Adoption part.1 [Youngmin]

My Long Lost Twin...Jo Kwangmin

~Narrator’s POV~

“Arasso that should do it Mrs. Jo is there anything else you need?” The doctor asked politely. She remained silent for a moment then came back to her senses and gave a sweet sincere smile.

“Actually, is it possible I can say one last goodbye to my boys? There’s something I’d like to gift them with.” Mrs. Jo expressed. The Doctor smiled. “Of course.”

The doctor led Mrs. Jo to the baby room. She immediately spotted her twins and presented them with the necklaces.

“My sons, I hope you do not resent me because of my decision. But I promise it will make you much stronger in the future. With that, umma would like to gift you with these. Aren’t they pretty?” Mi Young smiled at herself.

 She carefully placed the necklaces around their necks and kissed them goodbye…for now. Mi Young slowly approached the doorway by the doctor. She looked back at her boys squirming in their hospital cribs. Mi Young smiled then proceeded into the hallway.

“Thanks for everything Dr. Woo.” Mi Young says with meaning. “It really means a lot. This was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made.”

“You’re very welcome.” Dr. Woo responded. “Will that complete today?”

“One last thing.” Mrs. Jo reached into her purse and pulled out two envelopes. “Here, would you please give these to the future parents of my sons? It’s really important.” She urged.

