I tried my best to stay quiet as I heard someone enter the washroom. She was humming a playful tune and her heels clicked on the floor.
"Okay ~~~, I know you're in here, hurry up and come out already" I heard Hyunah say in an annoyed voice.
I slowly opened the door to the stall and sheepishly walked out. Hyunah took out her makeup bag from her purse and began fixing her makeup. "The guys were getting worried since you were in here for so long. I told them you were probably just pooping but they kept insisting that I should check on you...how annoying. So are you feeling sick?"
I smiled a bit while she complained because when she wasn't with the other queenkas she didn't seem as mean. "No, I'm fine...I just wanted to think some things over," I answered.
"Are you sure? Then why were you in the washroom stall?" she questioned while she continued fixing her makeup, not even taking a glance at me.
"I'm so used to hiding at school, that when I heard footsteps I just ran to the stall." I said in a quiet voice with a small smile on my face.
When she heard my response, she stopped fixing her makeup and turned to look at me. She gave me a long stare. I couldn't read the expression on her face but she didn't seem like her usual self.
"Hello? Hyunah?" I asked her while waving my hand in her face for attention. She snapped back to reality. "Are you okay?" I asked her.
"What do you think? You just had something on your face. Go wipe off that piece of rice." she responded. I looked in the mirror but there wasn't anything on my face. I shrugged it off.
"So...how is your date with L so far?" Hyunah questioned.
"It's fun of course!" I responded without thinking.
"Really now...but how come you seem so distracted?" Hyunah asked again.
"I'm n-not. I'm happy." I said while looking at the floor.
"Are you sure about that? Are you sure you aren't making the wrong choice...?" she asked carefully while looking at my reaction.
I looked at her expression, she looked genuine and it seemed like she was trying to tell me something. "Do you want to tell me something?" I asked her quietly.
Hyunah POV
She looked at me with those big innocent eyes of hers and I quickly realized what I was doing. I'm helping her realize her true feelings! *sigh, just because she gave me the pity talk about hiding in stalls. What am I doing...I should just stay out of it...she's just this random nerd girl at my school...stop butting yourself into things!
I closed my makeup palette and threw it in my bag, back to my original self. "Why would I be trying to tell you something? I'm just curious. Now hurry up, let's go. I haven't seen L, I mean Gongchan for 5 minutes already!" I exclaimed and started to head outside. I then felt her grab my wrist.
"Can I ask you something first Hyunah? Do you really like Gongchan?" she asked me.
"O-of course I do," I said while looking away from her.
"T-that's great. I'm happy he's with someone who likes him." I heard her respond.
"Well we're just on a date, it's not like we're officially going out. Gosh, stop being so old-school," I responded and shook her hand off my wrist.
She laughed and we went outside, but even though she's hiding it, I could tell that
she was sad.
RESTAURANT

Your POV
As soon as I went outside, L came up to me.
"Are you okay?! Are you feeling sick?" he exclaimed worriedly. I laughed at his cuteness.
"I'm fine now, thanks." I responded while smiling.
We started to walk back to our table and I could see Gongchan and Hyunah conversing with each other. It's weird seeing Gongchan speaking with other girls. Now that I realize it, at school I was the only girl he really talked to for more than a minute. By now, L's tugging at my arm and we continue back to our table and sit down.
"Gongchan, where do you want to go next?" Hyunah asked him sweetly.
"I don't know, don't care." he responded.
"Can we go where I want to?" Hyunah asked again.
"Whatever." he said.
"Yes! You're the best!" Hyunah said happily.
As they talk to one another, I continued to stare at Gongchan. I wanted him to look at me, to ask me if I was okay, like the others. If even Hyunah was worried about me, why wouldn't Gongchan be? But I waited and waited and he didn't ask me, he didn't even look my way.
"~~~...~~~?" I heard L call me.
"Oh, did you ask me something?" I asked him.
"Yup! Do you want to go to --- boutique? I noticed your clothes were from there and we didn't shop there earlier," L asked me.
"Yeah let's go! I love shopping there!" Hyunah said excitedly. "We can go right ~~~?" she asked.
I thought about the time I went with Gongchan on our practice date and smiled. "Sure!"
"Oh okay! I'll go pay the bill, you guys can wait here." L said and went up to the counter.
Hyunah sensed the awkward atmosphere and ran after L. "I'll pay for my own share!" she shouted.
Gongchan's POV
So far, I've been avoiding ~~~ during the whole date. There's nothing else I could do right now. I just want to get this date over with and congratulate her and L when he asks her to be his girlfriend.
FLASHBACK
"Hyunah, could you do me a favour and check on ~~~? She might not be feeling well," L asked Hyunah with a worried expression.
"Sure L! If you want me to!" Hyunah said and headed for the washroom.
It was quiet between L and I since we don't normally talk at school.
