“Ryo-chan I think this dress looks perfect on you!” Riisa was forcing her 8 year old brother to wear the colorful frilly dress she bought from the mall earlier, more like a macarena costume; red puffy sleeves and muti-colored layered frilly skirt.

Her brother, Ryosuke, didn’t protest, he's used to it and like it anyway. He loved how his sisters would randomly buy stuffs at the mall and then wholeheartedly present their gifts to them. One look and he knew, he liked the dress

Ryosuke walked up to his sister and grabbed the dress. He is going to wear it— not that he doesn't like the dress. It looks cute and colorful and he knew, this will definitely look good in him. 

"Tadaima! Ryo-chan! I bought a new color pallette!” Aya, the eldest, rushed to Ryosuke's room. She just needed to see him wear the palette. She had already envisioned in her mind how her cute li'l brother would look. With that in mind a smile crept up upin h

“Perfect! I bought a new dress too!! Just wait since he’s still fitting it!!” Riisa excitedly said to her younger sister who just arrived home

“Really??!! I can’t wait one-chan!” Aya replied

Ryosuke then went out of his room, he looked so adorable, the frilly Macarena dress fitted perfectly that matched his chubby pink cheeks. “Nee-chan, how is it?” he asked

“Perfect!” Aya and Riisa chorused

“Now, MAKE-UP TIME!!!!” Aya said, then applied make up on her younger brother. After applying make-up, they took pictures of Ryosuke making him do model poses.

While taking pictures the girl next door, Ryosuke’s playmate barged in “Ryo-chan! Let’s play at the pa— Ryo-chan you look like a girl!! So cute!!” Mirai said then laughed

“I know right! He looks adorable!! Your brothers should dress you up like this too” Riisa replied

“Ah, it’s okay, I feel comfortable with this though” she said looking at the big t-shirt she was wearing that was paired with an army printed pants.

“It’s a waste that Ryo-chan’s a boy, but it’s alright since we can still doll him up” Aya said

The boy blushed and said “I can’t play at the park looking like this right?”

“Yeah, you might be bullied again, but don’t worry, I’ll be there to save you AGAIN” Mirai replied while Ryosuke remained silent.

Mirai is the girl next to their house and is used to seeing Ryosuke being dolled up by his sisters. Opposite to Ryosuke who has four sisters, Mirai also has three brothers namely Kazuya, Masuda, and Taisuke making her the only girl in their household since her mother passed away after giving birth to Mirai. Mirai didn’t experience anything that was ‘feminine’ and would often get jealous of Ryosuke being dolled up by his sisters. Mirai doesn’t have filly fancy dresses but she has combat shoes, pump shoes, army printed pants and extra big t-shirts. She’s also black belter in Aikido in her young age and would often help Ryosuke out whenever he’s getting bullied, earning them the title of “Switched Souls Couple”.

“Let’s just play here” he said

“Okay, then shall we do Dragon Ball? I’ll be Goku and you’ll be Bulma” Mirai asked him

“I think it might be better for you to be Bulma since you’re a girl and I’ll be Goku” Ryosuke suggested

“No, you look like a girl in that dress, it would be a waste if you’re going to become Goku, plus I don’t want to become Bulma” she rejected his suggestion

“Then, what if you’re going to be Krillin? I’ll be Goku” He asked then smiled

“No, a game would be boring without a girl. And you’re perfect for the role” she insisted. Without any choice, he gave up; he knew he would never win against the stubborn girl in front of him.

Ryosuke is a weak-willed child. He doesn’t like the idea of fighting back and believes on the saying “A soft answer drives away anger” which his mother would often tell him. Even though he was bullied, he never fought back to the one who bullied him. Instead, Mirai kicks the asses of those who bully her precious friend.

Ten years has already passed, Ryosuke’s father is already working abroad as a teacher while his mother passed away because of lung cancer. That was the darkest day in the history of the Suzuki Family. That day, the third daughter, Saki was very depressed. She cut her hair and dyed it blonde, she also had her arms tattooed. Saki couldn’t accept the fact that the lung cancer was found out when it was too late, she rebelled to her father, put all the blame to her father and went away from home.

