Today, I planned a big event for Ahreum. I think it’s time to finally confess to her. Do you think so too?

“Are you really sure about this, son?” Dad asked and gave me a stern look. “Oh shut up! Honey! Aren’t you proud?” Mom slapped the back of Dad’s head and sat beside me. “Go for it, honey.  I’m sure Ahreum would say yes, you’re lovely and handsome, Wonwoo.” She said and caressed my head.

I want to thank Mom for her encouragement but I’m really really nervous right now. What if timing is not right? What if I stutter? What if she doesn’t like the food? What if she rejected me? What if it ruins our friendship? Should I still confess? God… this is so hard.

Mom literally pulled me back into reality as she dragged me off of my chair and up to my room.

“Let’s get you groomed!” She cooed excitedly. A passive groan left my mouth as she sat me down into her vanity chair. A pale brown eyed guy stared back at me as I stared at myself in the mirror. “Mom, I think I’m sick. How about I delay my confess-“

“No, you’re not going anywhere, son.” She paced her hands on my shoulder and pushed me back down on the chair as I tried to escape. Ugh. This is not good.

“Mom, I don’t need any grooming. I’m a guy! Only girls do those things!” I whined but she didn’t listened.

She dabbed some light brownish cream on my face and the once pale looking guy in front of me looked alive. “Done!” Mom clapped her hands and stared lovingly at her creation. “Now you look more handsome!” She giggled.

I need to ask Life why girls love make up and how on earth does this magical cream makes me more good looking with just one (or maybe not.)?!?

Seokmin and Cheseul pushed me out of the house. “We’ll take care of the decorating, Woo! Now you go spend time with Ahreum, time is ticking!” Mingyu shouted and I heard giggles from Cheseul and Heesu. Ugh, these three!

“And Oh! We’ll send you the place we picked! Be sure to go there!!” Seokmin added.

Now what do I do?

I was about to walk back to my house but my phone lit up and Ahreum’s ringtone rang frantically. I took a deep breath before answering. “Ahreum!” I greeted. The side of my lips instantly rose up forming a big smile as her voice rang through the phone,

“Wonwoo! I need help!” She shouted her breath uneven. My brows furrowed together and my smile replaced with a frown.

“What’s wrong?” I asked.

I heard her release a big huff of breath. “The bookstore is having a fifty percent sale today and no one wants to help me.” She whined. Oh… Books..?? She called me because she wanted to buy books. That’s… reasonable..?

“I’ll see you then. I’ll be in front of your house in a few.” She murmured a small Thank you and hang up.

Ahreum’s home was just three blocks away from where I was earlier. I knocked on the door and after the third knock, the door opened. “Mr. Son.” I greeted and bowed. If you only know how nervous I am right now.

“Wonwoo! Come in! Come in!” Mr. Son said and pulled me inside. “Let me get you some refreshments.” Now if you’re wondering why Ahreum’s Dad is the one who’s getting me water, it’s because Ahreum’s Mom died when she gave birth to my queen.

But even though she’s motherless, Ahreum always smiled and never make a fuss about it. That’s what I like about her actually, whatever Life throws to her; she’ll accept it and smile.