"Hey Gongchan, I know this is kind of awkward but, do you know what type of things ~~~ likes? I mean, I know you guys are close so..." L asked me shyly.
"Well she likes the colour white, and she likes dresses. Oh, and...she likes grape-flavoured lollipops." I responded without even thinking.
"Okay thanks," L said while he typed those items down in his iPhone.
"Why do you ask?" I questioned.
"Well I actually set everything up at --- boutique. I'm going to pick an outfit, well now since you told me, a white dress for ~~~ and ask her to be my girlfriend with a grape flavoured lollipop! The staff will also help us take a picture! I know it's kind of cheesy b-" L told me.
"-She'll like it." I cut in.
"Great! I'll go set it up right now!" L said excitedly as he ran out to make the call.
END OF FLASHBACK
*sigh I can't even look her in the eye...to think she'll belong to someone else at the end of today. I get up to leave the restaurant, trying to avoid speaking with her.
"Gongchan..." I heard her say in a small voice.
I freeze, not wanting to turn toward her.
"Yes..." I respond with my back facing her.
"Why are you ignoring me?" she asked me.
My heart hurt. I wanted to tell her that I don't want to ignore her and that I want to hug her right now. That I want to be the one to hold her hand, the one to make her laugh. But I can't...not now. Not when she's made it this far to becoming the girlfriend of the one she likes.
"I'm not ignoring you. It's just that, with you dating L and me with Hyunah, we shouldn't be as intimate as before. I don't want them to misunderstand, you know?" I managed to choke out.
No response.
If I turn around now, I won't be able to hold it in. I start to walk toward Hyunah and L. I hate myself so much right now, but I don't have another choice.
Your POV
When I heard Gongchan say that, my heart was in so much pain that I had to place my hand over it. A tear fell but I quickly wiped it away. I know he's right but to think of all the moments we had together, and our friendship never being the same again really hurt.
I saw him walk away and got up as well to join L and Hyunah.
"Okay everyone ready? Let's go to the --- boutique now." L said leading me out of the restaurant.

L's POV
As I walked into the boutique I saw the employee I spoke with on the phone. 'Jung Hye Young' was her name. I signaled that ~~~ was the girl I was talking about but all she did was give me a questionable look. I hope she doesn't mess this up, I want this to be perfect. Then another employee came up to us.
“Oh! Hello! You’re back today…with different partners,” said the surprised employee looking at ~~~ and then at Gongchan.
Gongchan coughed and went to the upper floor while Hyunah followed after him.
“Different partners?” I questioned while turning to look at ~~~.
~~~ smiled nervously “Haha, let’s shop L,” she said while flipping through the clothes.
I peeked at 'Jung Hye Young' and signaled her to start what we planned out on the phone earlier.
Employee 'Jung Hye Young' POV
I stared at Gongchan-shii proceed to the upper floor. Him and ~~~ had the same sad, gloomy expression written all over their face.
*sigh. Gongchan-shii and the Agasshi obviously like each other. Looks like I'm going to have to help them a bit.
"Myungsoo-shii, welcome. Why don't you try on this new suit that came in this morning, I think it matches you very well' I said.
"Thank you. Why don't you try on a dress ~~~?" Myungsoo-shii said while he looked for one.
"How about this one? It just came in the other day." I said while showing her a simple but elegant white dress.
"Ummm, okay," she responded shyly.
I led Myungsoo-shii and ~~~ Agasshi to different change rooms and then went upstairs to find Gongchan-shii, there wasn't much time left.
UPPER FLOOR
Gongchan's POV
“Gongchan! Don’t I look good in this?” Hyunah said.
“No,” I said.
“What? OMG. Can’t see true beauty,” Hyunah said and rolled her eyes.
I flipped through the clothes and tried to concentrate but my mind kept wandering. I kept thinking about what L and ~~~ were doing on the lower floor. Suddenly, I felt a tap on my shoulder.
“Gongchan-shii why don’t you try on this suit. It’s really nice and it came in yesterday,” said the employee Jung Hye Young.
I looked glumly at the floor. There was no way I would be in the mood to. “I’m sorry, I don’t really feel-” I started.
“Just try it,” she insisted. Well at least I wouldn't have to deal with Hyunah. "Okay," I answered. She led me to the change room.
"Gongchan-shii, make sure the pockets fit well." she said before she left. What an odd comment. I shrugged it off and tried on the suit.
I finished putting on the suit and exited the change room to look in the mirror outside.
UPPER FLOOR - MIRROR
"OMG Gongchan! You look sooo good in that!" Hyunah shouted.
"Drop the act already," I told her while looking in the mirror to fix my hair. I then remembered the employee telling me to check the pockets.
I checked the pockets of the suit and found a slip of paper. I was about to toss it aside when I saw there was writing in it. It said "Don't lose your chance, tell her how you feel" in small neat writing.
I looked in the mirror and all our memories flooded back to me.
