Chapter Three
Medley of DallianceMonday, January 14th
It was the beginning of the dreaded weekdays. Homeroom had just begun and most of the students were still dazed by the chilly, snow-filled weekend they had spent hanging out with friends and finishing last minute homework. Baekhyun, especially, was busy staring at a certain someone by the name of Kim Yeonhee as hundreds of thoughts and questions were popping throughout his brain concerning the mind-boggling name of a bartender he had heard.
Kim Yeonhee, you can't possibly be the same person, Baekhyun thought as a slow crease embedded itself between his eyebrows. Ever since that Saturday night when he encountered a specific impassive bartender, his mind just simply couldn’t leave her. In the eighteen years of his entire life, not one girl has ever acted like that towards him, never mind a smoking hot girl whom he was actually trying to seduce. Besides that, she even had the same name as the nerd he was trying to hook up with, and even though it did have the aspects of being impossible, there did seem to be a similarity between the two. You know what, I’m probably just over thinking this. That-
“Baekhyun!” A loud, frustrated yell boomed in his ears which disrupted his train of thoughts. With a groan, his palm quickly shot up from his desk to cover his ears.
“What?” The frowning boy hissed as he glared at the intruder standing next to him.
“God, we’ve been yelling out your name for the past two minutes already.” Growled Kyungsoo as his hands were resting on his hips.
“Well, sorry. I didn’t hear you.” Baekhyun rebutted, shrugging his shoulders before looking at Yeonhee’s seat again to notice that she wasn’t there. “Did class end?”
“Yeah, homeroom ended like three minutes ago. Baekhyun, are you sure okay? You’ve been quite out of it lately.” Chanyeol worried at the dazed personality his best friend had been showing for the past few days. It worried him how his childhood best friend kept on missing some steps and lyrics when they were performing for the trainers yesterday. Baekhyun had always been attentive when it came to dancing and singing, but that careless attitude he had on didn’t make sense at all. “Is it because of your dad?”
“No, don’t worry, Chanyeol. That man has nothing to do with this. I’ve just been a bit distracted.” Baekhyun reassured the worrywart as he pushed himself off of his seat and grabbed all his things.
“Okay, then.” The taller man sighed, albeit still skeptical about his best friend’s behaviour.
“Come on, guys! We only have a minute left before the next class starts.” The motherly Kyungsoo rushed as he fast-walked out of the room to history class, which was at the other end of the school. Baekhyun and Chanyeol, however, took their time walking to math since it was just a few classrooms down from where their homeroom was.
During the whole hour and a half period of geometric sequences, Baekhyun paid no effort in listening to what the teacher was saying because he was too engrossed in watching the so-called nerd working as she sat in the very back corner of the room, while he just sat a few seats beside her. He had taken notice of the way she would push her glasses up every time it slid down that little, button nose of hers, and how she would reorganize her pens and pencils even though it looked perfectly fine from Baekhyun’s eyes.
So, she’s a perfectionist, Baekhyun concluded as he caught a glimpse of the coordinated notes and diagrams she had written out through her undecorated red notebook. To his surprise, it was actually interesting to watch Yeonhee. The way she occasionally frowned and unintentionally jut out her bottom lip from messing up on a diagram, the way she paid no attention to anyone around her even when they were beginning to get rambunctious, the way she smoothly written with that flawless handwriting of hers just amused him in such a questionable way. It was such an enterta