Dr. Woo smiled. “Of course, I’ll put it with their papers.” He promised. Mi Young sighed in relief. “Kamsahamnida chincha. I greatly appreciate it.” And with that Mrs. Jo left to start a fresh new life for her sons. She looked back at the hospital. “It won’t be forever, we will be together soon…in the future.”

~~~A Few Days Later ~~~
“Yeobo, can you believe we finally get to adopt?!” Mrs. Gong shouted with glee. Her husband smiled lovingly at her and kissed her hand.
“Yes, we’ve waited so patiently for this moment and now it’s finally happening.” Mr. Gong responded. “Chan Shik will have a dongsang after all.”
After Mr. & Mrs. Gong arrived at the hospital and greeted the receptionist. The married couple was in the waiting room chatting excitedly about their new addition to their family.
------
 Mr. & Mrs. Gong were former music company producers. They wanted to take a break and raise a family. After Gongchan was born, his mother grew ill and was told he was the first and last child she could ever have.
But Gongchan has always mentioned to his parents he never wanted to be an only child, or as he put it a lonely (only and lonely rhyme) child. So that’s when his parents decided to adopt.
------
“Annyeonghaseyo, are you Mr. & Mrs. Gong?” The Doctor greeted.
“Ye that’s us.” The married coupled smiled. “Well we have a variety of infants you can choose from. If you are interested, we just received newborn male identical twins.” The Doctor mentions. “Their names are Jo Youngmin and Jo Kwangmin. They’re only a few days old.”
Mrs. Gong gasped in surprise. You can tell by her expression that she was interested. “Are they the ones right there?” She pointed to the 2 identical babies in the middle row.
“Ye that is them.” The Doctor nodded. “Wow, yeobo they’re so cute!” Mrs. Gong smiles brightly. “Ye they are cute. But for right now we can only adopt one. Remember?” Mr. Gong replied with a soft stern look.
His wife grew disappointed, but nodded agreeing. “Um we will adopt one for now. Is it possible to keep the other from being adopted? We’ll come back for him.” Mrs. Gong questioned seriously.
The doctor shook his head. “I’m afraid not. Children are not like clothing; you can’t put them on lay away. But um I’ll try my best to introduce parents to other children but that’s the best I can do.” Mr. & Mrs. Gong nodded their heads.
“Is there a specific twin you’d like first?” The doctor asked. The couple shook their heads again. The doctor shrugged and grabbed the twin on the left. After he was done preparing the baby, he handed him the parents. “This is Jo Youngmin.” The doctor smiled warmly.
The couple gasped in awe. “He’s so precious!” A tear trickled down Mrs. Gong’s cheek. “He’s beautiful. We are very blessed to have added you to our family Jo Youngmin~” Mrs. Gong couldn’t take her eyes of the miraculous baby in her arms.
Dr. Woo looked at Mrs. Gong and couldn’t help but feel he made the right decision in introducing the twins to her and her husband. They looked at Youngmin like he was their own.
Dr. Woo didn’t see this much in adoptions, but when he did he felt giddy with happiness for the new family. Sure there were other family’s’ who were happy with their adoption. But the loving way the Mr. & Mrs. Gong gazed at Youngmin, appreciating his every detail. He knew this was the family for. Dr. Woo thought.
“Now I hope his brother is the same…”
------
The married couple arrived at their home in Seoul. Mr. Gong went to unlock the door while Mrs. Gong went to grab Youngmin. The couple entered their humble abode.
“Chan Shik! Chan Shik-ah!” Mr. Gong called his 2 year old son. The little toddler ran with a big smile into his father’s arms. “Chan Shik, introduce yourself to your new little brother, Jo Youngmin.” His father smiled as he pointed to the infant in the car seat.
The little boy bowed. “Annyeong Youngminnie! I’m your new hyung Chan Shik!” Gongchan waved excitedly with a cheesy smile on his baby face.
His mother softly hushed him as baby Youngmin drifted off to sleep. “Thanks again for watching Chan Shik, Eseul-ah.” Mr. Gong thanked his niece. “No problem uncle. I’m always happy to see my dongsang.” She smiled. “Is this the new baby?”
Mrs. Gong nodded. “Omo he’s so cute!” Eseul squealed softly. “Eseul are you staying for dinner?” Mrs. Gong asked.
“No thanks, I have to go to work. I’ll come and visit tomorrow though! Annyeong!” Eseul waved.
“Bye noona!” Gongchan responded frantically. “Umma what’s this?” Gongchan questioned as he pointed to Youngmin’s necklace.
“Oh, I didn’t notice this. Y.” She then turned the necklace around. “Eternal Min…”
“Umma?” Gongchan lightly shook her out of her thoughts. “Oh Mianhae honey.”
“Shall we go through his papers and information now?” Mr. Gong asked his wife. “That’s a great idea.” She responded.
Mrs. Gong pulled out the huge manila folder containing all of Youngmin’s information including the letter his birth mother left him…
“Hello, what’s this?” Mrs. Gong asked. “To the Future Parents of My Son Jo Young Min” Mrs. Gong looked at her husband with wonder. They opened the envelope together to find a lengthy letter Mi Young, Young Min’s birth mother had written him.
Annyeonghaseyo,
If you are reading this, it means you have adopted one of my sons’ Young Min. Je ireumeun Jo Mi Young imnida. I am Kwang Min &Young Min’s birth mother. I love them with all my heart and I hope you will do the same. My husband passed away in a car accident when the twins were at 7 months. He never had the chance to see them. As for me, I’m not an addict or an alcoholic or anything. I’m just in a bit of a financial problem where I couldn’t provide for our family. That is the reasoning behind my decision to put them up for adoption. It was the hardest decision I have ever made in my life.
I have provided my sons with twin necklaces. If Youngmin ever asks about it, tell him he’ll have to wait and be patient. It says Eternal Min because ‘Min’ is in both of their names and they will always be eternal in my heart. As their mother, I have to ask that you grant this task of mine. Before I meet with my children again, I’d like for them to meet their god mother first. I want her to explain my absence to them when they are old enough to understand. Please do this for me. It would bring me that much closer to my boys. Thank you for making Young Min apart of your family. Please take good care of him and treat him well! Take care~ ^^ Annyeong!
Jo Mi Young
As Mr. & Mrs. Gong finished reading the letter, both were completely speechless. After a few more moments of the quietness, Mr. Gong broke the silence. “Should we contact her? You know so she knows Youngmin has been adopted?”
Mrs. Gong let out a sigh. “Not yet, not until we have Kwangmin with us too.”
“Alright, sounds good Hun. Well let’s wash up for dinner okay?” Mr. Gong ordered as he kissed her on the cheek. His wife nodded. “I’m gonna go put the baby in his new room.”
She cradled Youngmin in her arms and gently she laid him in his crib. Mrs. Gong rested her head on the cribs rail and admired her new son. She caressed his face. “Welcome to your new home. Your brother will be here soon…”