She looked up and smiled at me. I wiped her tears away while she began to eat the lollipop. She looked up and saw the cuts on my face, slowly touching one on my cheekbone under my eye. I slightly winced. “Does your boo-boo hurt a lot?” she asked me worriedly. “Of course not!” I smiled brightly but she could tell that I was hurting even though I smiled. She got off the swing and tippy-toed, giving me a kiss on the boo-boo.
As I followed her after school I saw the good deeds she did everyday. As she walked home she would visit the Grandma down the street and help her with her groceries. As she walked down the road she would pick up the litter and throw them into the garbage can. When she reached home she would greet her parents happily and claim that she had a great day at school and made a lot of friends even though she was bullied by everyone.
My heart fluttered when she grabbed my hands. Even though I was unhappy about her going on a date with L, as her best friend I just had to help. “*sigh* Do I look like I have a choice?” I said sarcastically while rolling my eyes. “Thanks! I love you!” ~~~ said with her cute eye smile while giving me a hug making my heart beat even faster.
"Gongchan! Gongchan?" Hyunah tried to get my attention while clinging to my arm. I pulled my arm away from her and ran toward the escalator that headed to the lower floor.
"*sigh Finally, I thought he was never going to make a move," Hyunah smiled while giving a nod of approval.
LOWER FLOOR - CHANGE ROOM
Your POV
I changed into the white dress and looked in the mirror. It was beautiful! I really loved it. "I can't wait to show Gongchan," I thought out loud until I realized what I was saying. I shook my head and opened the door.
Outside I was welcomed by L. He gave me a bright smile and I smiled back.
"I know we haven't known each other for long," he started, "but can you be my girlfriend?" he said sweetly while taking a grape-flavoured lollipop out of his pocket, holding it with two hands and shyly handing it to me.
The smile on my face abruptly disappeared. As I looked forward, I could no longer see L but only the grape-flavoured lollipop.
My memories with Gongchan came flooding back to me.
Soon they were so loud that all the students in my class came over. They began to circle around and tease me. All I could do was cry. But I suddenly heard a loud voice cry out.“HEY! You guys better stop it now!” I looked up and saw a handsome boy standing in front of me with his arms wide out protecting me from the others.
"I don't understand why you can't see the real prince charming who's beside you" Gongchan teased while putting his arm over my shoulder. "Yeah yeah, you're the best okay!" I laughed along. Suddenly he zoomed up close, our faces only inches apart. "I'm serious" he said in a deep voice.
“*sigh* Do I look like I have a choice?” Gongchan said sarcastically while rolling his eyes. “Thanks! I love you!” I said while giving Gongchan a hug. “If only you meant it,” Gongchan whispered under his breath.
By now L was shaking me to get my attention. "~~~! ~~~! Are you okay?" he asked frantically.
I wiped the tears that were falling from my face and answered him. "I'm fine, thanks L. Thanks...thanks for everything…for giving me the opportunity to have fun with you, to get to know you, and for treating me so well. But...you aren't the one for me. I'm clear on what I need to do now. I'm sorry..." I said.
He slowly let go of me and gave me a sad smile. "It's okay...honestly, I already knew...that you liked Gongchan. I just didn't want to let you go...I'm sorry..." he responded.
I gave him a sad smile and gave him a quick hug. "Thank you for everything L," I said.

I went back into the change room and quickly searched the pockets of the shorts that Gongchan bought me. The grape-flavoured lollipop I put there in the morning was still there. I smiled and ran out of the change room ready to run to the upper floor but after a couple steps I saw Gongchan up ahead. I smiled with tears in my eyes and he ran toward me giving me a big hug, almost making me fall over.
“~~~, I’m sorry…I can’t let you go…I won’t let you leave me. I want only you to give me kisses on my boo-boo’s when I get hurt, I want to be the only one who can protect you from anyone or anything, you’re the only one who makes my heart beat faster…I know you probably don’t understand what I’m saying right now…but I-I love you. I always have and always will love only you. I’m sorry for telling you so late…” Gongchan said.
My heart pounded fast against my chest as I hugged him even tighter.
“No Gongchan! I’m sorry for not realizing your feelings even when you gave me so many hints…when you saved me from being bullied from the students in grade school, when you teased me about being my prince charming, even when you agreed to help me do a practice date! I’m sure now that I’ve had feelings for you all along…I was just unable to admit it until now…Gongchan…I think I love you…” I said while crying and blushing at the same time.
Gongchan broke the hug and twirled me around in the air until he put me down and pulled me close. I looked up at his perfect face and he looked down at me. He leaned in slowly and gave me a passionate kiss. His hands were on my face while one of my arms was around his neck, and the other hand held the grape-flavoured lollipop. We saw a flash from the corner of our eyes and slowly broke the kiss.
“Here you go you two lovebirds!” the employee Jung Hye Young said with a smile while handing us a picture of the two of us kissing as I held onto the grape-flavoured lollipop.
