White Dragon's Story
Sooyeon had quite the bounce in her step as she ventured to the eastern side of town. Her apron pocket was rather heavy and jingled as she nearly skipped down the street. When she got home her parents would be very happy with her. She had just gotten the best little bonus she had gotten since she had started working for Hyoyeon two years earlier. Granted, she had designed three silk dresses for the baroness' sister which she had absolutely adored and she had given Sooyeon a small tip for her excellent designs – and her employer had given her some as well.
Well, her parents would be happy as long as they did not find out where she had decided to go that afternoon when she had gotten off work early. She paused and gazed up at Taeyeon's mountain. It had been so long since she had last been up there.
After having drawn dresses and little else for so long, she desperately wanted to draw some flowers. Being the middle of the summer, though, there were very few flowers about, even in the deeper parts of the forest. The only place she knew she could find flowers (even if it were the dead of winter) would be up in the magical field on Taeyeon's mountain. The spot of red up on the mountainside had called to her all spring. Now she finally had a chance to go up there.
When she was sure no one was around, she slipped to the little stream near the baron's manor. No one was usually around there anyway, but she always wanted to check before she headed up into forbidden territory. She could see the collection of tulips as she neared the flowers. So had wondered what the flowers were. She had noticed a difference in the colors most of this year. It had been lavender for the longest time. She had never gotten a chance to draw tulips before. This would be a treat!
But, as she neared the edge of the flowers, she froze. Her eyes had noticed a difference further up the mountain. She did not move for some time. Her heart was racing. fell open. There he was...
Up on the ledge that led into Taeyeon's lair was the dragon himself... in his true form. He seemed so majestic with the bright summer sun making his shining white feathers nearly impossible to look at. He was looking off to the south at the moment, not seeming to have noticed the preteen girl staring at him with open mouthed awe. Even from this distance she could pick out details about him... but that was probably just her well-trained artist's eyes.
Was this her chance? She had wanted to draw him so badly for so long now. She had never gotten to draw him while he protected her each night from her nightmares, which she had not had since he had started coming to watch over her. She held her pack of parchment to her chest, trying to decide if she wanted to risk getting any closer to him. But Taeyeon's statuesque form was just begging her to draw him. She could not resist the temptation.
