Chapter I

Keep Your Enemies Closer

Pushing past the double doors, Zitao looked around the office and waved to some of the officers that he had gained the friendship of in the last couple of years. In fact, he had really only been here for two years in total, making him a rookie at best. But that didn’t lower his spirit at all. It only made Zitao work even harder than the rest of the team so he could rise up and finally do what he had wanted to for the whole of his childhood: catch criminals and make the world a safer place. When he finally reached his own desk, he shoved off his jacket and placed it over his chair, sitting down and looking at the mountain of files that had been placed there. He sighed before grabbing the first couple and raking his eyes over the information that was plastered on the page.

“Zitao!” There was a sudden shout from across the room, making the young boy’s head turn immediately to the side. He saw his boss staring at him with stern eyes before motioning with his hand for the young officer to enter his office.

Standing up, Zitao gulped a little and moved past every other cop before stepping into the most important office in the entire police station. When he entered, his boss nodded and told him to sit down on the chair that was conveniently placed in front of his desk. Zitao did as he was told and stared at the other, eager to know why he was so suddenly called in. It wasn’t like the older man scared him - he was rather gentle, but serious when he needed to be - but being called in withouts one sort of former notice was enough to make him feel quite uneasy at the situation.

And when the older man leaned forward and simply stared in silence, Zitao didn’t feel any better.

Especially when he actually spoke.

“Well Zitao, I’ve got a very special job for you.” He explained, tapping his fingers on the desk as he stared at the young and vibrant cop in front of him. “It has to do with the Korean mafia.” Zitao’s eyes widened at the mention of the extremely dangerous group within the country. The mafia. Why would he, a rookie within the force, get assigned to something this important and deadly? “It has to do with the young leader of the group that has almost all of South Korea within their grasp. This is a problem.”

“Why me, Sir?”

“Because you suit his taste.” Zitao just got more confused.

“What taste?”

“His ideal partner taste. You’re the person that’s most likely to infiltrate successfully.” The boss explained, leaning backwards in his chair and simply waiting for the other to get this through his head. It would be a lot for someone who has little to none experience within the field. And to send them out on their first real mission to something of this calibre, was probably terrifying.

“What do you want me to do?” Zitao asked, his face blank of all expression.

“Get close to him. Gain his trust. And then, find out all the classified information you can.” He explained, giving his orders.

Zitao took a deep breath and he couldn’t deny that the feeling of excitement rushing through his blood and bones at the moment wasn’t about the feeling of going through with such a dangerous missing. Because it was. And he always said he had wanted a job or mission that allowed him to show him what he really could do. So this was a god send.

“Yes Sir. What is his name?” Now he just wanted to know who it was he was going to get close to.

“Wu Yifan. He’s one of the most dangerous men in South Korea.” There was a slight moment of silence before Zitao suddenly stood up from his chair and gave his boss a slick smile full of confidence.

“I’ll see it done.”

Zitao stood in his room in front of his long and vertical mirror, staring at his own figure and clothes before sighing loudly and posing in a different stance. This wasn’t what he was expecting to do in the very first mission he got. And not to mention he felt very uncomfortable for what he was about to do when he steps out of his front door. He was stepping out of his comfort zone. Looking in the mirror again, he took a deep breath and closed his eyes. Oh god he hoped that this was going to work. His legs were wrapped in very, very tight leather jeans - that almost had Tao ripping them just to be able to walk properly - and he wore black military boots that ran up to his knees. On his torso he donned a black v-neck which he then placed a leather waistcoat over it.

“Okay, Tao. You can do this.”

Shoving on some rings and bracelets, he done one last check on his messy-styled hair and grabbed his bag. Stepping out of his apartment, he locked the doors and began walking down the street.

When he passed a rather small restaurant, he noticed one his cops inside. That was another rule that the chief had given him. If he ever recognises anyone on the street - never acknowledge them. They didn’t want anything that could relate Zitao back to the police station, if they did, then the whole operation would be over before it started. Now, Zitao was simply alone.

And that’s the way it had to stay.

When he reached the club that he had the information the mafia usually went to, he paid and flirted a little so he got in very quickly. All he hoped for was that this ‘Wu Yifan’ was present at the club, and if he was, Zitao had to pick a spot on the dance floor that was completely in his line of view.

It was hot inside the club. There was so many people, and the music was blaring from the speakers. Zitao looked around, carefully moving towards the bar as he tried to catch a group of men (and possibly women) that looked a little suspicious. He was shown some pictures of the members but not of Wu Yifan. All he got was he was young and had blonde hair. He had to look out for the members he knew of, before finding out which one was YIfan. As he spotted the upstairs VIP place, he noticed there was a table directly beside the balcony.

And on it, he recognised some of the mafia members sitting at it. At least he had the group in view - and at least they were here. Sitting on a stool at the bar, he ordered a drink before gulping it completely down and moving to the dance floor.

There, he had a very clear view of the table.

He spotted Wu Yifan instantly. In fact, he was more attractive than Zitao had expected, and definitely a lot younger. It was interesting to him how someone so young could lead such a dangerous gang. As he mingled in with the crowd, he thanked God when a dance beat came on and he began dancing very ily to the music.

Secretly, he kept his eyes on the blonde and hoped at one point the other was going to look over.

Finally, Wu Yifan turned his head ever so slightly and moved out of the conversation before looking around the dance floor. When his eyes landed on the boy dancing ever so sensually, the boy who was running his own hands on his body magnificently, he couldn’t help but smirk and just stare.

Zitao finally turned his head and made it fairly obvious that he was staring at the mafia boss. Both of them didn’t switch their gazes.

The boy recognised a look in Yifan’s eyes that meant his mission was on full now. That look was one that was inviting the boy up into the VIP section, which meant he would get full and entire access to the group already. It was going good. Letting a small smile fall on his lips, he moved through the crowd and walked towards the VIP section, but he knew he wouldn’t get in without a good excuse. And if he said anything about the mafia or Wu Yifan then he’d be out of it already. When he got there, the security guard was lightly chatting with another young man who then glanced at Tao with a very dirty smile on his face before holding out his hand for the police officer to take.

Tao took the stranger’s hand and allowed himself to be pulled very close to the man’s body. Trying to keep his reflexes low, he just smiled slowly when he felt the stranger’s other free hand move down the bend of his back and land on his . Then he felt the other’s lips at his ear.

“Looks like the boss has a slight interest in you. I can see why…” the man’s voice was softer than Tao was expecting.

The man led Zitao to the table that he had been eyeing ever since he set foot in the club, and tried to ignore all the hard stares he was gaining. Instead, his eyes went immediately to Yifan who was smirking at him with a sense of intrigue on his facial expression and his eyes. With one swift hand moment, he motioned for the young boy to come over. And that’s exactly what Zitao done.

Moving towards the mafia boss, Zitao kept his movements fluid and attractive before he stood directly in front of the blonde.

Yifan moved forward and placed his elbows on his thighs as his eyes moved all over the young boy’s body. It was quite perfect in his eyes, and he couldn’t help but let out a small chuckle at the prize he had just landed.

“And what is your name?” Yifan whispered, his dry lips.

“Huang Zitao.” Zitao was being as obedient as he could, and that couldn’t have made Yifan any happier. Suddenly standing up, he placed two hands on Zitao’s waist before pulling him closer and pressing their bodies up against each other’s. Moving down, he let his lips softly move across Zitao’s cheek before he whispered in his ear.

“Call me Kris.”
