but to them, the presence of one another was sufficient to make up for everything else. They have each other and that was all they needed.
With Jieun occassionally acting as his GPS and bugging him to send her Tsum Tsum hearts with his phone, the 4hour drive seemed exceptionally short to Kai.
“Send me one last heart please Jongin.” Jieun begged him as they alighted from the car.
“Again? Didn’t I send you earlier already?” Kai grumbled but his hand reached for his phone in his pocket and pass it to her right away.
“Yay, you’re the best!” Jieun chirped happily and followed behind Kai as he found an empty spot along the beach.
Compared to the previous time they were here, the beach was almost deserted and it made Kai glad. Pulling the girl down to sit beside him, he wrapped the blanket around them while Jieun was engrossed on the game that he introduced her.
“Aish! I nearly hit my high score!” Jieun complained as she leaned onto his defined chest. A smile spread across her face right away; not because of her game. Her pillow wasn’t as comfortable as his chest and she likes it whenever he hugged her like this. If possible, she just wants to lay next to him and listen to the beat of his heart. She just wants to close her eyes and fall asleep in his arms.
Kai watched the girl in her arms play the game continuously, a gentle grin hung on his face. He used to complicate things when it was really simple; find what it is that makes him happy and who it is that makes him happy and he is set. Now that he found it, he wants Jieun to know that because of him, life has more meaning than he could have ever imagined. She is someone so special, that no matter what challenge comes along, he knows that he can make it through with her by his side. He had been weak in the past but now, let him be strong for her so he will be able to see her through any tough issues in the future.
“The sun is almost up.” Kai muttered softly to the girl in his arms and Jieun put away her phone immediately. She remained snuggled in his embrace, occasionally looking up to see him smiling as he looked afar.
She loves his smile. The way he slowly curve the sides of his lips, the way he his lips shyly thinking that she wasn’t looking, the way he stared into her eyes made her feel like time stopped. She also love that every time he caught her staring, he would stare back and smile once more.
Bending down, Kai kissed Jieun like he had something to say; like his tongue was writing pages on her, like gasping were words too quiet to hear. Both of them were lost in their own world, enjoying the best kiss they ever had. The one that had been exchanged a thousand times between the eyes before it reached the lips. Till the first ray of the sun broke the darkness, the couple then pulled away to admire the first sunrise as a couple together.
“What was your last wish that you made the last time we came?” Jieun broke the comfortable silence when the sun was hung brightly in the clear sky. None of them wants to move from one another.
Kai leaned his chin on her head before replying, “I can’t tell you. Or it wouldn’t come true.”
“Fine.” Jieun pouted.
“I’m happy that we met.” Kai interlinked his hand with her and kissed the back of her hands lightly. “I love you Jieun.”
Nodding her head, Jieun reciprocated seriously. “I love you too Jongin.”
“But…”
“But?” Kai panicked.
“But I will love you more if we can leave now.”
Kai rolled his eyes but showed no signs of leaving. His hands were still tightly wrapped around her waist and their legs tangled in the sand. It was hard to spend time like this with her and he didn’t want to leave. Jieun pushed herself away from his embrace and pulled him up from the ground. “I’m tired. Let’s go.”
“Alright alright.” Kai let her Jieun dragged him to his car and he started his engine right away. A triumph smile spread across her lips when her lie worked. As much as she wanted to spend a little more time with him, she also wanted him to get some rest before his schedule in the afternoon later.
“Let’s go home!” Jieun announced happily and Kai couldn’t help but to smile as well. Home had never sounded so good before. Grabbing her left hand in his, he held his steering wheel on his right before adding pressure on the pedal with the car disappearing down the long road. Neither of them heard the continuous vibrations that was coming from their phones, hidden in the pockets of their coat at the back of his car.
I've finally finished planning this story and that means, this story is coming to an end in like maybe 5 to 6 chapters?
I'm wondering what I should do for the end of this story. A cast interview like FI? What do you guys think? Do tell me what do you all wanna see as behind the scenes by commenting at the bottom yea?
Enjoy!
