I pulled my jacket closer to my body, the sun setting in the distance as I walked home. I had thought I would tackle my homework in the library after school so I could go home and waste time on the computer but I had fallen asleep halfway through and it was already 6:30 in the evening.
It was a lot colder than it should have been considering it was only the beginning of October, and I was bundled up in a winter jacket already. I was just nearing the corner where my house was when someone came out of the house next door.
“Oh,” came the boys voice, “you’re coming home late aren’t you Penelope?”
I didn’t look in his direction. He already caused me enough problems at school. I chose not to respond, just looked at him as I walked up my front porch.
“See you tomorrow Penelope!” He called, sounding too cheery.
I hate the new kid next door. And I hate the fact that he’s also in my school.
