It seemed like an eternity when all the voices died down. Though his legs were killing him, Jinki was crouched down there till everything was quiet and he could only hear his own heartbeat. He got up and stumbled a little because of the sudden blood rush he experienced. And he could only think about what that guy had told him.

"Well...he looked like their leader, but what is wrong with him? Me? A kitten? Seriously? A dog or even a puppy would have been better. But his last sentence 'A kitten that I can catch anytime I want' felt like there was some unspeakable promise to it. Anyways I have to hurry back home. And all I want now is a hot bath and then I'm hitting the sack."

When Jinki reached home, it was dark. All the lights were turned off except for the one in the kitchen. He rushed straight to the kitchen.

"Brother! I thought you had forgotten it was my birthday and you were not going to come home today." Said 5-year old Jung hwa. Jinki looked down at the 5 now 6 year old beautiful girl with shoulder length brown hair looking up at him with large expecting black eyes. He went down on his knees so he was on eye level with her and told,"How could I ever forget your birthday! Here your birthday present." and he pulled out a small box from his pocket. She snatched it from him gave him a thank you hug and ran off to her room to open her present.

"I hope she likes it. That's only what I could buy with my salary from the book shop." He had given her an emerald coloured butterfly shaped hair pin. Though they were not real siblings, he liked her like his own younger sister.

"Where have you been?" said an ice cold voice from behind him.

Turning around he found his 'mother' staring at him with one of her cold stares. He was now used to them and hence he didn't find them intimidating anymore.

Before he could answer she spoke again."There are guests staying here tonight, you have to sleep in the backyard." and she walked off closing the kitchen door behind her.

"There goes my bath. One thing I hate about birthdays is the guests. All I can hope is that whoever is staying in my room won't mess it up like last time." He shrugged and headed to the backyard. Jinki liked sleeping there cause he could gaze up at the stars till he fell asleep.