“Ryo-chaaaaaan!” Ryosuke heard Mirai call him from the outside while he was still eating his breakfast

“I’m gonna come in!” She added then opened the door “Ohayou! Ayame neechan, Aya-neechan, Riisa-neechan…”

“Ohayou Mirai-chan” Ayame replied, placing some foods on the table

“Ohayou Mi-chan”Aya said, she was having breakfast as well

“Ohayou Mirai-chan” Riisa replied while she was busy texting

“Mi-chan, why are you so early today?” Ryosuke asked

“EARLY?! Ryo-chan, it’s not early! There’s only 45 minutes before our classes start!” Mirai said in a boisterous manner

“Yeah it’s early, just sit down and eat breakfast…Here” Ryosuke calmly replied

“Ryo-chan!! We’re gonna be late!! Hurry up!!!” Mirai panicked. She took a glance at the wall clock hanged near the refrigerator, “There’s only 25 minutes left!” She added

“Mi-chan, the school is only 10-minutes away from here. You act like it’s the first day of school when in fact it’s not. Now, sit down” He replied calmly

Mirai had no other choice than to wait for Ryosuke. He was more feminine than her and would always take time when he eats. Unlike Mirai who eats like a guy, Ryosuke would indulge every bite of his food.

After that they went to school and Ryosuke was right, they we’re not yet late. Mirai placed her bag in her seat that was beside Ryosuke’s seat.

“Ryo-chan, I know you’re a---YOU KNOW, gay…. But I heard a strange rumor that is now circulating around the school” Mirai whispered.

Ryosuke told Mirai as well as his sisters that he was a gay since he liked dressing up as a girl. Mirai tried to tell him he might be an Otomen since he does not get attracted with other guys, but still Ryosuke insists that he’s a gay and swung the other way around.

“Eh? What is it?” he asked

“You are dating, a girl named Mariya, is that true?” she asked excitedly

“Ehh?! How come? You know me, why would I date a girl?” he replied

“I knew it, that girl is spreading false rumors again, tch” Mirai said, then sat down in a ‘boyish’ manner

“Mi-chan, sit down properly, you’re undies could be seen!” Ryosuke said while blushing, he was concerned with Mirai who seemed not to care about the way she sits down

“I’m sitting down properly! I have shorts under my skirt too, so don’t worry” Mirai replied and tapped Ryosuke’s shoulder. Still, sitting in a boyish way.

“No, you should sit like this” Ryosuke replied then sat down in a ‘feminine’ manner to show to Mirai how to sit in a feminine manner

“That way is too irritating, just let me be like this. Okay?” Mirai grinned at Ryosuke

After that their teacher arrived and with her, was a cute girl.

“Okay, you have a new classmate, her name is Kawashima Umika” their teacher said

“I’m Kawashima Umika, 18 years old. I hope we will get along well” she said then smiled

Mirai was captivated by her smile, Umika sparkled in her eyes and Ryosuke noticed this. “Mi-chan, you’re looking at Kawashima like she’s some kind of a goddess, at least close your mouth” he said yet Mirai didn’t answer.

“You may seat down on that seat” the teacher instructed her then pointed at the empty seat beside Mirai

“Thank you” she replied then went to her seat.

Mirai was extremely happy knowing that the girl beside her is so pretty. “Ryo-chan, she’s so pretty right?” he dreamily said to Ryosuke.

“She’s cute, but not that pretty as you make it look like” he replied.

Mirai pouted “Boring~ you just don’t know the real meaning of pretty” she said while Ryosuke did not reply.

After that, their classes started. During their break time, Mirai approached Umika “Hi! I’m Hongo Mirai, nice to meet you!” she said with a huge smile on her face that went from ear to ear

“I’m Kawashima Umika, nice to meet you” she replied then smiled

Ryosuke, not reading the situation, tapped Mirai’s shoulders and said “Let’s eat! I’m hungry now Mi-chan”

“Oh! This is my childhood friend Suzuki Ryosuke, would you like to join us? We’re going to eat at the rooftop” Mirai asked

“Sure!” Umika replied

Then the three of them went to the rooftop.

At the rooftop, Mirai kept on bombarding Umika questions. For Ryosuke, Mirai looked like a guy who was interested in a girl. He knew too well that Mirai NEVER for once liked a guy and was kinda nervous “What if she likes Umika?” that question lingered in his mind during that moment”. It was not impossible since for him, Mirai looked like a guy trapped in a girl’s body. She liked things that her big brothers liked making her more of a guy than a girl; nevertheless she’s still a girl in his eyes.

For some reason, he was irritated, he wanted get Mirai’s attention, but he couldn’t afford to ruin his best friends’ happiness. Her eyes sparkled as she was cheerfully chatting with Umika which somehow made Ryosuke feel a glint of sadness. Yes, he was happy with her meeting a friend. But for some reason, this situation disturbed him.

On the otherhand, Mirai liked Umika so much, for her, Umika was an ideal girl. A 100% feminine girl, she wanted to be like her but she was just too comfortable with who she is now.

After lunch break, they went back to their classroom and resumed their classes. That day, Ryosuke couldn’t bring himself to smile. Mirai and Ryosuke went home together.
