Tao lived life in monochrome. He went through life as if it was a tightrope, thinking through every step. He was afraid of falling. Kris lived life in flashing colors. He experienced life as it came, not bothering to think about the future. He wasn’t afraid to fall, for he was already flying. They were opposites: fire and ice, black and white. Their bond was the strongest of all, but it too, could break. And if that happened, they would both be left in freefall.
macchiato-'s note:
Like I promised, is not going to be rare so here's a taoris shot for you. The title grabbed my interest on the first place (alongside the angst tag; forgive my weakness for angst) and the story, I conclude, is not at all disappointing. I admit that there was this moment when I was thrown out of the window and thought, "What the hell that's not the reason that I want. Why does Tao have to be the said being that's too cliche" but when the story reached the ending, I took all my words back and decided that this oneshot is a beautiful work of art. Freefall provides you with the right amount of fluff and romance and tragedy. You'll understand how illogical (yet pleasurable) it is to fall for someone you've known for a mere week and how miserable it is to lose them forever.
(+): You will probably find this story typical, cliche even, when the answers to the underlying questions were revealed, but the ending was brilliant and I love it and just like me, you'll eventually take your words back. Perfect English, occasionally metaphorical and poetic.
(-): I honestly think that the revelation of Tao's identity was too common. The author could've used some other ways; expanding it further and creating a more mindblowing turn. Regardless, Freefall is still a piece you shouldn't miss.
