Pay Up!

Description

12 boys. 2 masterminds. 1 fraternity house. 1 hobby. It all started from a game by two of the fraternity seniors which eventually became Epsilon Chi Omicron's (aka EXO) lifestyle.

Foreword

Minseok and Luhan may be the oldest ones in EXO, but they have the most playful minds, and not to mention the youngest-looking ones. As they say, age doesn't matter as long as you don't look or act old. Of course, the youngest ones Jongin and Sehun would react into something like, whatever hyung or are you saying I look old?

Apparently, they do look older than Minseok and Luhan. If it wasn't because of Jongin and Sehun's aegyo skills, no one would ever believe that they're still teenagers.

It all started when Minseok was about to go out to buy some food, and Luhan was telling him to bring an umbrella. Minseok knew his hands would eventually be full of plastic bags, and bringing an umbrella would just make it a hassle. Besides, the sun was shining so bright outside that there was very minimal chance of raining. The older man went out with only his wallet and cellphone in his pocket. As soon as he reached the foyer, his cellphone rang. Luhan's name flashed on the screen.

"What do you want, Luhan?" Minseok rolled his eyes.

"10 bucks if it rains," Luhan spat.

"Since when did you become some kind of a weather man? Can't you see, it's so bright outside and it's like fever temperature."

    "My rain senses are tingling."

    "Whatever. I'm hanging up--"

    "Wait!"

    "What?"

"Could you get me some crackers--"

    "Yeah yeah--"

"--And ready your 10 bucks! Hah!"

Luhan was still mumbling something on the other line when Minseok hung up. He didn't mind Luhan's words, and strolled down to the nearest grocery store to get packs of instant ramyun, crackers, bread, and some bottled juice. When Minseok finished paying for all he had purchased, rain started to pour heavily despite the bright sky. Weird , he cursed under his breath. He could imagine Luhan laughing devilishly back in their dorm, anticipating the money he just earned from the bet. That's what he hated the most about Luhan; he was always right. Even if Minseok was 200% sure that he'd win the argument, it's like the universe would conspire to favor Luhan. Perhaps Luhan was just so damn handsome, even the universe adores him. There was one time when Luhan learned to skateboard for the first time and attempted to skate down the slope without falling. Knowing that Luhan didn't have much experience and considering his fear of heights, Minseok doubted, but the other insisted he'd watch and learn. He readied his palms in front of his face just in case Luhan fails and breaks a limb. But in the end, Luhan successfully controlled his balance and speed down the slope. Beginner's luck definitely played on him. There was also another time when Minseok got himself a pet guinea pig. Luhan said that Minseok isn't a very good pet owner that he'll just lose Miku (a name he gave his pet) in less than a week. After 3 days, Miku ran away, leaving Minseok greatly devastated.

Even weirder , Minseok cursed again as he ran back to the frat house, his entire being getting soaked in the rain like a wet chick. Good thing he insisted for the cashier to contain all the foods in plastic bags instead of paper ones.

Minseok's shoes squeaked in every step he made. He met Luhan on the door by the veranda with his palm turned upwards.

    "Pay up," Luhan said.

Minseok fished for the spare change left after grocery shopping from his pocket. It was exactly 10 bucks. He crumpled the valuable paper and literally threw it to Luhan's face. The latter flinched. He took off his wet shoes and hoodie before plopping down on the couch.

"How do you even do that?" Minseok wondered.

Luhan smirked while stashing the money inside his wallet. "Oh you know, the universe loves me. The universe wants to dress up in a ty lingerie, fishnet stockings and knee-high boots, and do a for me because I'm hot."

"I don't believe you." Minseok smacks Luhan with a pillow square on the face.

"Hey! Don't you hit the universe's most favorite flower boy!"

"Do you really think that the universe is a stripper?"

"Yes because life is one humongous strip club. If you're jealous then go get yourself an alternate universe that'll act as your own ."

For a moment, Minseok stayed silent which means he is about to hatch up an idea.

"Hey, I know! Why don't we make this a new hobby? I mean, whenever we argue, let's make it a bet," he faced Luhan. "What do you think, huh?"

"Challenge accepted. The more difficult, the higher the bet," Luhan agreed. He then raised a finger to signal Minseok to wait. He stormed into the bedroom to contrive a notebook and a marker. As he sat back on the couch to once again join Minseok, he scribbled LUHAN & MINSEOK'S BETS on the cover of the notebook with the black permanent marker. "This," Luhan flashed the notebook in front of Minseok's face, "is where we'll record all our bets. This thing will be our top secret baby."

    Minseok's face contorted in disgust.

"Sorry, that sounded less gay in my head," Luhan defended. "But you get the point, right? Deal?" He stuck his hand in front of the other for a handshake.

  "Deal," Minseok shook Luhan's hand.
